42 /100 Hopfenkult - Der Craft Beer Store (Beer Store) GÖRLITZER STR. 25 I've never been here before, but from the pictures that I've seen prior to visiting, I was really disappointed. The shelves were only 20% full. To which we were told they were waiting for a delivery. There was someone in choosing beer as we entered, we went and chose our beer and returned to the counter to be second in line. The server had disappeared and was with a third customer helping them choose their beers. All well and good, but there were people waiting to be served. Once eventually served we took a seat and the server disappeared again. Someone else came in but eventually gave up and left. We were going to get more beer, but without a server how could we? |
64 /100 Glu-Hutte (Bar) NEUMARKT, 01067 Beer stand in Neumarkt with good German beer. |
60 /100 01097 DRESDEN German biergarten with the average German beers. |
66 /100 LOUISENSTRAßE 74 Really rocked down beer bar in the alternative heart of Dresden. Really small place (guess 12 seats) inside, a few tables outside. 1 beer on tap (Pilsner Urquell) but 3 fridges full of bottles. Nice selection of local craft beers and a lot from abroad. Fait prices. Not for hardcore geeks, but nice for stop over. |
58 /100 Raskolnikoff (Restaurant) BÖHMISCHE STR. 34 Russian restaurant with 3 craft beers on tap. Worth a stop just to try the Helles brewed for them by Neustädter Hausbrauerei |
76 /100 Watzke Brauereiausschank am Goldenen Reiter (Restaurant) HAUPTSTRASSE 1 Best beers in town for sure. They do flights. Unfortunately the Goldener Reiter was covered for restorations, so I need to come back and drink their delicious pils again |
74 /100 Zum Bautzener Tor (Restaurant) HOYERSWERDAER STRASSE 37 Nice old-school Gaststätte, where you can try on tap beers from Hausbrauerei Schwingenheuer. Food looked nice but I did not try it |
64 /100 AM BRAUHAUS 8B Come here, have the flight, get 4 new rates, leave. Service is friendly and the biergarten looks nice (but flight only available in restaurant). |
82 /100 Zum Gerücht (Bar) ALTLAUBEGAST 5 Loved this place. Worth the 30 minutes ride with the tram. Very nice interiors, super friendly and smiling service. Only two hausbier brewed for them. Not special, but average. Had the schnitzelburger for dinner. Highly recommended! |
60 /100 Zapfanstalt (Bar) SEBNITZER STR. 15 A bit too small for my taste. Selection is large, but mainly macro-craft (Maisel, Sierra Nevada and the likes). Two hausbier. 0,1 pour available. |
68 /100 Planwirtschaft (Bar) LOUISENSTRASSE 20 Very nice place, especially the biergarten. Service maybe a bit rude, or just sächsisch. Large selection: worth a stop to collect 5/6 ticks. |
76 /100 Hopfenkult - Der Craft Beer Store (Beer Store) GÖRLITZER STR. 25 The usual Bierothek. Large selection from their core range + lots of local breweries. Service is nice and might be helpful, but I did not need them as I knew what to drink already.
Sitting possible outside (Corona times), drink-in possible. |
62 /100 KÖTZSCHENBRODER STRASSE 1 Big restuarant with a beergarten overlooking the river and a part of Dresden. Just a short distance from the autobahn, so easy for a short break. 3 beers on tap, the 2 we had was fine (pils and Keller) passed on the weizen as i was driving. Good and very filling food for lunch. Service abit slow since they where quite busy, fair prices. |
74 /100 Zapfanstalt (Bar) SEBNITZER STR. 15 Lovely small bar in neustadt. Meaning its cheap chill and rather small. Food is good and cheap. Beer selection is good and their own beers are not too shabby! In addition to its cheapness they have (depending on the day of the week) even more deals available like order a burger and get a beer for free. Everything on tap can be sampled in 0.1l. So really nothing to complain about. My favourite place in Dresden. |
54 /100 AM BRAUHAUS 8B Chill beergarden. There are two areas. Downstairs is self service and limited selection. Upstairs is with service and e.g. the taster of 4 you can only get here. Speaking of the taster: it includes a 'Bierstange' which is really worth its money. Food is good but a lightly pricey. Beers are mediocre on average but still worth checking out if you are curious. |
62 /100 KÖTZSCHENBRODER STRASSE 1 Chill beergarden near the elbe with a nice view of the altstadt unless the trees are blocking it. They have two always available beers and one monthly rotational. Also a taster of the three is available. Food is good but a little expensive (Altstadt price level). Worth a visit if you ask me. |
78 /100 Hopfenkult - Der Craft Beer Store (Beer Store) GÖRLITZER STR. 25 This is now a Bierotheque store. Nevertheless a bit friendlier and cheaper than other stores from the same chain. Good selection of local stuff and some interesting US brews. Definitely worth a visit. |
76 /100 Zapfanstalt (Bar) SEBNITZER STR. 15 The decor reminded me a bit of a 60s living room, place was quite busy and noisy on the Wednesday when I visited. My server was friendly and knew his stuff. Decent number of taps on, some interesting stuff, some not. Prices reasonable. Worth a look if in the city. |
96 /100 AM BRAUHAUS 8B nice place with lovely garden |
64 /100 Watzke Brauereiausschank am Goldenen Reiter (Restaurant) HAUPTSTRASSE 1 Central location in the beginning of the Neustadt just across the bridge from the old town at a big square with a golden statue of a horsemen. Big place with many places inside and outside. Nice monthly special beer on tap. |
60 /100 DR.-KÜLZ-RING 9 Hopped in here for a quick beer. I would probably prefer their location at "Goldener Reiter". Sat down at the bar, good service and a solid Pils. |
60 /100 Braufactum Dresden (Restaurant) ALTMARKT 6 Like the Berlin Braufactum outlets quite modern and nice looking. Braufactum range on tap as well as some of their imports and 'Radeberger. Solid place with a nice setting on a bigger place. |
50 /100 Freiberger Schankhaus (Restaurant) NEUMARKT 8 Next to Frauenkirche on a big place. Brewery tap for Freiberger beers. Flights avialable. Higher prices. Solid service and solid beers. |
62 /100 TERRASSENUFER 1 Quickly hopped in for the exclusive Zwickel from Radeberger served here. Enjoyed at the bar inthe basement. Quite nice beer for a macro ;) |
56 /100 Zum Bautzener Tor (Restaurant) HOYERSWERDAER STRASSE 37 Came early which I think was good.. The place looks a bit rundown and is probably packed in the evenings. Strange kitschy decorations. Copule of beers availabe from tap and bottle. Solid stop. |
64 /100 Gestiefelter Kater (Grocery Store) METZER STRASSE 1 I followed in Black Haddock's und Travlr's footstep One side of the hall is a small supermarket where you can get many local ticks for cheap prices. The Russian booth had one Belarsu and some more Russian beers when I was there. |
66 /100 Planwirtschaft (Bar) LOUISENSTRASSE 20 " Continue through the courtyard, follow the signs and you enter the restaurant itself. Continue through the restaurant to a quiet, peaceful biergarten." - copied from travlr as I did the same. Came very early and had a peaceful time in the garden. Local beers on tap, special beers brewed for them. Not really good beers but okay. |
90 /100 Hopfenkult - Der Craft Beer Store (Beer Store) GÖRLITZER STR. 25 Very good Craft Beer Store. Well sorted and very well thought through shelves sorted by styles. Excellent for lots of local Saxony beers as well. |
68 /100 AM BRAUHAUS 8B 20min wlak outside of the Dresden Neustadt. Big place with quite a history. Large outside terrace overlooking the river Elbe and the oldtown in the back. 4 taps, beers avaialbe as tasting flight including a snack for a fair price. Solid beers. |
84 /100 D&S Getränke (Beer Store) CONRADSTRAßE 34 Probably the best place in Dresden to buy beer on a larger scale. Probably a couple hundred beers to choose from. Rotating selection, so it's not always the exact same products. |
54 /100 Feldschlößchen Stammhaus (Restaurant) BUDAPESTER STR. 32 Not bad place with German food and beer. |
82 /100 AM BRAUHAUS 8B I like that place. Tipical German style. Only 4 different beer to choose, that is sometimes necessery in that crazy craft beer world. I like garden above street with nice view. |
88 /100 Hopfenkult - Der Craft Beer Store (Beer Store) GÖRLITZER STR. 25 A lot of German beers. In Saxony is hard to find nice craft beer, so you have to visit that shop! |
80 /100 Hopfenkult - Der Craft Beer Store (Beer Store) GÖRLITZER STR. 25 Nice beerstore with good selection of beers German and foreign beers. Helpful staff, good prices. My guess, this is one of the best beerstores in Dresden, if not the best! |
68 /100 Braufactum Dresden (Restaurant) ALTMARKT 6 Very nice place located at the heart of Dresden. Interieur is mixture of modern industrial and Art Noveau. 12 own on tap + 1 guest beer, lots of bottles a little bit mainstream (f.e. Firestone Waker). Serving Burger with a beer pairing. Burgers are ok, but nothing really special and rather small and more expensive at all. Smart staff who knows well about Braufactum and beer styles. Worth a visit for a beer. |
58 /100 D&S Getränke (Beer Store) CONRADSTRAßE 34 Dim, windowless Getränkemarkt, located - cave! - on the Hansastrasse, not on the Conradstrasse(!); quite a large selection of local macros and micros, completed by a pretty limited number of franconian goodies and the presumably inevitable craft-beer fizz. Not expensive. Worth a visit! |
8 /100 Zum Bautzener Tor (Restaurant) HOYERSWERDAER STRASSE 37 Okay, so I thought long and hard should I do it or on - writing review for a place, where I haven't drink a beer. Thing is, I guess everybody has run into situtation, where one plans to visit one place or another, checks theirs fact, if the place itself is gonna be open, will he manage to go there and ect. From experience, regarding the bars, it can be quite tricky. It depends where you checked yours info like working hours, are you going to miss that place or not. My story regarding this place, that on 2018 july 30th I was in Dresden. And this place was my on top of my priority list to visit. But before that I had to gothere and there too - only then heading to Zum Bautzener Tor. I checked info on few seperate sources (ratebeer work hours doesn't represent the truth), and what I learned - on monday, it will work till 01:00 - so past midnight. I came to place just before the midnight, and it was already closed, all the tables and umbrellas packed - it takes longer that a few minutes to do so, it means they've been closing already for a while. And feel me - I have trauma with my feet, drinking painkillers, walking slowly from altstad, enjoying nice evening, having planned everything, to go to Tor on my way back to feel "authentic" Dresden beer pub, all this determination, but thanks to work ethics of these guys, I was robbed of chance even to do so. I have been to many places, know my beer culture, know how sometimes bars close earlier because of lack of clients, but for god's sake, it's not like you gonna close 1,5h before official time. What's the point of official working hours then? If there are 30 minutes left, like buffer zone, it's all ok. But not a hour, not a hour and half. It's bullshit and disrespect to the people. You can clean tables, pack umbrellas already on official working hours, but a table or two, or a bar should always be welcoming for late guest - you are getting paid for this hours too, bastard. And because of that, and feel total right to express my opinion even if I haven't got a single beer here. Finally, I encourage you, my friends, to do so any time you run into damn situations like this. |
72 /100 TERRASSENUFER 1 A place situated on the bank of Elbe. And if yours memory works well, you will remember that in past two decades there have been some serious floods regarding Elbe. So inside this place, you gonna find two marking, one from 2002 and one from 2013 marking the highest point of flood. It means totally sunken first floor of this establishment - in 2002, water line reached 9 meters high. So ambiance are cool. On first floor you gonna see the tanks, where the beer is kept. Thing is, this place works as Radeberger embassy and if you have no time to visit brewery itself, it's almost the only place outside Radeberger, where you can get brewery's pilsner, and what is most important, Kellebier daily and from tank. And we can arguee till death, it's not Zwickl :P So it alone, for beer lovers, is worth a trip to this place. Enjoyed my beer here. |
70 /100 Augustiner an der Frauenkirche (Restaurant) AN DER FRAUENKIRCHE 16/17 2018-07-30 If you are in Dresden, bavarian beer is not a thing what you are looking for. But just happened, that went there. Usually, official embassies of Augustiner have Edelstof from wooden cask, but because it was hot as hell monday, they couldn't predict how many people gonna come, so they haven't popped one on my visit. Nevertheless, even from KEG, Augustiner's Edolstof and Helles are one of best in theirs categories. It was strange, that there was a anglo-sax style bar to sit by, so had a chat with bartender. Small, but nice detail. Beer, as everywhere in Dresden center, is expensive as hell. |
68 /100 KÖTZSCHENBRODER STRASSE 1 Large place right on the river. Nice terrace/biergarten with natural tree shade. Sort of a view of Dreden altstadt. Four beers on offer when I visited. Food is tasty and filling. Nicer than the altstadt location I would imagine, although I haven't been there to compare. |
68 /100 Planwirtschaft (Bar) LOUISENSTRASSE 20 There is a hostel right above this place, so it does a pretty brisk business - I visited early before it got crowded, and during a street festival when people were distracted anyway. They had some sidewalk tables, but that may have been just because of the fest. Continue through the courtyard, follow the signs and you enter the restaurant itself. Continue through the restaurant to a quiet, peaceful biergarten. Food was tasty and creative, more veggie and organic things. Pretty decent beer list from local breweries and from a brewers coop in Berlin, plus Erdinger for some reason. Friendly efficient service. Nice place for a meal and a beer. |
64 /100 Gestiefelter Kater (Grocery Store) METZER STRASSE 1 I followed in BlackHaddock's footsteps and found the Russian market stall here, run by a very jolly Russian lady. Multiple Russian and White Russian beers here, and the lady explained them all, where the breweries were, etc. Sadly no Ukrainian beers any more ("Ukraine bad. Always problems"), so politics affects the beer world unfortunately. They also have homemade potato pancakes and groceries from the Motherland. Drink in or take out, I did both. Well worth a stop. |
58 /100 AM BRAUHAUS 8B Thus place sort of is a small castle overlooking the woods. Or maybe there was a small castle nearby that was destroyed with the rest of the city, not sure. Anyway it's now a large hotel with a nice terrace overlooking the Dresden altstadt. Four beers on offer and basic German food, almost fast food style wursts and schweinhaxe. Beers were fine. Service was good. What's not to like? |
72 /100 Zapfanstalt (Bar) SEBNITZER STR. 15 Corner bar, large central serving bars in a dark interior surrounded by restaurant tables. Nice biergarten in back on two levels, ground level is just restaurant tables and one giant umbrella. A romantic couple wanted to use the second level, essentially just a covered deck with picnic tables, so staff obligingly opened it up. I did a flight, a good way of trying the variety of beers they had on offer. Prices maybe higher than your average German place but still not bad. Friendly staff. They do have food but no one was eating, and I had already eaten. A sign said All beers are Self Service on Friday and Saturday, so I'll have to return to find out what that's all about. |
78 /100 Hopfenkult - Der Craft Beer Store (Beer Store) GÖRLITZER STR. 25 As luck would have it, I walked into this place ten minutes before their weekly beer tasting, Tuesdays at 20:00. Five beers, four ounce pours, for 2 Euro, plus a 0.50 Euro deposit on the glass. Holy cow I love German beer prices. The five beers were a good mixture of styles and countries, and the guy explaining the beers knew his stuff. Very friendly female assistant too, both spoke perfect English. Bottle selection is large, in two rooms, with some makeshift seating inside, sidewalk patio, and overflow tables out back. About a quarter of the selection is in coolers. All arranged by style, not by country, which made my job challenging. Luckily there was a shelf devoted only to Sachsen bier, in the back of the second room. You can drink in house, so that's what I did before and after the tasting, and took some stuff to go. Nice place |
70 /100 Zum Bautzener Tor (Restaurant) HOYERSWERDAER STRASSE 37 This place has two entries, probably the Brewpub entry is more accurate since this is essentially the brewery tap for Neustadt beer, and the other entry links to the brewery. Corner location right on the main drag in Neustadt. Few sidewalk tables and three rooms inside, old and creaky with lots of character and kitsch. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A common refrain in this region: Yes we have wifi but it's not working at the moment." Food is tasty and very filling, some German and some Czech dishes. Three beers on tap and three in bottles, all were tasty enough. Worth a stop for sure. |
