De Garde produce exactly 0 of my top 25 berliner weisses, in fact all three I had are in my bottom ten (38, 41 and 44 /46). I really don’t get the hype and will call homerism for good measure. Those beers are horrid.

What’s will call homerism? Very few of those ratings are from Oregon.

Homerism implies locals overrating beers. This is simply not the case.

Ratings from those 2-3 raters per beer is right in line with what others are rating the beers. Highest percentage of raters being locals for any one of the top 12 = 20%. I see every corner of the US rating these, the midwest, england, canada, sweden, denmark, israel, etc. Seems like people are digging these beers all over the world. Not liking them is totally fine though.

ISO De Garde

Of the 77 De Gardes I’ve rated my average score is a 4.11. I don’t live anywhere near Oregon and I’ve never even set foot in the state.

Been diggin’ way I’ve had from the Bu series. Was tempted to write them off as non Berliner "fruit sours" but I tried the standard Bu recently... And it’s certainly Berliner Weisse that they’re dumping all that fruit into.

where you finding these brews in iowa biebs?
