“Liquor store in a residential part of Vlissingen, not the most exciting surroundings. Next to a Jumbo supermarket. Neat store with a very good selection of high-end beers and some local stuff. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were high, but to be expected nowadays. Picked up only a few beers as I also had a visit to Drankgigant planned. When in the area, make sure to visit both places (AceDrinks and Drankgigant).“

“Dutch drinks shop located in Vlissingen, with not just craft beer, but other alcoholic drinks as well, including wine and liquor. Stumbled upon this by coincidence when searching for a Sierra Nevada beer, made a small online order and got it two days later in perfect condition. No complaints at all, very smooth service, reasonable prices – I will likely check this one again some day, and perhaps visit the physical store as well, when in Vlissingen or nearby.“

“Ordered on Sunday and delivered on Tuesday so essentially next-day delivery which is impressive considering that this was essentially an International order. The website is pretty good in terms of navigation, there were a couple of minor quibbles, but all told it worked quite well. There is a very large and very good range of beers, many of these are familiar but that was part of the reason for me nipping on there, it is great to get favourites such as the likes of Orval, De Dolle Boskeun, Duvel Tripel Hop at superb prices. However be aware that there aren't going to be that many lesser-seen US, Scandinavian or UK cans/bottles like some of their more specialist Dutch competitors but these guys probably take some beating in the huge range of Dutch and Belgian beers and they did have some less seen Dutch or Belgian beers. Packaging was quite good, in fact I had two boxes one of which was huge with bottles pretty well protected, the box was the standard compartmentalized style and bottles were bubble wrapped, though only loosely, no sellotape but plenty of wrap. However, because the compartments could also hold bigger bottles the cans seem to be rather more haphazardly added with cans on top of cans and no protection between each can. Furthermore, the Burnt Mill cans that I got were frustratingly just past the BBE date (earlier this month I think date was?) and this was not indicated or allowed for a reduction on the site, also I have 14 De Dolle Boskeun and a single Het Uiltje beer to follow next week when they are back in stock, though to be fair they were quick in emailing me to make me aware and offered me the option of a refund or to wait, In fact, emailing and responses have been very quick. So all in all pretty good, ok it could be better but I guess that these guys are a big, big outfit and are churning out lots and lots of orders, *Please note that they are a drinks place and NOT just beer, they do wine, spirits, lots and lots of stuff, beer is just a part of this enterprise. So I guess that attention to detail seen with smaller more specialist sites isn't going to be seen to such a degree here, that said I will definitely go back to them especially when wanting to order some old favourites.“

“Inmiddels een aantal keren besteld via de webshop. Mooie duidelijk website met verrassend grote sortering aan bier en andere dranken. Prijzen zijn ok en afhandeling van de bestelde producten verloopt netjes en snel in een degelijke verpakking. Men reageert tevens correct en snel via de website op vragen of opmerkingen. Ik kan deze shop een ieder aanbevelen en ga hier zeker vaker bestellen.“

“My wife and I stopped here on the way to Bruges and we stumbled upon two of the nicest and most professional people ever (Joanne and Jasper) who run a great drinks store. Joanne was kind enough to pour us a few samples. Excellent selection. I recently ordered 10 Dutch beers (all Kees) on Ace’s website and they were delivered to my house in Stuttgart the very next day complete with a personal note from Jasper. Really wonderful experience.“

“Excellent beer store in what looks like sn unassuming neighbourhood grocery store block in Vlissingen. Expect 700+ beers, all well-chosen from some of the more exciting craft breweries from around the world. Lots of rarities and barrel-aged one-offs. Very helpful enthusiastic staff. Good selection from local breweries such as Kees, which was all i was interested in. A must-visit when in Zeeland. Also runs the webshop acedrinks.nl.“

“The website is a little hard to navigate, and it's very hard to find beers throught the catagories, somehow I found most beers only by search. Could use some improvement here.

Selection is pretty nice, fair prices, and customer service is incredible, super friendly over Facebook and they added a nice personal note to my order. Wow these people are friendly! Pretty good store overall.“

“This is the online shop of Slijterij Paauwenburg. The UI doesn't look perfect and it lacks the option of showing new beers first or sorting by countries, but after getting used to it it fulfils its purpose. Great selection of Dutch and international craft beer, quite some rarities, high quality, pretty large as well. Carries other alcoholic beverages as well. Prices are very solid for Dutch standards, only the shipping costs to Germany are pretty high. Shipping was very quick, packaging was solid but not super safe, communication was good. Will order again in the future!“

“Liquor store department of the Emté supermarket in bit dull looking neighborhood. Once inside though there is lots of beers, lots of locals (Kees, Emelisse, some other small breweries) and an interesting collection of American /non Dutch stuff. Amazing enthusiastic clerk with a lot of knowhow and a pleasant helpful attitude. Bought Mexican Cake, Old Numbskull, Prairie Okie, some rarer Emelisse white labels and barrel aged beers and completed my line of Kees Barrel Projects. The place to be for this area!“

“Small bottleshop that’s part of the supermarket next door, you’d never expect all the gems inside. It’s not big, but they have lots of nice local beers, lots of European beers, and a whole lot of high quality and hard to find US beers too.

The service was exceptional here, the guy running this place has a strong passion for beer, gives good advice had makes good conversation. He even offered us some Bourbon County under the counter, hahaha. They have a good collection of whisky with some hard to find gems, and I got a nice little sample bottle for free.

Love this place!“

“Update August 2021: Now under their new name, 'Ace Drinks', not 'Slijterij Paauwenburg' anymore. The shop hasn't changed that much, apart from the interior. It's still somewhat attached to the supermarket next door ('Emté' has become 'Jumbo'), even employees from there work here (with little knowledge though I guess). The selection is still good, but hasn't grown in quantity. It's quite different from what 'Drankgigant' has to offer, so it's a nice addition. Plus, they usually have all the newest beers from Kees. Small bottle shop next to a supermarket in a residential area which is not that close to the town centre. But the selection more than compensates for the hike (more quality than quantity though): not only standard Dutch and Belgians, but many gems like BA De Molen, Emelisse White Label or specials from Kees!. Decent Belgian selection as well with Struise, DvdK and some Lambics, accompanied by English, American, Spanish and Scandinavian/Danish gems. Really impressed by the selection, and the prices are generally good as well! Local stuff, apart from Kees! and Emelisse, is available as well. Staff is very friendly and helpful, good vibe in that shop. Really worth a visit!“

“Visited once again in person, now at their new address: It's one of the largest, if not the largest beer store I've ever been to. They have an unbelievably large assortment of beers from mainly the Netherlands and Belgium, now also with many locals, usually stocking the core range beers but also some one-offs and seasonals. A decent international selection of American and European craft beer is available as well. Apart from that, their selection of spirits, especially whisky, is massive. The interior looks very clean, the shelves are very orderly. All in all a must-visit if in Vlissingen. Visited the shop now in person: Medium-sized to large bottle shop in the outskirts of Vlissingen. Selection seems to be the same as for the webshop: lots of Dutch and Belgian stuff, focus also on Denmark with Mikkeller and To Øl massively represented, some US beers as well. High quality for overall very good prices. The only thing missing are the locals: only a handful of beers from Kees!, not much else (is Scheldebrouwerij considered to be local?). The staff let me browse through on my own but was also helpful when asked. Apart from the beers, they have a huge selections of whiskys and other alcoholic beverages as well. Not only worth a visit when in town! Rating for the webshop: I ordered about 15 beers and 10 glasses from the web shop. I ordered in the afternoon on Monday and it arrived on Wednesday. That’s really fast considering it had to traverse the German border. However, two glasses were broken and one was not the correct one. That can happen. I wrote them a mail which was answered in an hour. They sent the three glasses again and I could keep the wrong glass. So all in all really great service. The prices are quite good. Would always order again.“

“Actually went to the shop in person. Though unbelievably embedded, a dazzling choice, challenging all but the very best in Belgium awaits the beercustomer - as the aficionado of whisky, wine,.. Zeeland is catching up with giant steps, and this epithomizes it. Very friendly and helpful service - including somebody ordered to help me carry the booty to the car - which BTW had amply parking space, which constitutes another small miracle on the isles... Getting there was relatively easy, even without satnav help. Find rare American, British bottles and some Dutch specialities. Not to mention an Estonian brewery I never heard of, and whose name I won’t even try to write down by heart, let alone pronounce !! And of course, nobody will prevent you from visiting the website, and either ordering via mail, or, as I did, make a wishlist to carry along. Prices are quite reasonable, which spoils nothing!“

“Updated rating: Visited the actual store in Vlissingen. Huge (huuuuge) liquor store selling all sort of booze, with an enormous beer selection (3000+ bottles/cans). Classics, lots of Belgian and Dutch breweries, modern canned stuff, big bottles, you name it. I could live here if needed. 10APR2015: Stumbled upon this site because of a whisky offer, but had to check their beer selection as well of course. Site is relatively easy to navigate, ordering and shipping went really fast, had my box the next day. Beers were loosely packaged, but couldn’t go anywhere but their slot in the shipper. Selection isn’t huge, but managed to find some nice US beers I hadn’t had yet. Shipping costs are standard Dutch fare (€6,95).“

“Online order. This shop is not really specialized in beer and for the most part offering the usual stuff from Belgium and the Netherlands, but they do have some less common American brews here, as well as a few other beers I hadn’t tasted yet, so I will keep an eye on it every now and then to see if their range is being expanded further. Delivery was quick, prices very reasonable and communication went smooth, can’t complain; the freight cost is a fixed amount for Belgium and the Netherlands, cheaper than normal, which is also a plus. The box seemed more fit to ship big (wine and liquor) bottles, there was less protection than with other online shops I placed orders from, there was no ’breakable’ sign or indication of the top side of the carton, but still everything arrived in good condition. Interesting to check out for any ’gaps’ in your ratings, I suppose.“

“Was a bit harsh on them with my scores. Because actually, it’s the best shop in 50km around. But since I try to compare all shops objectively & they’re up to fierce competition like Geers, Hopduvel, etc.... Great selection. Seems to be focusing a bit too much on the hipster side of the spectrum (Struise, Mikkeler, Emelisse) to my taste, but hey, up until recently you had to settle for InBev-gushers in these parts. Prices pretty good. For Holland, that is. And with Geers so close by & the far lower Belgian excises on alcohol... That could become an issue, I’m afraid. Hope they find original ways to keep attracting customers, because it seems to me you really need that extra effort in such a small town so close to the Belgian border. “

“Great progress from the last time I checked, maybe a year ago. Many more drinks now and more important many more beers. Nothing special, granted, but I managed to find more than 25 unrated beers, which is big deal considering how well stocked my local beer shop is. Mostly dutch and belgian stuff , in good prices. My order was processed in less than an hour, meaning gathering the beers, packing etc, really impressive. I got my order the next day, a huge heavy box, well packed and I paid only the standard shipping costs. I’ll sure order again when they have more beers.“

“Young and very enthousiastic owner that runs this liquor store with a growing and interesting beer selection. Stuff from all around The Netherlands and some more typical Belgian stuff but also smaller Dutch and Belgian breweries are here to be found. as well as cheaper Westvletere . Very friendly staff, in for a chat and want to know what you can recommend him, so he knows what else to order to expand his selection. Prices are normal, I guess. Good whiskey selection as well. “I’ve been using their webshop for quite some time now and they always deliver. They had a small period of time when things seemed to be always out of stock, but now they made a comeback. Selection isn’t exciting at all, just regular Belgians, some Dutch and German.. Mostly use them when they have bargains and able to make a good deal for some easy rating basicly. Decent webshop.“

“After the closing of ’t Zottekot, ’t Belgisch Bierhuizeken and others, this is about the only place in Vlissingen with a decent beer list. The list is small, but the service is great. Superb location on an old square right beside the early 14th century church of St. Jacob. Great coffee, dozens of teas, dozens of wines and a nice snack menu. Vlissingen is a great little city to visit. And if you do, give the people of Sint Jacobscafe a hug & beg them to work on a beer list that can compete with their 200+ wine list :)“

“Recently more than tripled in square meters, Drankgigant now has room to expand their beer selection. The owners said they’re planning to do so in the very near future. Already carrying about 300 sorts of beer with a heavy emphasis on not too rare Belgian stuff and local breweries (Peelander, Scheldebrouwerij, Emelisse). Started off as a small village liquor store, grew to be the largest independent drinks webshop of the Netherlands and now working on a wider range in beer. Whisky lovers: check out their 600+ sorts of whisky on their website. UPDATE dec. 2014: still the same selection as two years ago, almost no craft breweries, not even anything from Dupont. Disappointing.“

“Small bottle shop more focused on liquors. This is the place to stop if you need Emelisse beers which might be out of stock at the brewery. The rest is about 90% Belgian beers and oddly enough almost nothing of Dutch breweries beside big brands and gift packs. Prices for Emelisse where about 0€20 higher than at the brewery which is a really nice deal. Service was friendly. Not really worth driving to unless going through that town. As far as Belgian beers, nothing I cannot find in Belgium so I didn’t bother checking their prices.“
