“Not in the nicest neighborhood but they get get beer in. It doesn’t fly off the shelves so if you’re looking for something local that’s older or a new release that won’t sell out in a hour, this is the place to go.“

“Stopped in today durign a break on lunch and was suprised by the selection. Best liquor store in the area by far. Good selection of regional micros and belgains. Prices were much lower than local Binny’s chain. They had quite a few brews that I did not expect to find there. They did have the worst build your own sixer section I have ever seen though. Would stop by if in the area.“

“Pretty much everyone else was right on with their comments. This is a nice liquor store that seems a bit miscast in the neighborhood. I was in the good beer aisle for about 20 minutes and not one other customer came through the aisle in that time. Plenty of bombers, odd Belgians and many micro six packs of regional and wide types. Prices were decent and when I got to the counter, they gave me a 10% discount since I was buying all the good beers. I highly recommend stopping in this store if in the area. The smallest build your own six pack section I have ever seen, but there was enough stuff available in singles to keep me happy.“

“Stopped here after coming up snake eyes at DLD08. The guys here were very sympathetic and helpful. Entire side of the store was dedicated to beer even though none of the local clientel seemed to care. Some very nice hard to find stuff here.“

“Pretty nice overall selection, found some DFH and such not available in Indiana at the time. For the location and it appearances, you will find yourself shocked by the amount of good beers. Worth a stop if in the area or visiting Flossmoor Station.“

“Stopped by here on the way to 3Floyds. Yep, sure is a strange area but the beer guy was there and more than helpful. I found 3 bottles of Behemoth and a few others that were sold out elsewhere.“

“Visted on 9/17/05. As some others have noted, I wouldn’t recommend exploring the neighborhood. What looks outside like a downtrodden liquor store has a surprisingly well stocked beer selection: a back wall of six packs and a reasonable singles selection (not refridgerated) on one wall. I picked up several De Dolle products and a few bottles of Alpha Klaus for 7.80 each. (They had probably 25 sitting on the shelf.) They stocked a fair amount of Doghfish Head novelties such as 120, Pangaea, Liquor de Malt, although no D’Extra, nor were there some of the other beers folks have commented upon. I’m glad I stopped, but I’m not sure I’d drive out of the way for this one. If driving north to Chicago, its a convenient stop off I-94.“

“From all immediate appearances, this is not a beer snob’s liquor store. It stocks rows of cheap booze, cheap wine and cheap beer. The cynically wary staff look as though they just cuffed a shoplifter 40 minutes ago and expect to snag another one before the close of the day’s business. The clientele pours out with 40s of malt liquor, jugs of Tequila Rose, and cases of Bud Lite.

Yet within this slightly uneasy microcosm of inner suburban upheaval, you’ll find one of the best beer selections in the greater Chicago area. Torrence may not have the sheer volume of Sam’s or the Binny’s chain, but they have quite a number of beers that are hard to find in those places. Not the most expansive beer selection in Chicagoland, but it’s probably the most unique. Unfortunately, most staffers are indifferent merchandise hawkers who know as much about beer as they do about astrophysics.

Beer travelers take note: this joint is conveniently located about 2 miles north of I-80/I-94 as they pass just south of Chicago. Exit north on Torrence Avenue, look for the Ace Hardware sign on your left, and pull in & load up your trunk with liquid nirvana!“

“Pretty decent selection here... but I like any place that can offer me DFH’s Raison D’Extra, Kelpie Seaweed Ale, McRogue, mustard ale, and other goodies. It’s a distance for me, but I’ll be back.“

“Pretty slick. Has a fairly good selection some good stuff that we cant get here in central Illinois. Probably the coolest thing about this joint is that it is owned by the same guy that own the liquor stop just over the indiana border. Buy a bunch and you will get a discout. Call ahead and he might be able to get what you want by the time you show up. Other than the manager the other employees are pretty cool and friendly, dont know about their beer knowladge but next time I will press them a little I guess. Check it out, they do have some good stuff.“

“This shop was recommended to me by hey_kevin. It is located is a slightly run-down part of town, and doesn’t look that impressive until you reach the back. Be warned that it does not have a very expansive beer selection, but what you go here for is the rare stuff. De Dolle Oerbier 2002, Rogue Imperial Stout 1996 (which I almost bought all of), DFH Raison D Extra, and others... good prices, but lacking a halfway decent singles selection. If you’re lucky enough to talk to someone about beer, they are great help. Worth visiting.“
