Malone’s Urban Drinkery

Dropped in last night for a Green Flash event. Pretty cool tap takeover but staff were pretty inept, beer list looks alright, food looked sub-human so I passed. Many better options.

We stumbled across this place late in the afternoon and took advantage of happy hour and tried a few different full size measures. The place was very busy, but service was still efficient. Lots of choice for us first-timers in Vancouver.

Much nicer inside than out. Exposed brick and huge bar with tv’ that don’t intrude and a pool table. Nice big booths throughout. Service is decent but not beer focused. Menu is set so same old local craft with little variance. Pricing is a touch high for what you get. Pub food that is also a bit high for what you get. No real reason to visit in my opinion, considering what else is close.

When they went into craft beer a few years ago, it was quite welcome and provided a good downtown option. This may not be the most dynamic beer list, but there’s still some good stuff on there, to go with your pub grub and hockey games. Still worth a visit downtown.

Not sure what to make of this bar, really loud and being a game day of some description (i assume hockey), was mad busy. Some good choices on tap, a mix of local, international and regular swill.

This place was quite dead on a Sunday afternoon. Good selection of local / regional beers, but some crap mixed in as well. Samplers are quite cheap.

Decent tap selection. I asked for a bottled list and was told they don’t have one, which pretty much answers any questions about their bottled selection. Time of visit was a Saturday, mid-evening. The service was okay.

Decor, atmosphere, glassware and WiFi all suck mightily. If you must go, go for the beer.

35+taps of different brews, with a good change rate. Samplers available at 8$+taxes and tips for 5. Nice service.

Decent selection of local microbrews at quite affordable prices for Vancouver standards. Service is decent, the food is average / passable and the atmosphere is grimy pub-like. Good option if in the downtown area and need a quick pint or two of local craft.

Service was decent, reasonably priced beer compared to elsewhere. Selection is still somewhat limited, and they were out of my first 2 choices. Food was quite tasty. Worth a visit now and then but not somewhere I would visit regularly
