COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

As goes for all the Hop Series beers I’ve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Sorachi Ace has very much dill in there :D Caramely, bitter. Taste is of dill. A bit lemony. Good finish. A highlight, that dill taste...

"i dig the sorachi ace hop for it’s unique lemony earthy soap-like qualities, and so this one will probably end up on of my favorites. easy drinking yet a standout."

Bottled, and probably quite old. Hazy amber color. Decent head, mediocre retetion. This one is coming off very strong from the get go. Earthy, malty, bready. Distinct coconut, had not expected that! Sorachi is supposedly quite bitter, but I’m not getting that. Not sure if the aromas overtake it or if tasting too many from this series at once has dulled the senses.

Draft at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have grapefruit citrus, pine resin, moderate sweet bread, light earthy notes. Medium bodied. Finishes with more pine, earth, brown bread, moderate bitterness. Hops seem faded a bit. These always seem to hit too late in the game.

on tap @ Ei8ht Ball / Bellvue KY --- Nearly clear medium amber with a thin off-white head cover, dots and specks of lace. Taste is crisp edgy malt with a solid, though slightly understated, hop presence. Both sides are well-balanced, moving smoothly to a long finish. Good stuff.

Hazy brown color with crumbs floating. Big white head. Strong bitter kick. Aroma of coconut, caramel and herbs. Long bitter finish. Thin to medium body, a bit watery, soft carbonation. I was thrilled about coconut part.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2016 Cloudyish brown color, big off white head. Considerable amount of residue. Very strong coconut aroma, herbs, citrus, malt. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Medium sweet, light bitter taste. Excellent single hop IPA.

bottle. Deep amber with small head and quite a bit of sediment. I know this bottle has got to be past prime, but I couldn’t pass it up when I saw it. I love Sorachi Ace hops. Here they’re a bit faded, but it’s still got plenty of solid flavor.
