“Visited with shrubber on a visit to Louisville. Large selection, kind of ovewheleming for someone unfamiliar with the local brewing scene. Way too much to choose from, and almost all available as singles. Nothing glitzy or fancy, but you'll definitely find somethnig you haven't had before.“

“Big row of refrigerated cases and a long double sided aisle. Expected a bigger selection, but the quality is there. The lady knew exactly what they had. Place had fresh Three Floyds Alpha King.“

“Great selection of beers all available as singles - the best place in the area for rarities and limited releases. Reasonable prices. The best store in the area - a must stop. Of note is that this store appears to be a huge Whale Hunter target - they do combat it by having purchase limits but still the limited stuff goes fast.“

“I’d have to say this is the 2nd best beer store that I’ve been to, ever. The selection is amazing. There’s a lot of local representation, along with a good selection of West Coast stuff. Since I live on the West Coast, I didn’t care about that, really. The service was great, and the guy working was more than happy to help, make recommendations, and share any information about their stock. The imports were phenomenal, too. What else can I say about this place, other than "Holy shit - amazing!" I didn’t expect to find this in Indiana. Prices seemed fine to be, but I live in Seattle, and beer out here is expensive, so nothing really bothered me. Relative to other Indiana places that I went to, prices seemed reasonable.“

“This is the spot around the da ville area if you don’t feel like the lbs vibe. Good service good selection good prices. The more hyped or limited stuff tends to be grabbed up by the locals, which is cool but every do often there’s still great gems on the shelf. Always stocked to stop in and try to make it a point to go by when around Louisville.“

“A totally unexpected pleasant surprise. The place looks a bit rough from the outside, like the kind of place that specializes in malt liquor and cases of swill. Instead, there’s roughly 500 unique beers including some stuff that I’ve never seen on the shelves anywhere else in America. There’s a great selection of locals as well as limited seasonals from the bigger national players. Vertical Epics stretching back to 06 were randomly available. The European selection’s pretty superb. Loads of scandie options from Norrebro, Haand etc. Harviestoun Ola Dubh 30, multiple variants of JW Lees Harvest. The list goes on. I had a lot of fun examining some of the surprising stuff this place had in stock. Service was quite friendly. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, this is truly one of the better beer shops I’ve been to. An absolute must-visit if you’re in the Louisville area.“

“Passing through Louisville, I figured it was about time to stop at this place. Was very excited based on some of the reviews and the apparent website inventory. Like Peter, I was a bit disappointed to see a more or less entirely different stock in place. Loads of great stuff in a cramped space, including some nice bottles from Prairie, and certainly quite good overall. Good Scandinavia and Belgium entries, loads of top midwestern breweries represented. But expectations were just a bit higher.“

“PROS: Service is always helpful and doesn’t seem inconvenienced by questions; will find answers for you. Seems to be staffed by semi-normal human beings, and not the weirdos that usually staff beer places (the truth hurts). Selection is, for me, a perfect mixture of the new, the interesting, the eccentric, the hard-to-find. Todd (Antzman) does a nice job of keeping his inventory up to date (see Beer Available). WIth all of that, beers are actually priced very fairly; I’ve never looked at a bottle here and thought "man, this is too high" but rather "really, THAT cheap?!?!" CONS: Not an awesome building or location, but they do a heck of a job packing this place with awesomeness. OVERALL: I wish this place were next to me, though I’d be broke. For me, the best in the area.“

“Keg Liquors is on Lewis & Clark, which seems to be the main drag through Clarksville, across the river from Louisville. The place is fairly nondescript from the outside. The inside has a few long aisles, with one and a half devoted to beer. Prices are fine. The guy went out of his way to help me find things. The problem was that I checked the website prior to going and made a list- not one thing that was on my list was actually in the store. The website is not tied to the sales system, so it’s updated manually and therefore behind. So if you’re coming in from out of town, beware of that. Otherwise, this seems to be the best store on the IN side of the river in the Louisville area.“

“Visited on a Tuesday evening. Easy to find off a main road not too far from I-65. Basic cinder block building, with spacious aisles and a full wall of coolers. The beer selection is warm along the front and back of the center shelf, with a large selection also in the coolers. Focus is on regional and national craft, with a nice selection of imports, particularly Belgian. Beers from Crooked Stave, Prairie Ales, Fantome, 3 Fontein, Three Floyds, etc. Also had the Stone Vertical Epic series back to 06.06.06 which was impressive (and impressively priced). I was particularly impressed with the selection of Indiana beers. All beers can be purchased as singles. Prices were all over the board - $4.99 for a single can of Sun King Oktoberfest seemed steep to me. Staff was friendly. Certainly worth the trip over from Louisville for the Indiana selection alone.

82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Hidden gem that needs to checked out if in the area. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, hell doesn’t even look open. This helps as its not picked through. Walked in and instantly found rar beers that are not only hard to find but good. Tickers will be happy as well because you can take beers from any open pack. Prices are outstanding.“

“This is a great store. They definitely take a great deal of pride in their selection here too. Lots of beers to choose from, often times they will have stuff here you can’t find anywhere else and at a fair price. If they don’t have it in stock they are happy to order it for you if they can. Love this place.“

“Located just a short drive off of I-65, it’s an easy find. It looks unassuming from the street. Look for the vintage looking Keg Liquors sign. Inside you’ll find a very spacious, nicely layed-out, and well-stocked store. Not much ambiance to speak of. Just looks and feels like your typical liquor store. But their selection and staff more than make up for that! Their selection of craft and import brews is extremely impressive for a smaller store like this. Two large isles and several coolers stocked with a massive selection of imports and microbrews. Lots of rarities that you probably aren’t going to find anywhere else near here. What’s nice is this is a 5 minute drive from downtown Louisville, but being that it is Indiana, they can get a whole hell of a lot of different breweries that aren’t distributed in Kentucky (ie, Louisville). Keg Liquors is absolutely world class! The staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and talkative. This is especially true for the owner, Todd. The man knows a hell of a lot about beer! I work not far from here and visit often. Not once have I had a bad experience here. Instead I find myself looking over the beer selection for at the very least a half hour each visit, (usually longer). Their selection is constantly rotating with seasonals and rarities coming and going all the time. So you pretty much have to look over everything each visit or you might miss something special! Prices are definitely fair. In fact, it seems like they have even come down in price on most of their 22oz bombers over the past few months! If you are visiting Louisville or Southern Indiana, this should be a mandatory stop. They do frequent beer tastings, and you simply must come out to their annual "Fest of Ale" beer festival!“

“If you haven’t been in a couple of years, you should visit The Keg again. Todd (the owner) has completely transformed this spot into a true gem of a bottle shop. Very good selection of regional and national (U.S.) microbrews and an excellent selection of imports as well. Everything (nearly, although I don’t know of any exceptions) is available in singles, which is great for trying several beers at once. Staff is generally knowledgeable, and always willing to help. Todd himself always seems willing to talk beer when he has the time. The prices are very reasonable, considering the fare and the area. For Southern Indiana, this is the bottle shop to check out. It has been quite a while since I wrote the previous. I wanted to add a few things now that I am more familiar with the location:: The store is always in very good shape. Never dirty. Product is in its correct location. Todd routinely holds craft beer events, both for newcomers and seasoned veterans. His selection seems to get better and better over time, especially in the American microbrew area. As for value, for what I buy, it is excellent. On an aside, his German and eastern-European selection is very good.“

“Business took me to the Louisville, KY area and naturally one of the first things I do is scope out the potential beer scene. This place was a must stop after reading reviews and seeing how close it was to the border. It was in fact a very short drive from Louisville. Inside it looks like a typical liquor and beer store with no thrills. Rows of beer, wine, and liquor and against the wall quite a few coolers. Plenty of space to maneuver around. Aside from the nice selection of Three Floyds (first time I can say I’ve actually seen Three Floyds on the shelf), they have a very extensive selection of both domestics and imports. Three Floyds, Tyranena, Upland, Founders, Schlafly, Jolly Pumpkin, much more and again lots of nice imports. Stock seemed pretty consistent with what shows online, which is nice to know ahead of time what they have. Staff was friendly, not sure if they know a ton about beer, but they were helpful. Prices seemed pretty good. Maybe I’m blinded by the ability to buy what I normally cannot but they were a fraction cheaper than expected. Everything available as a single, huge bonus, and unexpected. Recommended. Heck, I might even go back again before I leave. All depends on the suitcase space!“

“Great selection of beer from Indiana. I’ve been making the trek across the river about twice a month lately. Many beers that we can’t get in Kentucky: Victory, New Belgium, Three Floyds, Allagash, Cantillon and The Bruery (to name a few). Todd has done a good job organizing the beer, and is always willing to talk beer. For the traveler, this and the Springhurst Liquor Barn are the best bottle shops in the Louisville area.“

“I definitely agree that it looks like a hole in the wall, but then turns out to have good selection. I really like the unassuming look. The folks at the counter were friendly and helpful. Their selection was pretty good, but not really as mind blowing as I’d expected. They certainly have loads of quality items, so it’s a very fine stop, but it’s not any better than other good quality beer stores (Kahn’s, Vine and Table, etc.) in the state.“

“Outside appearance is that of a hole-in-the-wall liquor store, an appearance that belies the wonders within. This place has an unreal selection of hard-to-find beers both domestic craft beer as well as unusual imports. Excellent service complements the large selection and the only drawback is the effort required to make up one’s mind and not overspending. Much better selection than any other Louisville area beer store. Highly recommended.“

“I stopped in just after the remodel when some of the shelves were missing. As a result I got to see the back room ad all the good stuff hidden back there (which is probably now on the shelves). If you want regional breweries like Three Floyds or Upland this is the easiest place to get them in the Louisville area. Close to the New Albanian as well it sits just off the interstate. The service was fantastic; by the time I left I had dropped well over $100 filling a case with things that don’t make it up to Ohio.“

“This old store is an easy drive from Louisville and only about 4 miles from Rich O’s so I will most certainly be coming here on my future visits to this town. For the majority of my visit, my mouth was agape with shock at the quality of the selection. Bear in mind I live in TN, so this kind of thing is most impressive, but I’d say it rivals any other beer store in any other state that I’ve visited. I’ve never seen one store that had Hoppin Frog, Norreboro, Olfabrikken, Mikkeller, Three Floyds, and a handful of other gems like 120 minute, Avery Mephistopheles, Stone RIS at the same time. The selection here is staggering with everything available in singles. 6 packs are stored in a cooler along with a handful of bombers and another hundred or so bombers are warm on a shelf. Of course I was concerned about the age of some of these beers, given the enormous selection and the fact that everyone else during my visit was buying Bud Light. I asked the clerk if she thought the Dreadnaught had been there for a while. She politely told me that in all honestly, it was most likely not fresh. What a shame, all those Dreadnaughts just dying away in the fridge. I did pick up some Alpha King which still had a pretty good hoppy punch and bought mostly imperial stouts and Belgian style brews and ended up spending $133. The 6 packs are reasonably priced, I paid $11 for a sixer of Siberian Night. However, start breaking up the 6 packs and you start paying a much higher price. Anyway, this is a fantastic stop for me. Now I’m sitting in my hotel with a cooler filled with Beer Geek Breakfast, Robert the Bruce, Alpha King, Expedition, BORIS, Peche Mortel, 3 Fontenien Kriek, etc. etc. . . I am happy.“

“I visited this place on my way home from work (at Rich O’s, which is awesome!) after hearing about it here. I was trying to get in and out so denied the owner when he asked me if I needed help though I didn’t need help, if I had more time I might have liked to just chat about beer with him. The micro selection wasn’t that huge, but included some beauties I though I would never encounter within a drivable distance from my house (20 min or less). The only micros I saw were stored warm on a long shelf isle (so if perhaps there is a micro cooler section and more good beer here than i though!) I got a single 11.2 oz. of Pannepøt ($7-8) and a bomber of 2007 FFF Behemouth ($16). I can’t wait to go back with more money. A must stop if in the area. [RE-RATE] Boosting the selection from 14 to 15. This place moved to a new location (really just a new building considering the new location is essentially in the parkinglot of the old location). “Excellent new store with plenty of coolers and two full aisles of beer – one for foreign and one for domestic. Everything is single serve (unless boxed) and there’s a great selection of beers. Plenty of Indiana and Kentucky beers I can’t get in Wisconsin as well as Brooklyn, Great Divide, Clipper City and Hoppin’ Frog which don’t make it up there either. Todd was in the store that day and walked up and down the aisles with my wife and I answering all our questions and giving recommendations – excellent customer service. It’s definitely my new go-to beer store in the Louisville area and it’s just off I-65 so if passing through make sure to stop in.“

“Amazing selection. I think I went in when the temporary help was running the place, because they had no idea what was going on. Rather pricey, some of the selection out of stock, not the best part of town. All that aside, I will definitely be stopping in here to re-up my collection every time I am in the area. Great place!“

Huge selection including BBC, Avery, Stone, Rogue, Three Floyds, lots of Belgian seasonals, Brooklyn, too many to name. “Long overdue rating of this place. IMO the best bottle shop in the area by far. Todd is always more than willing to help you find the perfect beer, track down and order something special for you, or just chat it up about beer. Amazing selection of Three Floyds, Stone, Founders, Dark Horse.......the list could go on and on....oh and a crazy good import section that always has a great selection of De Dolle, a lot of crazy English beers that you wont see anywhere else.....just check out the website you will see what I mean. Just a fantastic little bottle shop. If you are ever in the area and only have time for one stop......make it keg and you wont be sorry.“

A great selection of Three Floyds, Founder’s, Bell’s, etc. that seems to improve everytime I visit. Credit goes to Todd who is very knowledgeable and provides excellent service. “This place is about 25 miles from my home in Louisville, and I found it well worth the trip. A terrific selection of high-quality and highly-rated beers, many of which we cannot find just a few miles south in Kentucky. It thrilled me to find Three Floyds, Founders, Dark Horse, Sprechers and Old Foghorn on my first trip. Plus you gotta love a place that puts "Bigfoot is Here!" on the outside marquis, and has cases of the stuff stacked just inside the door. They do allow you to break sixers. A few can be matched for the six-pack price, but mostly I just picked up a bunch of singles. The service was incredibly friendly, but not overbearing. Everyone who helped me was knowledgeable and helpful. And prices were in line with what one would expect for the quality of beers they carry. (for example, 6 packs were $14.99 for Old Foghorn, $10.99 for Bigfoot, ~$9+ for Founders stuff, and bombers were $8.50 for 3F AlphaKlaus, $4.99 for Gumballhead). I don’t know how it took me so long to find out about this store, but it will certainly become a regular stop. It was a little difficult to spot, in the tangle of signs for other local businesses and shops, but once I found it, parking was not a problem and the place was great. “
