Idiosynkrasie (16103) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUL 14, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 14, 2020 375ml bottle. Cloudy, amber colour with bubbly white layer on top. Sweet-ish, malty, oaky and alcoholic aroma, notes of marzipan, hints of glue, thinner, acetone, some mustard seed. Taste is sugary sweet malty, almost peppery spicy, pungent alcoholic, slightly dry oaky, minimally floral, hints of marzipan, a touch of rose water, soem mustard like spiciness, a touch of honey; warming alcoholic finish. Oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine and soft carbonation. Quite boozy, interesting spicy aspects - heavy stuff.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2019 Botella 37,5. Cl de Cervezalandia tomada en Oviedo 07..03..2019. (r102).

Kaaz (24) - NORWAY - FEB 13, 2018
UPDATED: FEB 13, 2018 Min absolutte favorittserie blant barleywiner. Åpenbart at noen her heller burde samle på frimerker enn å omtale øl.

375 ml bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy dark orange/amber color with a small dense cream colored with with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, orange zest, sherry, cognac, brandy, vanilla, toasted oak, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, and biscuit; with light notes of herbal, grass, leather, tobacco, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, brandy/wine barrels, and light earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, orange zest, sherry, cognac, brandy, vanilla, toasted oak, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, and biscuit; with light notes of herbal, grass, leather, tobacco, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy hop bitterness and brandy/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruit, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, orange zest, sherry, cognac, brandy, vanilla, toasted oak, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, biscuit, leather, tobacco, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, brandy/wine barrels, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitterness and brandy/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly slick/syrupy/sticky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden; a light-moderate increasing warmth, with minimal booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this an insane English barelywine! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, brandy/wine barrels, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the massive ABV. Insanely rich and complex; with perfectly balanced fruity yeast, sweet dark malts, and (assumed) Brandy/Sherry barrel flavors; with just enough hops to balance the sweetness. A highly amazing offering.

DuffMan (10981) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 23, 2017
Bottle, shared with thephantomhennes. Golden amber with a creamy head, looks pretty much identical to the Troncais. Fruity, golden syrup and apricot jam, definitely more toastiness to this one, with similar prominent vinous notes and nice acidity in the finish. Boozy, but not at all unpleasant or harsh. After two in a row from this series, we were pretty boosted.

Bottle 0,375. Pours hazy orange with small off-white head. Aroma of wine, barley, molasses, banana, yeast, alcohol. For some reason I thought of the glue in model planes. Taste is molasses, yeast, bread, alcohol, some sourness in the aftertaste. Medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation.

Sehr süßer Geruch. Alkoholisch brennender Beginn, weniger süß als gedacht, hell holzig. Der Alkohol verschärft sich, unsüffig. 7/6/4/6/9/5
