To begin with, this "pub" is not a pub in the usual sense but merely a bar with one long room. My experience was nothing short of dreadful, mainly down to the unpleasant barman who felt the need to snigger and make childish remarks after I had asked him a seemingly innocent question regarding other pubs in the area. The beer range was admittedly varied and my pint of Stout was well kept, however less of a stupid attitude would be welcome. Avoid!

Situated in a peaceful pedestrianized street, it has a narrow front but goes back a long way. There is a big range of both cask and keg beers, more than enough for most people, we always get plenty of new ratings in there. The pub was full of people watching the Rugby on this visit, there are quite a few screens around, but this meant we were able to get a seat easily near the front where there are non, I really don’t enjoy fat boys running around for a couple of seconds then everyone standing around for 5 minutes trying to find out what’s going on. A top pub and well worth a visit, despite the Rugger.

A proper alehouse along the pleasant New Walk. 15 cask handpumps, not all of them in use all the time but those that are promise interesting and well kept beers from the likes of Kite and Heavy Industry. A few keg taps (Budvar etc) and a large bottle menu are also on offer.

Nice enough small Pub located on New Walk, Lots of beers on tap at my visit, but not the full 33. Modern interior, more like a cafe with less charm, food was ok, service splendid. Recommended +

This is probably the best pub in Leicester in my opinion. The interiors are very modern with plenty of quiet corners to drink your beers although it might get crowded in the evenings or during sporting events. Imagine a English pub meeting a jazz club and it will give you an idea of the feel. The beers include at least one Oakham as well as a number of other local and regional breweries. Prices were very fair and in line with the rest of the city. The location is nice as well - step outside and you are on the New Walk which is one of the nicer parts of town. If you’ve only got time for one stop make it this one five minutes from the train station.

Low on name but high on ales. Located on the New Walk this has the added advantage of being located on a pretty pedestrian walkway between the Universities and the city centre. There’s a small patio area outside as you enter, clearly not big enough for the hot summer days, but inside it is ample, with room for bands to set up for live music. The look is more bar than pub, but fairly comfortable. The real draw is the selection of real ales available at the bar.

Most real ales in town, and most keg beers in town although no real British craft keg. Oversized glasses which are good. In my opinion beers are served slightly too cold, but otherwise quality is fine. Oakham beers feature heavily which is always a pleasure. A Beowulf dark beer always around too. Decent music on shuffle. Must visit when in town.

Great place, which is the reincarnation of Out of the Vaults. Modern interior which lacks a little charm, but the range of beers is excellent - with abt 12 handpulls and some good continental keg choices. Good bottles too!

Service is prompt and efficient. Selection is of course brilliant, usually the full range of 15 cask ales are available, from all over the county with an emphasis on Oakham and Yorkshire beers. Also a great keg line-up including Sierra Nevada. Added bonus of being within a ten minute journey from my student digs. Regular live music, morris dancers weekly. Beer is always well-kept; I am informed when I am getting the bottom of the barrel and invited to reject the beer. Top ups are automatic. Maybe this is all because I am a regular, I don’t know!
