COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
L’Archange is a hefeweizen - a traditional German-style white beer whose distinct fruit flavours come from special yeast. It has both the sweetness and the rigour of this archangel who comes from the highest celestial sphere.

500ml bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with some yeast particles floating around and a medium, fizzy, short lived, white head that laces. Aroma of grainy wheat, yeast, light clove and a hint of banana. Sweet flavour of grainy wheat, lemon, yeast, banana and a hint of clove with a slightly sour, acidic finish. Light body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Very average.

Ar: Clove, peach skin, and bubblegum; slightly graining; banana is present but low. Ap: Hazy gold; small white head with low retention, leaving a fine ring of foam and a patch of bubbles. T: Pronounced banana; a mild sweetness; clove is fairly strong; bitterness is very low, with no accompanying hop flavor; finish is more banana and black pepper. P: Medium body with high carbonation; finish is medium-dry. O: A very quaffable German-style hefeweizen; all of the hallmark flavors are present, and the balance is nice; the beer could use a billowing head, but otherwise it comes across as fairly traditional.

Pours barely any head, just a thin coating. Has a very cloudy lemony golden appearance. Pretty weak lacing. Sediments are clearly visible. Mild tropical fruit aromas, hints of bananas. Flavours are fairly mixed with pineapple, banana, bready malts and citrus hops. Nice and smooth going down, with a mouthcoating sensation. Full bodied and medium carbonation. Perfect patio type brew. Goes down real easy but has a bit of a watery mouthfeel. Still pretty good stuff!

Appearance: slightly hay pale straw with one fat finger of rocky white head diminishing gradually to a thick cap, spotty lacing. (3/5) Aroma: banana, cloves, wheat. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-low bitter, light tart. (6/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate carbonation, short mildly bitter and lightly spicy finish. (3/5) Not a bad Hefe at the outset, but the sweetness tends to get a little cloying after a bit, and the flavours a little medicinal. Neither is a dealbreaker, but taken as a whole the beer is just a little less than impressive. I wouldn’t suggest you avoid it, but I’d stop short of recommending you make a special effort to find it. (13/20)

500ml bottle pours a slightly hazy straw colour with a finger of white head that settles to leave some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is light fruits with banana and hints of clove. Taste is a light fruity and malty sweetness with the light cloves and mild spicy hop bitterness. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a well crafted witbier. Recommended.

Bière mousseuse, mieleuse. Belle apparence. Goûteuse tout en étant légère. Léger goût de sucré.

draught@Erzbierschof - light hazy orange-blond beer with a little long lasting foam; nice lacework; aroma of fresh cut apples; moderate carbonation and body, juicy and light oily; hint of sweetness and sourness; long juicy aftertaste of apples - ok
