czar (14997) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 4, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2020 bottle that pours clear gold with a towering white head offering good retention and lacing. candied fruits - pineapples bits and small stawberries, foeder-like sweet woodsiness, tannic bretts, light acidity - kinda funky flora; warming wooden alcohol, nicely integrated. moderate carbonation (strong at first and settled down completely), light to medium body - oily; sweet, softly tart and bretty-spicy-citrusy finish. belgian strong golden is evident in its composition but ends up completely changed, i.e. fairly tropical and funky, like an unannounced tepache.

Aroma is yeast, lemon rind, bubble gum, wheat and pepper. Taste is brett, pepper, malt, pine, and bitter citrus. Enjoyable.

330mL bottle from Beer Run. Aromas of lemon zest, barnyard, green apple, hints of caramel, slight vomit. Hazy orange with a fairly lasting white head. Dry, funky, orange zest, herbaceous, peppery, faint toffee. Medium bodied.

Bottle in Seattle. Soft head, a touch of yeast haze on a light orange body. Yeast and apples on nose. Sip is a bit flat and muted, peppery apples and a bit of tripel-like ester. Some honey flavored dustiness. I suppose this might be old, no real hops coming through. Any Brett is highly muted.

Pours a golden with a white head. The aroma is of sugars and fruity esters; there is an intense blend of tropical fruit. The taste is fruity and yeast. Later, this finish becomes more dry and bitter with a hint of grapefruit and hops. The taste also becomes more complex; a yeasty flavor takes over as well as hops that balance the sweet tone.

"Flemish Primitive Wild Ale (Surly Bird)". Poured a clearish golden color with white head. Some light funk and hop character. Notes: On tap at Aces & Ales (Nellis), Winter Beer Fest, Jan ’17

ctipping (4084) - Florida, USA - AUG 24, 2016
330 mL bottle. Labeled Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale. Pale yellow. Huge white head. Smells medicinal, fruity, and yeasty. Tastes medicinal, too. Brett and a little bit of sweetness that turns medicinal. Super high carbonation. Takes a while to swirl out the carbonation. Medium body. The medicinal sourness is unpleasant.

750ml. Hazy golden color with a big, foamy, sticky white head. Funky, bretty, hoppy aroma with Belgian notes and hay. Dry flavor, not really sour, just funky, with a bitter finish. Medium-bodied, very highly carbonated. Actually really nicely done overall.

From a 33 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a cloudy gold with a thick off white head. Aroma of butterscotch. Flavors of butterscotch with some brett funk. Pretty subdued.
