I joined RateBeer with a number of goals in mind with a start later rather than sooner in life. In the past year I have hit a number of those goals with still others out there. Get to 1000 ratings, yes, done. Rank in the top 50 raters of at least one style of beer. Got that one too. Rank in the top 50 of raters in the state of Texas. Not an easy accomplishment, there have been a lot of RateBeerers in Texas. But I got this done, I hope to rise a few more positions as time goes along, let us be realistic about it all. Curiously, if I had stayed in New Mexico, where I grew up, I would be in the second spot with first not that far away. Such is life, glad to be a Texan in any case. The next target to reach will not be easy but I persevere. I want to make the top 50 raters worldwide in a style that is not typically American but one I like considerably. It is hard to get brews, but that is the challenge. After that is hopefully done then I can settle into high-grading my tastings in beers that are worthy. Maybe make it to 2K beers eventually too. Life is good. I've enjoyed the ride.
