COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

CacheManyHose (1431) - HONG KONG - JUN 19, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2020 Can from Cave in Mei Foo. Appearance: opaque brown-black Aroma: plum, cherry, rich roasty dark malt, dark chocolate, leather, lightly chalky. Smells fantastic. Taste: dark malt, chestnut, gingerbread, moderately spiced, finish is lightly soy sauce. More watery than darkness & smokiness of nose. Body: medium, moderate slickness, finish is smooth and creamy and slightly chewy/bouncy. Yum. Very nice.

HKdIPA (1437) - HONG KONG - JUN 19, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2020 Bottle from CAVE Beer Point at home. Opaque black pour with very thin tan head. Aroma is bitter dark chocolate, leather, plum, nice. Taste is similar, with more powdered chocolate and dark fruit. Smooth velvety palate without being too rich or too chalky. Very good.

Borresteijn (11300) - Heerhugowaard, NETHERLANDS - APR 21, 2020
Volle body.

badpuppy69 (826) - Orange, California, USA - MAR 31, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2020 From a bottle to a glass. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, mocha. Taste follows the aroma with a general hop note detected. Medium heavy mouthfeel. Tasty Stout!

thegreenrooster (6949) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 30, 2019
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2019 Pour is a thick black sludge with a large tan head. Aroma is a real nice roasted malt with a huge bitter bakers chocolate. Flavor is more bakers chocolate and a large roast char malt. A bit of warming alcohol is there as well. Finish leaves a nice roasty almost burnt malt on the tongue. this was a outstanding Impy stout that did not need anything added or barrel aged. This is all about the roasted malt

Beese (17208) - Tooting, London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 10, 2019
355ml bottle in 2015. Black, with a thin tan head. Aroma of earth, molasses, and dark rum. Syrupy body, with tobacco, and dark fruit flavours. Finish was Ash, roar malt, and coffee.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2019 15-OCT-2019, draft @ Mission Brewery as part of a flight. Black with a lasting, tan, lacing head. Aroma is tar, choal, licorice, coffee. As rough as the aroma profile may sound this is actually very smooth and nice to drink. Sweet but on the dry side for the style. Taste is much the same as the aroma plus some dark berry stuff. I really line this one. Well-made.

colui72 (4905) - Sassari, ITALY - SEP 8, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 8, 2019 How rare now to find a good old fashioned Russian Impy in the ocean of pastry stouts (which I love, anyway). It's like childhood memories, even if my craft beer childhood was just few years ago. Well, this dark guy here is the case: motor oil pour, beige head, sticky lacing; nose of caramel, roasted malts, dark fruits and chocolate, burnt-bitter taste with caramel, cocoa, coffee and appropriate bittering hops. Smooth, loud and clear, booze well hidden. Here we go. Czar job.

TrappistChamp31 (14) - - JUL 17, 2019
UPDATED: JUL 17, 2019 Very close to lagunitas stout with higher price tag. Slightly better aroma strength with sweetness and barrel smell and taste.

JDBaker11058 (3946) - Sandy Spring, Maryland, USA - JUL 6, 2019
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2019 Viscous pour, creamy tan head. Aroma and taste are of molasses, licorice, baker's chocolate. Silky palate. Sunday morning breakfast stout of the week.
