I may make it into that London in May. Not much of an event, more of a thing. |
Originally posted by Erlangernick Let me know if that thing comes to pass. |
Originally posted by chriso Will do. I’ve promised myself my next day trip to London would be only to Sam Smith’s pubs, the Royal Oak, and maybe Spoonses. But we’ll see how that goes. |
Originally posted by Erlangernick That sounds like a rather dreary plan. No offence. |

Anyone around doing Bermondsey run this Saturday late morning, lunchtime, early afternoon? Thinking of doing Bottle Shop from opening, Maltby Street Market, A&H, BBNo and then down hitting everything else down to Fourpure. |
Originally posted by Leighton But I’m a rather dreary man. Nah, it’s really about practicing financial restraint and partaking of that which London offers that Thanet (our home for 3 weeks) doesn’t. Cask OBB and other SS beers I’ve not yet tried, a variety of quality Spoonses, and the Royal Oak...well...nuff said. |
Originally posted by harrisoni Could be. I need to do the Bermondsey run for the first time in a while as I’m starting a little project to visit all the London breweries that are open to the public. Or, more precisely, constructing pub crawls based on them as some are a bit too far out on a limb to justify a visit just to the brewery. |
Originally posted by Erlangernick You do you, brother. I just feel like visiting London and drinking in Spoons and Sam Smiths would be like going to Naples and eating in Pizza Hut and Dominoes. I will grant you that keg beer in London can be quite expensive. But if you are focusing on cask, you can get really good stuff at some of the best pubs in town and you won’t be paying a huge amount more than what you would in an SS or a Spoonies. I can appreciate the appeal of the Royal Oak, though. |
