52 /100 10TH FLOOR, PRESTIGE TOWERS, 99 RESIDENCY RD, SHANTHALA NAGAR ASHOK NAGAR Located on the rooftop of an office complex, use the what looks like a freight lift on the left when you enter. Service was ok but they do not offer wifi for guests. In a country where it is impossible to grt a local simcard this is just shitty imho , lots of staff idling, 4 beers on tap, flight available. Prices ok, beers where ok-ish. |
84 /100 135, RESIDENCY ROAD Rooftop bar of quite a fancy hotel. View is quite amazing. Service friendly. 4 beers on tap, beers where good, food was good al be it smaller portions, prices for beer good, food bit high |
80 /100 298, 100 FEET ROAD, HOYSALA NAGAR II STAGE In a good sense crowded, friendly and fast staff, normally 8 beers on tap, one was sold out when in visited. Flights available. Beers where decent, food was good. Prices where good imho, maybe bit high for food. |
70 /100 LEVEL 5, EVA MALL, BRIGADE ROAD Located on the rooftop of a towercomplex, views where iffy with burnpiles blowing smoke up in the air. Tacky interiour, ok service, 7 beers on tap, flight available, prices good, beers where below average, well if you are in the area and want to tick |

66 /100 #331, ROAD 5B, EPIP ZONE, WHITEFIELD Modern high end vibe. Beer quality fine, above average for India. Food was excellent. Flights available. Decent. |
60 /100 8 MAGRATH ROAD Large with an American brewpub vibe. Beer quality was fairly mediocre. Flights available. Fine. |
58 /100 LEVEL 5, EVA MALL, BRIGADE ROAD Modern vibed bar. Beers available in small pours. Very wheat beer heavy. Quality fairly mediocre. Fine. |
58 /100 10TH FLOOR, PRESTIGE TOWERS, 99 RESIDENCY RD, SHANTHALA NAGAR ASHOK NAGAR Rooftop bar with lovely views. Only 4 beers available, and can get as a flight. Quality was fairly mediocre. Food was good. Service fine. |
84 /100 135, RESIDENCY ROAD Rooftop bar, restaurant and brewery topping the Chancery Pavillion in Karnataka. Shiny new automated brewhouse is visible through glass from both the bar and restaurant; good views over Bangalore too. The brewery is owned by an Australian brewery called Cavalier and they employ an appropriately Australian head brewer, Nate Ross. Both food and beer here are top notch. Good variety of beer styles. Worth going out of your way to visit. |
74 /100 20/2 VITTAL MALLYA ROAD Visited 8th January 2020. Staying at ITC Gardenia, and this place was a convenient 5 minute walk out the back of the hotel. I was shattered from arriving early morning, but wanted to try a few beers in Bangalore, the brewpub was quite lacking visitors, but it was a Monday night, 9pm ish. The interior was dark, around 6 or 7 beers available on tap, and the brew tanks were nicely visible. The beers were varied, I had a weizen bock, a lager, Christmas ale and a rum infused stout, all were pleasant, friendly staff and great to try. Also found out my colleague in Deloitte used this as his regular place, small world. |
50 /100 10TH FLOOR, PRESTIGE TOWERS, 99 RESIDENCY RD, SHANTHALA NAGAR ASHOK NAGAR Was here on a Monday evening in Feb 2018. Not much going on, but I tried some of their beers. Not realky something to drive for. Quite bland. Service a bit slow. Very dark room and very rustic. Go to Arbor or The Biere Club if you want to go to a brewpub in this area. |
70 /100 #331, ROAD 5B, EPIP ZONE, WHITEFIELD A bit cumbersome to get there due to all the metrowork (visited in Feb 18), but definately worthwhile. Had a taster of 5 beers + 1 pint. Generally good beers, which is worth a try. Service very good. Had some food at the bar, and that was tasty. Quite nice ambience with great seating and a setting with bookshelves along the walls. One of the better brewpubs ive tried thus far. |
60 /100 62/2A SARJAPUR ROAD, BEHIND MK RETAIL, BEFORE WIPRO CORPORATE OFFICE Went there on a dull Wednesday evening. Not much happening, but the place is huge. Had a sampler of beers, which were in the light end. A bit too noisy for my likings, but probably a fun place to go on a Friday or Saturday evening. |
80 /100 62/2A SARJAPUR ROAD, BEHIND MK RETAIL, BEFORE WIPRO CORPORATE OFFICE The relatively recent Big Brewsky is quite a step up from it's original namesake. It is a brewery like its originator...yes...but so much more. It's really a night club brewery...if such a thing is possible...I say it that way because I've been to other nightclub breweries in India (a couple in Gurgaon come to mind)...where the brewery is more of a decoration or afterthought to the night club. Make no mistake, Big Brewsky is a brewery first...and a really cool night club second. The other thing...it's huge with a great mix of diverse spaces...much of it outdoors. There are also multiple levels (at least 3), a central carp pool, a really cool church-like space with stained glass windows...each with a window dedicated to an essential brewing ingredient (malt, yeast, water, hops), a DJ area...and lots of dancing space. The beer is good to very good...and the food is especially fine...for a place of this type (I enjoyed the pizza...when ordered well done). I was very fortunate while visiting Big Brewsky to be traveling with a close local beer friend who knew the brewers (Tales of Froth's own JJ The Keg Eapen). We ended up hanging out in the brewery and later in the club...with 4 different brewers from Big Brewsky and from 2 other local breweries. It was one of my best brewery experiences so far in 3 trips to India (check out my Arbor Brewing review for one of the others). Definitely a must visit when in Bangalore! |
72 /100 4TH AND 5TH FLOOR,GOENKA CHAMBERS, 19TH MAIN ROAD, JEEWAN GRIHA COLONY, 2ND PHASE, J P NAGAR The original Brewsky...nice place...good people...traveling with a local friend that knows the mangers and brewers. Great space...nice outdoor area. There were 6 beers...most were good...I liked the American Pale Ale best as it's a style I prefer back home...but with only a few exceptions (Arbor for instance) hoppy beers in India aren't what we have in the US...they are more like traditional English bittering styles. They also had a wit, dunkel, Belgium wheat bock, stout, and something called a "Hommlbier" which I wasn't previously familiar with. Good place to visit when in the area (but definitely don't miss "Big Brewsky's"). |
60 /100 #331, ROAD 5B, EPIP ZONE, WHITEFIELD Came here on 22.5.2018. Brewpub in the 6th floor of a corporate building in Whitefield. Very large room decorated like a library with some convenient chairs. Nice bar in front of the fermentation tanks The brewhouse is on the terrace inside a glass shack. Some seating available on the terrace. Had an American Pale Ale and a Mango Saison, which were both unexpectedly quite good. They also had a Golden Ale and a White beer. They open until 1.30 am, last beers to be ordered at 12:45 am. Overall a very pleasant surprise. |
84 /100 8 MAGRATH ROAD I really had a great time at Arbor Brewing in Bangalore. The place is a little hard to find, it is upstairs above a clothing shop. The staff was super friendly, and the beer was surprisingly great. As you would expect, they had a great IPA, but I really liked their wheat beer too. |
56 /100 Permit Room (Restaurant) 16/3 COMMISSARIAT ROAD Nice barbecue themed restaurant and bar in the outskirts of central Bangalore. Some Geist beers on tap, also Indian Bira beers as well as some more common ones. |
50 /100 298, 100 FEET ROAD, HOYSALA NAGAR II STAGE quite a nice venue in itself, but hideously crowded when we went, we were told at least an hour for a table. 6 beers available, no seasonals on our visit. unfortunately, the beers range from average to poor - the brewer needs to go down the road to Arbor to get some tips! Food was good and reasonably priced |
76 /100 8 MAGRATH ROAD hard to know how to rate this place - in comparison to brewpubs in Europe and America it’s nothing special, but by Indian standards it’s head and shoulders above the crowd! very American in feel (unsurprisingly), very American menu, but thankfully also American style beers, about the only brewery in India that seems to know what hops are! |
60 /100 MURPHYS BREWHOUSE, 139/28, THE PAUL, OFF INTERMEDIATE RING ROAD, DOMLUR LAYOUT Located at the 4th floor of The Paul hotel Bangalore - a bit off the beaten path. Place is divided into a lower floor that is cosy and calm, but unairconditioned when I was there. And an upper floor likewise cosy, but with loud music, but with aircondition. Service is friendly and fairly quick, and knows about their beer. They serve 4 home brewed beers of medium/high quality. Prices are fair. Food is good. |
28 /100 4121, LR ARCADE, HAL 2ND STAGE, WARD 88, OLD AIRPORT ROAD I only went to the bar. Here the service was slow, and very missleading - They had a special, a triple, that was introduced by the waiter as an english dark ale, not sure if any of the choices were correct. they had samplers though, so no need to buy a full glass of their beer. Value for the sampler was fine 275 rupee, but served on a very dirty wooden board with handwritten names of the beers that was unreadable. |
34 /100 Spirit Zone (Beer Store) SERVICE ROAD, MARATHAHALLI VILLAGE, MARATHAHALLI A liquor store, but with a big varaity of beer by Bangalore standards. Nothing exiting, just the usual Kingfisher and SabMiller stuff, but many different. So good chance if you are missing just that one Kingfisher beer, they might have it. Service is a cashier, but prices are fair (medium priced). |
68 /100 #331, ROAD 5B, EPIP ZONE, WHITEFIELD A long drive from Bangalore center, but not the worst traffic in Bangalore, and worth the drive. A selection of five craft beer, but in the very high end of Bangalore craft beer. Service is friendly and knows about beer. The food is very good, and the sell their beers in sampelers also. All in all a good experience. |
30 /100 Madhuloka - The Liquor Boutique (Beer Store) PHOENIX MARKETCITY, WHITEFIELD MAIN ROAD Dropped in while shopping in Phoenix mall. Not a great selection - Kingfisher and the usual SabMiller stuff you find around Bangaloer. Maybe 15 different beers in total. |
72 /100 8 MAGRATH ROAD Overall very nice place. Six beers on tap. The wheat was watery, but IPA’s not bad. |
64 /100 20/2 VITTAL MALLYA ROAD The place’s not bad at all by Indian standards - liked their smoke pineapple. |
70 /100 4121, LR ARCADE, HAL 2ND STAGE, WARD 88, OLD AIRPORT ROAD Beers were average to good when I visited...nothing outstanding. The place however is pretty cool. There are actually several venues in the same building as you ascend the stairs (or elevator of course). It was pretty dark in the main bar in daytime. This was just a craft beer bar I checked out on a craft tour with come local friends. There were many better ones we visited. I did like the rooftop bar very much. Of course this place is a bit out of the way. I wouldn’t make a special trip here...but if in the area check it out. |
52 /100 #331, ROAD 5B, EPIP ZONE, WHITEFIELD Nice big dining place, 4 own brew on tap at each time. Bookshelves along the walls filled with books. Nice not to loud playing jazz music. Beers was nice. WIFI in place for guests. This place is definitely worth a visit if you go Bangalore. Visited 24.09.2015. |
30 /100 20/2 VITTAL MALLYA ROAD Disapointment. Counted 10 tap tower, only 3 where in use. No bottles. Listed 6 beer on the bord. Must admit I was only
downstairs, there were also upstairs, but was so disapointed that I did not even bother go upstair. The people serving had
little or no knowledge about beer. Only good was they had tasting samples. The beer was ordinary, no real good ones. Not
a place I will go again. Visited 22.09.2015. |
54 /100 8 MAGRATH ROAD This place impressed me and is a place i certainly can recomend to visit. The area was big, the food was ok, WIFI in place.
The bartenders where nice and was showing great interst in the beer they sold. I counted 10 Taps, but there whas a bardisk
at the other end of the place too, so I will guess the total was 20 taps. Only selling own beers from tap. unfortunally
only 5 of the taps was in use. However I got to taste the beer that was currently rated as India no 1 & 3 on RB and they
where surly telling why this brewery currently possessing all the 5 top RB rated beer in India. Visited 22.09.2015. |
40 /100 298, 100 FEET ROAD, HOYSALA NAGAR II STAGE Nice brewpub, 8 taps all own beer, no bottles. Little loud music for my ears, but other like that. No WIFI. On question
if they had smaler samples the answer was no, they only sell 500ml, Later I discovered inthe menu that they had package of
6x Smaller for tasting samples. Not giving any good impression discover that after asking and get no. Beer was not the
best ones either and of the 8 taps ther was only 4 in use, remaining was empty. Visited 21.09.2015. |
74 /100 20/2 VITTAL MALLYA ROAD In the heart of the city and the original Bangalore brewpub. Nice cosy beer house with a beautifully painted wall. Nice and worn. Not too plastic and modern like many brewpubs out there that are more like nightclubs. Five beers on tap when I came. A great little boozer and what I like about this place is that it’s all about the beer! |
56 /100 2/3, ABOVE PANTALOONS, SONY WORLD JUNCTION, 80 FEET ROAD, KORAMANGALA Quite a way out of the town centre on the inner ring road. A modern night time place which brews it’s own ales. Three of the four beers were acceptable. The food was awesome and my chicken biryani was they best I ever had. The service was decent and the staff were generally attentive but not overbearing. Wifi didn’t work. Probably not worth coming to unless you are close by or want the ticks. The gents toilets were dreadful! |
62 /100 Drops Total Spirits (Beer Store) 2006, 100 FEET ROAD, HAL 2ND STAGE Well, I’ve been to a few bottle shops in Bangalore and this is the best I found. They had a better selection of Indian beers than all the other places i’ve been to and I picked up 12 ticks. They have all the Kingfisher variants you could ever want. Can’t really comment on the price, but I paid 1000 Rupees for my 12 beers which seems reasonable. Maybe it’s cheaper elsewhere. |
38 /100 Bootlegger (Bar) 36 VITTAL MALLYA ROAD Didn’t like the place at all. Plenty of Indian beers but nothing like the beers other reviewers found here. Only two taps too. Rather small and unpleasant inside. A little better outside but I didn’t stay long. Pretty grim. I won’t return. |
64 /100 NO. 773, HAL 2ND STAGE, 100 FEET ROAD, NEXT TO AXIS BANK, INDIRANAGAR Decent terrace on the 4th floor with a nice view of the city. Nothing in Bangalore is much higher than this. Beers were poor I have to say but the food and service were fine. Don’t come here for the beer unless you want the ticks, but it’s a fine place to be at night. |
66 /100 MURPHYS BREWHOUSE, 139/28, THE PAUL, OFF INTERMEDIATE RING ROAD, DOMLUR LAYOUT On the 4th floor of the Paul Hotel, not far from the city centre and close to the Golf Links business park. Within walking distance of the pubs on 100 Feet Road. A medium sized hotel bar with a tiled floor and wood everywhere else. Somewhat dark and very cosy. The beers were pretty good (there were 4 on tap) and they serve a sampler of all four beers which is ideal for tickers. The food was fine and I can’t complain at the service. They were very pleased to see me and made me feel welcome. Decent view of the surrounding residential area. The staff at the entrance seemed obsessed with finding out what hotel I was staying in and the room number. I could have told them anything. Bless. The beer is brewed on the floor below and they offered me a tour. Drank way too much here just because the staff were so God Damn nice! A good choice for a Friday or Saturday night when many of the other brewpubs are packed. |
68 /100 8 MAGRATH ROAD Went here last Saturday and liked it so much we stayed for hours. Atmosphere here is excellent, best in Bangalore. Spacious and still got crowded in the evening. Thankfully, we got there at 4:0 PM and got a table on the balcony and enjoyed a nice breeze. They had eight of their own brews on tap, which was fine. Their IPA was decent so I had four. More than I normally drink, but the company was good. Windmill had a better IPA, but like coming here much more. Food was good too. If coming on weekend, try to get in before it gets too crowded as it will in the evening. Service was only ok. Was difficult to get a waiter at first and he wasn’t as friendly as the Indian waiters I’ve found everywhere else in this town so not a high mark for service. We made several craft brew spots while here in Bangalore and this was definitely the best of the bunch due to the atmosphere. |
72 /100 298, 100 FEET ROAD, HOYSALA NAGAR II STAGE A pretty huge and very popular brewpub close to the City Centre. Decent ales, although some were a little light. Good service and the food was fine. Not too modern and rather homely. Wifi was fine. They could probably do with a larger bar and it’s a shame they don’t sell half pints, but they did do flights. It’s great place to hang out! |
76 /100 8 MAGRATH ROAD Probably the best brewpub in Bangalore and that’s saying something. Quite a large place that easily holds 200+ people with plenty of seating and a nice patio at the front. The beers were impressive and much better than I expected to find in India. The food was excellent and really good value. The service was spot on and the staff really friendly. The DJ and table football were a nice touch too. This is THE place to head to first for any Ratebeerian in Bangalore. The wifi was a little unreliable but that’s just a minor issue. |
68 /100 4121, LR ARCADE, HAL 2ND STAGE, WARD 88, OLD AIRPORT ROAD A fairly newly constructed, modern looking brewpub on the busy Old Airport Road, about 2km from the city centre. Decent ales, great food and good service. Live music too, but the guys playing when I first came won’t win too many awards. Not so easy to get to on foot from anywhere so take a taxi or a tuc tuc if you want to risk it. It’s close to the Old Airportt Road / Inner Ring Road junction. Shame the wifi didn’t work but they have some pretty serious brewing kit! |
20 /100 Madhuloka - The Liquor Boutique (Beer Store) PHOENIX MARKETCITY, WHITEFIELD MAIN ROAD Only reason I stopped here was the hotel brews suck and there isn’t any other bottle stores around. Definitely not a good town for buying beer at the store. Their selection was very poor. Only some local lagers and top-named global names - Bud, Corona, Heineken, Fosters. Ugh! Whiskey prices are very high. If you can find better, please do. |
60 /100 #331, ROAD 5B, EPIP ZONE, WHITEFIELD This was very near the hotel we were staying at so had to try it since hotel selection was only bottled lagers. Library design with a bar area that was too small. Obviously, they are catering to those who come to eat and socialize around a table. Unfortunately, you had better have a reservation in the evening or you will be standing around a crowded bar area. They do not know how to turn table. Instead, you have 25% of tables empty, yet reserved for whenever the party shows up, so you need to get your name on their list when you arrive if you didn’t call ahead. That is my main beef with the place. Anyway, appetizers were good as were meals. They have a limited number of brews. Fortunately, their IPA was very good. Had a couple and wished I had more. Definitely worth checking out in this beer wasteland. |
