COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sgt. Major’s I.P.A is a robust, "west-coast" style I.P.A. with a tasty white-grapefruit/spice/resin flavour and aroma, making the ale wonderfully refreshing. Its bitterness (68 I.B.U.) is obtained throught the use of copious amounts of Chinook hops. The malts are pale, crystal 60,and chocolate. Available on draught year ’round and soon in 6 packs (bottles) at the LCBO.

Stubbie bottle sample at the Brain Hamilton Ontario. Pour is golden not much head as well. Aroma is of hops and spice. Taste is hoppy, spice, slight citrus like lemon peal and bitter. Glad this is Canadian.

341 ml stubbie bottle. slight head, no lace, pale orange to brownish in colour. aromas are resin, hops, nice malted notes as well but i do get a slight green apple note as well. palate is hoppy, bitter but there is also a nice resin and caramel note. i ordered a few at the bar and i felt it was a nice discovery.

A beer for hops lovers. You can taste hops from the start through to an aftertaste that lasts a minute afterwards. There is no attempt to balance this beer and if bitter hoppiness is your taste in beer you are thankful for this.Like all Heritage beers, this is in the stubby bottles that beer was mandated to be sold in for so many years in Canada until 1984. A nice touch for nostalgic Canadians and oddly enough a bottle that was so uniform for so many years is now unique.

(merci mr. slovaque) 6/10

330mL Stubby bottle from the LCBO. 5.5%. Clear amber pour with little head to speak of, an agressive pour yielded no more than a weak fizz on the top of this gem. Aroma is mild citrus (grapefruit) with a spicy note in the generous hop overtones. Taste is thoroughly dry and hoppy, with a lingering citrusy sweetness and a faint hint of malt. More of an APA (Chinook hops) but it would be an injustice to this beer to dwell on that note for too long. An excellent hophead beer.

On tap @ Kingston Brewery. Served a copper color with a decent head that fades quickly to lacing. Clean aroma with a citrus overtone. Citrus with a sweetness & bitterness mixture. Medium body that is smooth. Hits the spot. Good brew well worth a try.
