“This review is mainly based on my experience from the Solihull store. It offers a mostly different selection to the bigger supermarkets and also some decent churn of new beers. Compare that to Asda where I have gone 6 months between visits to find no new additions. Browsing experience feels less rushed than some supermarkets, Only downside is the Waitrose own branded commissioned beers and ciders tend to be very average compared to M&S. I'm sure one of their ciders was produced by Aston Manor who make Frosty Jacks. Seems at odds with the quality produce they are trying to portray.“

“All the big names in beer, but not so much in the way of smaller producers or local brewers. Supermarkets are very nice, apart from the older slightly run down ones, service slightly better than most supermarkets, but I still think M&S is better in that department.“

“Location in Southampton. Beeing with my friend Karol. The price is not special higher, Candy and coffee from there is great. Nice selection from Goddards and the price for that Ale from Goddards Brewery just a little lower than on Isle on Wight. Also so many beers from around the world for example: German wheat beer, Moretti, De Molen, Cobra and good Belgian strong ale. Thornbridge, Fuller's, Greene King and Young's selection is a little satisfaction for me. But the haven't any beers or ales from Southampton Brewety like Unity??“

“At the Stockbridge, Edinburgh location. Great Selection of UK beers (no sours though), many local scottish beers and uncommon uk ones. International selection is normal supermarket stuff (Flying Dog, Lagunitas, Duvel, Leffe). Not bad for ticks!“

“Top end supermarket chain. Really up’ed their game beer wise in the last few months. My local one in Newport, Shropshire has a great selection of unusual bottles and cans. Well worth popping into one if you can.“

“Generally I think that Waitrose offer a pretty decent selection for the supermarket beer shopper. A plus is that they always try to support brewers in the locality so for example Henley on Thames has Rebellion and Lovibonds whereas in Cirencester on Friday I noticed a couple from smaller Gloucestershire breweries, furthermore you will always get a decent beers from the likes of Oakham, Thornbridge and Fullers with the Vintage stocked here when released and the Foreign selection is usually pretty decent with Sierra Nevada, Duvel, Brooklyn, Goose Island all reliable stand by beers. Prices whilst not quite as good as some of their rivals are still very reasonable. Waitrose is a reliable and decent fall back if you find yourself needing to stock up and with no bottle shop close by.“

“Rating the Maidenhead branch in Berkshire. Good range of UK beers, with a few local (Marlow) bottles in stock. Not much in terms of foreign stuff. Overall a nice place to shop for food.“

“Chain of up-market supermarkets with a reasonable range of bottled beers. It’s worth noting that Waitrose managers are encouraged to stock local produce, so there is variation from branch to branch. For example, the Wokingham store has Siren, Lovibond and West Berks, while the Bracknell store has Windsor & Eton.“

“I’ve been here a few times, but again very recently. Peacock Farm is one of the better places to go for beer and food on the edge of Bracknell and is a Woodhouse and Hall affair, featuring a number of cask and bottled Badger beers and the usual array of mass market beers. A pleasant atmosphere and some fairly good ales.“

“I have been at the Waitrose in East Cowes / IoW. The selection of beers there is rather tiny, yet I found around 30 or so new ones which were not available everywhere else.Prices little bit higher, service friendly. Worth a visit.“

“My local is the John Barnes on Finchley Road. Not a massive selection, solid mix of Fullers, Youngs, Greene King, Badger, Meantime etc plus a few more interesting ones like Thornbridge and some Oakham. Foreign selection pretty basic. It’s ok for beer, occasionally they stock a seasonal but the range doesn’t really change very often. Doesn’t live up to a Booths for supermarket beer!“

“Waitrose stores tend to vary widely in their beer selection - some are great, others less so. The Ealing branch (quite a large supermarket) usually has a good selection. (Last visited 25 March 2014).“

“Been to stores in Devon, Cornwall, North Yorkshire. Nice selection of beers with many available as singles. Usually have a good selection of local beers but usually limited non-UK beer selection. Definitely one of the more convenient places to beer shop.“

“Stocks lagers and bitters like any other supermarket, but they have a good range of their own brand brews that are more specialist than value products. Their range of bottled craft ales are much better than the bigger supermarkets.“

“Huge typical English style pub near the center of Bracknell. Lots of seats with little people in the middle of the week. About 15 cask and draft beers and the same number of bottled beers. General macro beers mainly with a few real ales. (Camra accredited pub). Quit decent pub food, ok service. Ok pub in the otherwise bland bracknell but nothing special at all.“

“Rating based on my local Sunningdale store. Mid sized Waitrose but carries a decent enough selection of interesting beer. Always local options available and in the case of Sunningdale this equates to Ascot, Windsor & Eton and Rebellion. A few overseas beers available from Sierra Nevada, Nils Oscar and the likes. Service at the till is always good in Waitrose compared to other supermarket chains, pleasant staff and never much of a queue due to decent staffing levels.“

“Pub next to Bracknell Station, so I sometimes up in here having a quick beer if theres a long wait for the train. The atmosphere isn’t the best, and I’ve only tried the food once because I never fancied it again. On the plus side they now have 3 or 4 real ales on regularly, these tend to be Marstons EPA, Fullers London Pride, Tim Taylor Landlord and recently Sharps Doombar. Cheap for Berkshire.“

“High quality supermarket selling excellent food, wine and beers. They have some more unusual beer brands for the UK e.g. Chimay, Sierra Nevada, Karmeliet, compared to the usual Tesco or Sainsburys. Also stock Thornbridge Jaipur & Kipling, Fullers, and the more usual UK beers (Youngs, Badger, Ringwood etc). its a good supermarket.“

“A really good Waitrose for beer. Has a solid selection, highlights including Fullers Vintage (2011), Sierra Nevada Torpedo, and a range of other less common British bottles of beer as well as cider. Prices are good. For me, this store is perfect for when my special lady wants to go to the other stores in the shopping centre; I just come here and kill time. And of course there’s a whole range of food items here. I might not call this place a beer destination, but it’s certainly a good place to pick up a few bottles.“

“The only reasonable pub I’ve been to in Bracknell. Its not a brilliant pub by any means, but is generally fairly peaceful, the food is ok, there is fair selection of world (mass market) beers, and the guest ales change very regularly.“

“It’s a supermarket, and an expensive one at that, but it generally has a reasonable selection, including some more unusual Scottish and Belgian beers in the furthest aisle from the door. Probably worth a look if you’re passing.“

“A welcoming bright and open store with quite a good range of bottles beers to choose from, at least compared to what you usually find at Tescos and Sainsburys. The store’s selection is especially strong on English beers. We bought some interesting ones from Fullers, Ringwood, and Morland, among others. Opens at 8.30 in the morning. Recommended (visited early on 29.09.2010).“

“This review relates specifically to the Bloomsbury store - not all branches rank equally in terms of beer range or usefulness. Probably the best central London supermarket for visitors in terms of convenience and range. With the other supermarket chains you will usually have to travel some distance from the centre to find a full size store with the complete beer range. This one has pretty much the entire Waitrose range and, whilst you will not find too many rare gems, the selection is decent enough and the location handy.“

“So it’s a grocery store. So you can’t drink on-site. Well ... Every Waitrose I’ve been in has always had 50 or 80 different beers. Usually 5 or more are house brand - which is fun to track what they really are. One time I got Little Creatures. They often have brewer multipacks with all different ales. I added over 20 ticks from this store on my last vacation. Still trying to find out what Waitrose Czech Pilsner really is, or at least who brews it. This time I got the uncommon (in the US) Leffes and Kronenbourgs, plus a couple of Meantimes. Lots of the bottles are singles or multipacks that are all different. And the takeaway food is pretty good.“
