closed until april or may… its way in the mountains. Ski-lift doesn't work most of the time. I would do your research before heading up this mountain. The view over the city is nice though. Easy reachable by bus, still a way out of the city. You can take the bus to Boyana church from here close by

Nice place outside Sofia. You can go with public bus, you need about 30 minutes. Large place, friendly service, nice food, 2 beers on tap.

Jídlo dobré a ceny vysoké.

First off, if you plan to go here, make sure you take a taxi and make sure you have the address. This place is in the mountains just outside Sofia. Thankfully, taxis are laughably inexpensive (if you are from, say, Western Europe or the USA) and it isn’t a very long drive from most parts of Sofia. The place itself is lovely, a good-sized wooden lodge set away in the woods. I went during off hours (around 3-4pm in the afternoon) so it was pretty quiet. They had two beers on tap: a pilsner lager and a dark lager. Both were good though I would say the pilsner was exceptional. The prices are pretty reasonable. In addition to the house beers they have a small range of standard macros. The food is good as well. As a nice bonus, they have wifi here. Given that there are so few brewpubs/ microbreweries in Bulgaria now, if you are a beer geek and you happen to be passing through Sofia this place is basically a must-visit. Well worth the journey.

The beers on offer on our visit were just a blonde and a dark beer. Both were ok, the food was good and the service was great. It is the location that makes this place, on the slopes of the Vitosha mountain in the outskirts of Sofia. Looked everywhere for an exact address but could not find one anywhere. When you get here you realise why. There is not really anything else near it, the taxi driver seemed to know where it was and as you get nearer there are signs directing you off the main road. Apparently it burned down a couple of years ago and what you now get is a kind of mock alpine lodge with outside kid’s play area and large patio for al fresco dining.
