Valmiermuiža Alus Tirgotava

Been there before, but never did add a review. Nice little beer store with a decent selection of most of the popular Latvian craft breweries. For me, their beers seem ok price but other brewery beers feel a bit expensive, but not the biggest in Riga for sure. Probably a bit more touristy spot, but should be plenty of locals also. Other things around are also worth visiting, so definitely, a place to visit for craft beer fans in Riga if not for this place, then for the area in general.

Not sure how this is not rated yet by me, but was one of the stops during Riga Pours 2019 visit. Ok bar and shop, not too memorable, but ticks were found and prices were not expensive. Would visit again.

Nice enough place on the same weird post-apocalypse site as Labietis. Beers were ok but nothing special as was the food. Prices on the high side for Riga. For better & cheaper beer head round the corner to Labietis.

Located just around the corner of Labietis, selection is decent with understadably alot of valmiermuiza. Service friendly. Like other reviews said part of the bar was obstructed by some tables. Prices are ok.

NEW REVIEW (2018) Went back here recently for the first time in a while (a couple of years), and was forcefully reminded of all the reasons I stopped going in the first place. A long row of taps which on closer inspection was several copies of a small number of beers. The inability to examine the taps closely because there were tables (with people sitting in them) actually up against the bar. A list of beers chalked on the wall which bore no resemblance to what was actually available. Staff who seemed to have no idea of what beers the brewery produced. Fridges fully stocked but the contents of which appeared to be a state secret . Food available but no signs of a menu. [ The first beer I asked for wasn’t available. Nor I think was the second one, but instead I got served something that sounded very vaguely like it. C’mon does “kviesu” really sound like “friss” ?! ] The only thing I can say has definitely improved is that the staff were no longer hiding out of sight by sitting on low stools behind the bar. There are probably ticks waiting for most people here, but good luck in trying to find them ! ADDENDUM JULY 2019 Well things have improved a bit here. The taps on the bar now seem to be more varied, and include other Latvian breweries. I managed to get a tick from the home firm. There’s still a table and seats right next to the bar, but it was empty – so I sat at it ! The main improvement however is that there are sample bottles of what is in the fridge arrayed out along the bar, making it much easier to find. The list chalked on the wall is STILL completely wrong though. In fact I don’t think it had changed since my last visit ! OLD REVIEW (2016) This place isn’t as good as it seems to think it is ! Had about 5 of their own beers on tap, but didn’t seem to understand which one I wanted (Kviesu). Had a number of bottles displayed on the counter, but on closer inspection these turned out to be all their own as well. There may have been others in the fridge, but it was impossible to see, that there are no lists. Service left a lot to be desired, One staff member spent most of the time sitting down in a corner behind the bar, so he couldn’t be seen from anywhere else ! And contrary to a previous poster food here is NOT cheap. Can get crowded during the week, but was virtually empty on a Sunday evening last time I went.

Located in a parking lot behind Labietis. Modern place by a large brewery with a shop attached, friendly professional service. Selection is almost entirely Valmiermuiža obviously, they have some interesting traditional beer and the tap quality was great so definitely worth checking out in my opinion. They had 2 Brengulu alus beers in excellent condition. Great place to try Valmiermuiža beers in prime quality.

Right around the corner from Alus Darbnica Labietis, and worth popping into. Upper-scale restaurant feel to the place. A half-dozen taps, plus some more bottles. They do flights, but it's 4 x 0.2L plus snacks for €12.90, so not cost effective. Staff are happy to give free samples. I found a nice Baltic Porter that is worth seeking out.

Located at the parking-lot of the large Rimi-Supermarket. Brewery-tap with a nice selection of Bottles - all of their own stuff and 3 fridges full of beers from other Baltic breweries. Very nice service, growler-filling of all of their beers plus nice wines and local fruit-wines. I liked the atmosphere and the service. Very friendly.

Smallish place, serving bar and some tables. Beer shop at the far end. Selection was small but interesting and staff were helpful. Worth a look.

Mainly their own beers on tap, but a larger selection from other breweries in bottles. Didn’t manage to stay long due to the long time it took at the "fast" food place next door (40+ min for a burger). The beer was ok, but nothing fantastic. Worth a stop if you happen to be in the area, but nothing to go out of the way for.
