70 nice brewpub in Vienna, with a better interior than 1516 . Also service was better, as he took his time to seve us, rather than being anoyed not to be able to text for a few seconds. He did seem alsmost to try and be TOO ’natural’ in his ways, but OK. The food was OK, in general. I did not love it, and the chicken wings were a bit burnt even, but the other 3 guests at my table absolutely loved the food ( they took other dishes ) The beer itself is avergae at best, but does the trick in Macro-dominated Vienna. prices are agreeable, yet a tasting pallet would have been nice since they pour 5 beers , and nothing smaller than 33 cl |
60 My least favourite of the brewpubs visited. Tried the dunkle (sickly sweet, fizzy and pretty unpleasant) & the honey ale (nice). Food was ok and service good. More expensive than it’s main rivals. The nearby 1516 is much better. |
52 First: When i can read on the internet AND on the blackboard in the door to the pub that you open at 12.00 sundays, It would be nice if you where ready to pour a beer or 2 when we came around at 12.30. But no, we where meet by a closed door. According to the server at the next door bar Flanagans, this place opens at "Vierd times" so take that into considerration if planning a visit. Upon walking down here later in the day, one gets a feeling that opening hours isnt the only issue here. Big crowd at 1516, Flanagans, but only about 4 people here. Well, 3 beers on tap, 0,2l pours served in cute small mugs, some macro bottles aswell. Beers where rather average, but drinkable. Food we had was rather medicore. Fine service by a young and very smiling girl. Value okies for the area. If at 1516 and they are open, tick the beers here, Othervise not worth going out of your way for. |
62 I came here two times just for a drink when I didn’t get a seat at 1516. Didn’t have food yet, so I can’t comment on this. They have typical, average self-brewed lager beer and also one special brew, which doesn’t change too often though. At the moment they offer a Honey Ale, which is really quaffable. The other beers are nothing special at all though. Prices are average, service is friendly, but not the fastest. Propably the most memorable about this place is the interior, a pretty kitschy, ski hut like decoration, but I like it somehow. Overall definitely not the most recommended place in this area (beside 1516 there is also the Flanagan’s Irish Pub round the corner) and also quite far behind the best brewpubs in Vienna, but still worth a visit. |
52 Typical brewpub, very quite with ordinary beer list. Beers are good, but having 1516 round-the-corner, there is little purpose heading here... |
62 Have been here a couple times, usually when 1516 is too full. The beers are alright, but nothing to write home about. I wouldnt do any detours for them. Food is decent too, you get the typical schnitzel fare. The decoration ... I consider it somewhere between cute and overloaded. Location is good in the city center. Prices are alright too, what you usually would expect for the location. If you are in the area head to 1516 first, unless you want to eat (I had some bad experiences with 1516 food). Overall there are definitly better beer places in Vienna (check out Wieden Bräu, which is also not that far). |
62 Interesting place with a good selection of teddies, toys and historical artifacts. And the England match on screen. Beers acceptable. |
54 A schnitzelhouse. Viennese cuisine the dull way. My pork schnitzel was heavy on the bread, light on the meat. Service rather gruff. Partner’s chicken cordon bleu was pretty good though. Beers are alright if a bit dull. A tourist trap, but I suppose not the worst kind. |
58 Weird decor. Really nice and friendly service. Food was fine but they only had a light, a dark a honey ale, a hefe and a half-and-half of the dark and light beers. |
44 Quite cold atmosphere, with just a few forgettable beers. |
