The tap list in the Cafe Bruxelles is unimpressive (just Whitstable Bay Pale Ale) but there was a decent Belgian bottle list chalked up on the blackboard. The real draw of the place is its fabulous architecture and fin de siècle (or possibly 1920s) grandeur. There are huge carvings over and at the side of the bar, a large chandelier and an impressive dome painted with scenes from various places around the world. Worth going in for a peek, if not for a drink. (Visited 21 February 2016).

Rather a glamorous building, outside and in, the interior ceiling being really quite impressive, but the atmosphere of a train station waiting room. The beer list is tiny to what it used to be with nothing unusual and all somewhat pricey. We didn’t linger for long

Cafe specialising in - you guessed it - bottled Belgian beers. The place is light and airy but by no means cosmopolitan... the faux-opulent ceiling is nice but otherwise has all the ambience of a transport caff. The beer selection is pretty good. Mostly your run of the mill Belgians but let’s be honest, that’s nothing to sniff at. And low to moderate tickers like myself will find enough to keep them happy. Worth a stop if in the area.

Impressive establishment, decked out in secessionist glory. Mainly a restaurant, but with a cellar bar and with a good selection of Belgian brews, as you would expect. Slightly posh, but not overbearing, this is a top spot for food and good beer, or simply a quick glass of quality Benelux nectar.

Beautiful interior. Great place to bring a female date. She’ll love it. If the conversation’s boring, you can still enjoy the beer.
