Free State Sneaky Devil Belgian Ale

Brewer: Free State Brewing Company
Style: Belgian Ale - Strong Pale
Alcohol Content: N/A
Seasonal: Special

Description:
This Belgian Golden Strong Ale pays homage to the originator or the style, Duvel, meaning Devil in Flemish. Initially, the beer was named Victory Ale to commemorate the end of the WW1. But during the 1920s, an avid drinker described it as "nen echten duvel" in Brabantian Flemish (meaning "a real devil") and the name of the beer was changed to Duvel. Since then most brewers of the style have followed suit, with names like Hades, Judas, and Pranqster, to name a few. Sneaky Devil is a medium bodied golden ale with fruity aromas of peach and apricot married with peppery spice notes. Though by no means an IPA, this beer has a higher than average hop character than the typical Belgian Ale, thus contributing to the drier impression this strong ale imparts upon you palette. A higher carbonation level and lighter body than other strong ale varieties belies the strength of this easy drinking golden ale. Don’t be fooled though, at over 7 % ABV this Sneaky Devil can truly sneak up on you. 15.3ºP/1.062 Hops–54 IBUs
