“Stopped by on a Sunday evening. Space was large with many TVs, crowd was dead. Staff happy to chat through what they thought was good vs not as good. In my opinion, everything was good, from a coffee porter to a hazy to a helles. No single home run but lots of doubles and triples across a variety of styles = worth a stop. Only drawback is no super strong barrel aged stuff.“

“In a strip mall close to the river. Busy space on a Friday evening, as it should be. Heavy on stouts and hazies but both (especially, unusually for me, the hazies) are very good. These guys are doing some legit stuff.“

“Behind a McDonald’s off of 53rd. Ambiance is good, with a good sized patio. Selection was over a dozen styles, the ones I had were pretty good. Good place.“

“Visited early February with Mrs. Owl. Same old Hy Vee atmosphere - clean, bright, white. Friendly service, knowledgeable if you happen to find the right person. I was able to get a few ticks from the mix 6 and some good fresh regional beers (some hazy IPAs canned literally days ago). I was also VERY surprised to see a big aisle full of tons of lambics, including Boon Vat and some other decent stuff. That aisle is particularly well stocked and under purchased, so go lambic yourself out! (No Cantillon or anything, but still). It's not a destination, but I'll be back if passing by or visiting the nearby breweries, etc.“

“Visited January 2019 with Mrs. Owl right after hitting Crawford. This place has a more adult vibe and they don’t allow kids, so keep that in mind. A little more upscale than Crawford, dimly lit, full bar, nice place. Bartenders were prompt and friendly, even gave us a couple extra small pours without charging us beyond the flights we ordered. Beers were definitely better than Crawford, but nothing insanely amazing. No food but a customer at the bar said you can bring food in and that the owners of 5ive also own the pizza place next door so you can get that. We’ll probably be back if we’re in the area, but it’s not a destination brewery.“

“Visited January 2019 with Mrs. Owl. Big place, lots of room, pretty nice. Pet and kid friendly which some people really dig. They have some (locally made) frozen pizza you can order, which we didn’t, but we’ve had it many times at home and it’s surprisingy good, so give it a shot. Prompt and friendly service. Average to bad beers, we were not impressed.“

“Stopped in for the first time on 12/26/2013 and I was impressed! Crust was happy to host a big tasting for us in their dining room, which meant they saved a 15 person table for us and allowed us to bring in a boatload of our own beers.

Aside from that, the place is super nice, pretty chic, the food is awesome, the service was impeccable, and the beer section is stellar, with a lot of help from heykevin, who is one of their beer salesmen.

You might think this is "just a pizza place," but the beer really is great. And yes, it’s a nice place, the food is somewhat pricey, but it’s delish, so suck it up.“

“Start with the beer...pretty good selection with probably 8 good choices on tap including some local offerings..for this area a good selection like bells two hearted...pizza good..quite good thin and delicious... My problem is the price!!..most beers that a normal person would drink are $6, $7 and up for a glass...that tops Chicagos finest for beer prices and this Iowa so don't really know what is going on there, Iowa in a strip mall and overcharging...there is a half price night, I think Monday, which would be the day to go..based on pizza and beer not cost it's worth a trip...price could be better...“

“Not bad for a grocery store place. Mix and match 6’ers, some decent bombers. Good for what it is.“

“On tap and bottled beer selection was not really as diverse as expected, the food was good but part of the reason to go there was what I heard about the beer selection.“

“I stopped in here because I heard they had 110 bottles or something like that and I wanted to pick up some new local rates. I was shocked to find they didn’t have anything I hadn’t had before. I was hoping to find some local bottles from Two Brothers or maybe some WI breweries but they didn’t have anything like that. Tap list wasn’t any better. They had two taps from local brewpubs, but I had already visited them. Then the guy offered me Shiner. Shiner! Really? Bah. The ambiance felt like a smoky Chuck E. Cheese, and the bartender didn’t talk to me much once I ordered a Bent River and paid out. He did say that the management was in the process of getting rid of several labels. Gotta make room for that Bud Light I suppose. I wish I hadn’t stopped.“

“Used to go here all the time, but I live about 45 minutes away and stopped making the trip after awhile. The ambiance is fine, but better during the day. At night the restaurant side eventually closes and the bar side fills up with loud, crazy, drunk regulars. Fun, but not for everyone. The service is usually fine, but better on the restaurant side. Usually on weekdays at night there aren’t enough servers or bartenders around. If you become a regular, though, you will be set. The beer selection, both draft and bottle/can, is large and varied, but it almost never changes. Once you get through your beer tour, you’ve had it all and you get tired of going. The food is typical, but good. Thick pizza, good sandwiches, and I love the Italian Nachos. The value is probably the worst part of this place and the reason I stopped going. The beers are very expensive unless you stick around for the dollar off happy hour prices at night. This fact combined with the fact that they barely ever get anything new is why I’ve stopped going. Overall, it’s a decent place with good food and a lot of beer, but once you’ve had it, you’ve had it.“

“Stopped in for drinks and food back in late July with some family and friends. Was pleased to see that they had local beers from Bent River (Moline) and Blue Cat (Rock Island) along with many other good choices.“

“Stopped in to check on their beer menu. Checking to see what local micros were on hand. Not a bad selection, food is typical Old Chicago. Overall a decent place to find a local beer and dinner.“

“I’ll admit up front that I don’t like OC pizzas. They don’t even closely resemble a true Chicago stuffed deep pizza and this chain can be expensive, 2 appetizers and a pizza can run easily over $30 and that’s without drinks. The " World Beer Tour" also I don’t think is worth taking, you have to drink and PAY for a lot of mediocre beer to complete the tour. OC does have lunch and happy hour specials that help reduce meal cost, but the quality is hit or miss. This OC has the worst overall beer selection of all the OC’s I’ve been to, and while this OC has all typical bar games that the chain has to offer, if you’re a nonsmoker, by 8pm the smoke level in the bar can get too much to take. If you have a chance , go to Bier Stube instead of here, the food and air is better than here at this OC. No Millstream in bottle or tap when I was there, an Iowa brewery. There is no real reason to go here unless you want a pizza slightly better than Domino’s.“

“Visited here during a weekday night for an early dinner. It wasn’t too busy when I was there. Same general beer selection as every other Old Chicago, a few regional micros, some common micros, and a bunch of macros. I got a burger, and it was good. Very large portions.“
