mcberko	3.2 Block 15 / Hair of the Dog Hair of the Peach 500mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out bright peaches, apricots and plenty of hops — with a touch of bourbon. Flavour is unfortunately very bitter, with plenty of apricot upfront, a touch of peach, light acidity, and alcohol. This is hard to recognize as a barley wine, given the bitterness and fruity acidity. This is just strange. I don’t think it ultimately works. Sunday, April 28, 2024

Flavour is dank AF, with tons of pot-like hops, resinous hop oils, some pine, and a thin biscuity malt base. Very oily, dank finish, with the only sweetness remaining being from the hop oils. Flavour is rich, with tons of molasses, cheeey and bourbon barrels in good cohesion. I usually don’t like fruit anywhere my impie stouts, but in this case — with two excellent brewers — this work. Palate....delightfully spritely with notes of perfumed raspberry and sweet cherry, followed by a bit of funk and acetic-ness. The mid palate is dry but also slightly sweet. Good to have residual, dark cherry sweetness as balance, and the alcohol—last two Baltic porters I had were one the sweet side, which is traditional, but this has a little more hop presence, which is to my liking. Flavour is quite fruity and zesty, with plenty of orange rind, resinous hops, and a big, sweet, caramel malt backbone that seems more pronounced than other Sticky Hands variants. Nose...orange marmalade, cling peaches in heavy syrup, and a bit of orange Jell-O. Palate...sharp, astringent and bitter to start, followed by a big rush peach flesh and skin. The mid palate is slightly sweet and tingly, with more bitterness on the sides of the palate. There's more peach flesh on the finish, which is also a bit tangy. Monday, January 22, 2024
