“Large outdoor seating area, some of it covered. Inside it's a bit of a rabbit warren of small rooms. Around 10 beers available, cask & keg. I had a half of an Anspach & Hobday beer on cask. Reasonable enough place before we descended Highgate West Hill to visit the legendary Southampton Arms“

“16th century inn, diagonally opposite from The Bull. Interesting interior with some historic features. Outside seating both front and back. Around 10 beers on, both cask and keg. My half of a Redemption Brewery beer on cask was in decent condition.“

“Large pub on the main road through Highgate. Has a gastro-pub feel to it. Large seated area out the front and there is further seating in the garden out back apparently. There's a micro brewery attached to the pub, a few of theirs were on tap. Nothing too exciting though. The food was good but prices match the area.“

Angel Inn (Bar)
37 HIGHGATE STREET,
“Attractive looking end-terrace pub with an appealing plushness inside. The long bar runs along half the length of the building close to the front of the building allowing only a few seats between it and the front walls and windows, however it opens up after this where the lion share of the tables and chairs exist. There's a mix of both cask and craft keg available here, Tiny Rebel were well represented in the latter during my visit.“

“Large food pub with plenty of garden space. Has a very pleasant wood heavy interior decoration but sadly not a great deal of excitement about it cask options when I visited here.“

“Smart looking pub on an affluent main road, blending into its surroundings well, with a decent amount of garden space and the added bonus of its own beers to offer up something different.“

“Facing into the main busy dual carriageway road between Archway and Highgate stations, this public house is looking a little worn on the inside with a varied mix of tables and chairs with some sofas available too. The bar along the left hand wall includes a few local cask ales and a few keg ones too making it worth a look-in at least.“

Whitehall Wines (Beer Store)

“Corner off-licence in the suburban streets of Highgate. It has a fair selection of local craft cans and bottles from the main London players - certainly a worthy selection for this area where there's very few shops of this ilk close by.“

Woodman (Restaurant)
414 ARCHWAY ROAD, HIGHGATE
“High above Highgate tube on the corner of a road junction, this large traditional pub has a fairly plush decor and is very much a food pub, although there's quite a good range of cask ales available at the bar. If the weather allows the extensive garden area is a fine place to relax in.“

“Perfect place to defuse after a hard day at work, especially in the garden when you can catch the last moments of daytime. Great burgers with good beer.“

Angel Inn (Bar)
37 HIGHGATE STREET,
“We stumbled in here while en route to the nearby Highgate Cemetery. The area is very charming (and the cemetery is a fascinating place to visit), and this is a very nice pub to stop in. Nice staff. Empty when we entered, but they were obviously getting ready for an evening rush (with nearly every table reserved). Seems to be a focus on gastropub food, which we didn’t stay for. Had a cask ale that was in good shape, and was an interesting modern ipa to boot. If in the area, I certainly recommend it. But overall its just another above average pub in a town and country overrun by them. I’d gladly claim this as my local.“

Woodman (Restaurant)
414 ARCHWAY ROAD, HIGHGATE
“For me, this willl only be a watering hole on my way from the Highgate tube station to Muswell Hill, but on their website I see they have an extensive menu, a large garden (although the traffic noise must be unpleasant unless you’re a Londoner used to this), and lots of events. Limited selection of ales for the interested rb-diehard.“

“Visited on 10t January 2017. Large pub and reopened micro brewery in deepest Highgate. Decor is smart and it is set back from the road with step and a little terrace. Didn’t stop for food but it did sound good, beer range had 4 of their own beers on plus a good mix of guests including a Tiny Rebel sour. Service good, their own beer was also decent enough, prices ok too. Liked this place and will likely visit again.“

“A lovely pub well worth visiting, with a nice selection of bottles and guest beers on tap, but the main attraction is their own tasty and well-crafted beers. Will come again.“

“Visited on a sunny afternoon, pleasant to sit outside and not disturbed by the traffic which is unusual for any London pub. Inside was tastefully done, with hops drying out. Great own collection and a good decent selection of guests too. Food looked pretty good as well!“

“Visited to taste som beers from London Brewing Co. Had a few of them, served with a smile and in good condition. Bull is a modern brewpub, in 2 storages, very cosy and friendly atmosphere. They do food as well, pubfood with a twist, and not the cheapest :-).. Besides beers on tap, they have a nice bottle selection as well, mainly foreign beers. For sure worth a visit..“

“A nice pub which brews it’s own beers including seasonals. While leaning more towards food they do welcome drinkers. I suspect the food is of higher quality than the beers, which are certainly not in the same league as Dark Star or Oakham !“

“I had a very nice visit here on a Wednesday afternoon/evening after a jaunt from Hampstead over the heath to Kenwood house and then to this place. Tried their beers and food and while the beers were rather alright, they lacked a bit of flair. They did go well with their food though. Salad was especially good and plentiful while the sandwich was a bit lean on the cold-smoked salmon. Also, a bit surprised that it was cold-smoked since the menu mentioned smoked salmon only. Service was excellent. The lady behind the bar was eager to tell me about their food and beers and show the place around. Took me to see the brewer and the kit without even asking. Selection wasn’t that good. About four of their own on tap, the others were good beers, but mostly fairly regular stuff like Brooklyn lager or Paulaner Weisse.“

“Overall, The Bull is a great place to visit. Highgate is a lovely neighbourhood, and this pub fits in well. It’s upscale while still pubby, and the range of beers on tap and [even more so] in bottle is impressive. The only downside is that the house beers, from London Brewing Co., are quite average - at best; at worst, they’re amateurish. I tried four on my visit and none were really great. A few were fine, a few seemed to be lacking condition. Nevertheless, this is a nice pub and I’m hopeful that the quality of the beers will improve. The food on offer looks pretty good, although I didn’t eat on my visit. I’ll be sure to check back on this place.“

“Friendly, bustling brewpub with a decent selection of other beers on cask, keg and bottle. Staff were helpful and reasonably knowledgeable. Didn’t try the food although the menu looked good. I’d go back if I was in the area.“

“Nice restaurant/brewpub in a classy area of London. I tried some of their own beers, which were ok middle of the road brews. Food was very nice, tried a small fish platter. Decent service.“

“Enjoyed many an evening at The Bull. A lovely brewpub located in leafy (and hilly) Highgate. While technically a brewpub, the brewing kit is tiny and neatly tucked away in the restaurant kitchen! Speaking of which, the food is the drawcard here...lovely dishes, especially the spicy pulled pork. The house brews are rough around the edges, but drinkable nonetheless. Definitely recommend the trek to North London.“

“A stylish but cosy and welcoming pub, home to the London Brewing Company. The Bull is just north of Highgate village and a handy hop on the number 214 bus from the Southampton Arms, down the hill in Gospel Oak. It’s home to the London Brewing Company, a welcome new addition to the London beer scene, operating as a two and a half barrel brewpub with the kit in the kitchen. It was very quiet when we visited on a Wednesday evening early in December to celebrate Mes’s birthday but we found a large table upstairs and made our own party. The upstairs room is light, airy and elegant with pot palms and jazz music adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The windows overlook a patio at the front which was adorned with pretty fairy lights. There were six cask beers, including a guest cider and a guest perry, and nine keg beers alongside a good range of bottles. The food menu has a distinctly American twist (e.g. pulled pork) and is to be recommended. The staff were very friendly. (Visited 7 December 2011).“

“New brew pub on site of former restaurant in Highgate, a short walk from the Village. Visited for the first time on Saturday 10th September 2011. Comfortable and welcoming, subdued lighting and at the time of my visit, soft background music at a comfortable level. There are more rooms upstairs with one of them available for hire. Currently there are eighteen taps of which 6 are handpulls. Two of these dispense the pub’s own brews - recommend London Beer Street. Dark Star features amongst the guests. Beers very well-kept. An interesting food menu is offered which is slightly US-leaning with pulled-pork and sliders part of the fare. I enjoyed the vegetarian option of mushroom pie with fresh fennel and salad. Visitors will be impressed with the very reasonable beer prices - for example Beer Street was £2.80, others are around £3.10/3.20 still representing very good value for the area. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, rubbing off rather nicely on service. Let’s not end without mentioning the bottle range which is currently 30 odd, and interesting as well - see for yourselves! A welcome addition to Highgate’s pubs. Do visit!“
