“We were here a number of years ago and found the location to be very nice. We were there mid-afternoon, and they were fairly busy. We ordered beer and food, and the service was great as was the beer. We asked them if they were going to get bigger and they said they liked being small and doing good beer.“

“Large taproom with beautiful spacious deck overlooking the Columbia River. Industrial, clean and new with lots of wood. Nice fire pits and plenty of seating outside. Interior is a bit smaller and somehow less appealing. 17 taps with various styles and good overall quality. Worth checking out, although for me it lacks bit of a homey atmosphere.“

“Medium sized taproom, patio with fire pit outside. Nice interior, industrial, but a bit cozy as well. 22 beers on tap with various styles and at least very good quality. Good food and attentive service. Well worth checking out.“

“Stopped in 9/11/23. Upstairs tap room has a nice view. Several beers on tap. Flight of six. All good. Nice touch that they had some very old vintage on tap (Old Boardhead Barleywine from 1998 or 2002 (tap list differed from chalkboard)). Flight of six available in a cool three tier boat shaped flight. Service good. Definitely got old school vibes, but given it's near other breweries it's worth a stop.“

“Fuck this place. The beer is actually really good but it's downhill from there. Nice place overall. Bartender in the main bar was pretentious. No ability to sit of you're not getting food so you're shuffled to the side. Had to go to the "Bear's Den" where you can get your beer to sit outside on benches. Took about 10 minutes to get a server in the Bear's Den. While I eventually got a flight of six good beers, it was a slog getting there and I felt denigrated. So.... maybe worth a stop but come hungry or you're a second class person. If you're just getting a flight you're not welcome here.“

“Stopped by early on a Monday. Not too crowded. Upstairs tasting room. Saw an elevator so it's probably ADA compliant. Open and bright and comfortable outside and inside. Seemed like new construction, but well done. Staff friendly and helpful. Beer was all solid. Menu looked good but didn't try. Located near a few other breweries. Recommended.“

“Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, about 5 years ago and had pizza and beer. Nice clean spacious place, though not many people there. Waitress was very friendly and informative. Food was good and so was the beer.“

“Stopped in for a beer after already hitting other spots and distillery so little tipsy. Big outdoor patio type spot. Had a fermented pickle and kimchi snack that was quite good but spicy. Huge building and spot.“

“They were having an employee event so only a quick stop. Cool space and decor. Awesome area of town. Great selection in variety of styles. Dig the vibe and employees and customers were all chill. Beers quite good. Recommend for sure.“

“Haven't been for a while, but when I was there it was very busy as we had to wait 45 minutes to get a place to sit; I remember ordering a flight, but don't remember what the beers were. We ordered some snacks because they were so busy and we wanted to get going just because of the wait time. What we had was good, I don't remember it being anything special though.“

“Located on the main drag of Hood River, this little place can fill in a lot of gaps not providedd by the other breweries in town. 32 taps of regional craft, including a lot of really small breweries. Great service and you can order pints if you'd like, but they offer 25ox crowlers to go. worth a visit.“

“Visited February 2020. We stopped in for dinner and beers on the way back to Portland after heading out along the gorge for some wine tasting. Of course, it was pouring rain, but we were able to find a parking spot pretty easily so didn't get too soaked. This place is huge. Holy smokes. There is a large restaurant space as well as more seating upstairs, plus a tasting room/bar and plenty of bottles and cans on offer. We grabbed some ticks in the tasting room area while we waited for the table. As expected, beer quality was pretty high, though there were a couple misses. Food is I guess plussed up pub-style food and was quite good. We tried a pretty wide variety of things on the menu between the four of us and everyone was pleased with their selection. Can definitely recommend the fries, sausage entrée, and macaroni and cheese. Prices are pretty good, especially on beers, but food as well. It's definitely a bit of a trek out from the city, but you will not be disappointed.“

“Great beer bar in Hood River, just up the street from Double Mountain. Lots of beer on tap, available in flights. Tons of great local Oregon and Washington beers to be had here. Friendly service. Dive-bar atmosphere, with friendly clients. Definitely worth a stop if walking around the area.“

“Large place with good pizza and great service. Lots of beers on tap, available in flights. They had a few extra seats in the parking lot across the street during COVID times. Service was great here. Pizza was pretty good too. Beers were just OK -- probably the least interesting among the Hood River brewery options, but this place is still worth a stop.“

“Cool place that really surprised me on quality. I'd had a couple of their beers before coming here and wasn't really ever impressed. But this place is definitely worth visiting. Their beer is decent, but where they really shine is their aged barrel offerings from their cellar. When I was in, they had a 25-year old barley wine and a similarly aged stout. Crazy. All available in 4oz pours. I sat outside on the deck with a great view of the river. Great service as well.“

“This place is a little ridiculous. They have one guy on the cash computer taking orders, with a lineup so long that it's like a 30-minute wait to get a beer. Also, since they don't do flights or anything, good luck going there and trying more than one or two beers. They seriously need to develop some sort of working system here. Even just from a business perspective. I would have ordered twice the amount of beer if I hadn't waited for half an hour. The place itself is very pretty, an upstairs open informal seating vibe. They had food but I didn't try. Beer was OK, I only had a couple of stouts. I can see this being a great place if they sort their problems out, but seriously...“

“Great brewery with very little space for seating. Especially with reduced capacity under COVID. There was a huge wait here. But you can get flights outside in a little standing area with limited seating. Flights also available inside. Beer is pretty good here. Food was extremely good. Service good, and nice airy place. Nice views of Hood River.“

“Massive place very near Pfriem. Lots of outside space, big wooden treehouse feel. Great food, the beers lean toward clean lower alcohol but with loads of bigger beers as well. Great service, a bit busy but the damn COVID stuff slows everything down. Great location. Certainly a must visit in Hood River.“

“Located in a rather grand imposing development overlooking the windsurfers messing about on the Columbia River this impressive block just outside downtown Hood River incorporates a number of indie businesses including Ferment Brewery, a coffee roasters, a gelato producer and pizza restaurant. Ferment happened to be closed for a private party (!) on our visit so we went over to pFriem, which seemed to be taking all the custom. Good range of styles, some Belgian-stye sours, a few barrel-aged options.. I went for a barrel-aged saison which was fine but lacked a nice crisp complexity, and a hazy IPA which again was ok. Very smart looking place, food looked great.“

“Small cider-focussed bar with around 20 lines, including a few beers (Delirium Tremens!). Like all cider bars we visited on this trip selection seemed weighted towards fruit-infused drinks masquerading as cider, but we managed to get a flight of three pure apple ciders together, including two made by Crush themselves, and grabbed a seat out front. The front seating area seems to take up a parking space, but is surrounded by some young apple trees which I thought was a nice touch. Ciders were decent, staff helpful. Some interesting looking 'real' ciders in a fridge, including some Canadian but no price list (staff have to look these up on the till) and those we did get prices for were out of our budget. Nice place but limited draft options for the tannic-minded real cider drinker.“

“Good bottle shop South of town with a well-curated bottle selection that has little in the way of fillers. Has a nice relaxed feel about the place, some sofas, dog friendly. Couldn't drink so didn't take much notice of the draft selection but there seemed to be around 8-10 lines. Some large bottle fridges with a big emphasis on sours, less NEIPA than I expected, certainly compared to UK bottle shops. Some choice EU offerings. A few ciders. Definitely worth a look if in the area.“

“Wow. This is a standout in an area with great breweries. The food was exceptional. I had the falafel bowl, which was full of fermented vegetables. My bro had the bacon burger. I tried two different pilsners and the dry stout. The stout was fine, but the pilsners were great. The service was outstanding. The atmosphere was of a familiar brewery style but with a modern and wooden twist. Hard to pin down but it's done quite well. I'll be visiting and trying more food and brew here throughout the summer.“

“Across the street from Full Sail. Probably the smallest brewery in Hood River, still pretty spacious though. About 20 beers on tap with a nice variety of styles. Had a decent sandwich here that was huge and filling. The service was fine and attentive. Another nice place in Hood River for a beer.“

“Right down the Street from Ferment right on the Columbia. Fermentation tanks almost come out to the seating area making you feel right in the brewing process. There is a nice outdoor seating area with a fire pit when it gets a bit chilly out. About 15 beers on tap for $6 a pint. Decent selection and the food looked good but I did not have any here. Just another massive brewery in Hood River. I don't know how all of these places can stay in business so close to each other but when I was here, they were all hoping busy.“

“Massive wooden structure about 50 yards from the Columbia. Seating area is on the 2nd floor which is nice b/c you can look right down on the Columbia and the wind surfers doing their thing. About 20 beers on tap for 6 a pour and they do make quite a variety of styles. IPA's to Belgian's to lagers. It's not often you find a place with a saison and biere de garde on tap at the same time. Food is served but i did not have any here. It looked good though. Service was fine but a bit laid back. One of the many places to hit on a day in Hood River.“

“Huge brewery taking up several blocks. Small tasting room for such a large space but the turn over is pretty quick. About 15 beers on tap. All of the session line plus a few IPA's and quite a few amber ales. Staff was friendly asking where I was from and where I'll be going. This is the OG place for beer in Hood River and is worthy of a stop.“

“Worthwhile trip out from Portland to Hood River just got a lot more likely. Ferment isn't mind blowing or perfect or polished, but it wins on style and direction and puts out good quality that could be a draw outside of "the place next to pFriem" if it explores its uniqueness and refines it's menu and beer offerings. Adding a little more effort to presentation would help. Getting the fermented green salsa and kimchi up will be great. Maybe adding dough and bread could be the right kind of Bar Tartine edge?“

“Stopped here Sunday for lunch. Really solid basic beers and some excellent stouts and sours which I've never seen anywhere but the brewpub. Additionally, you're drinking and eating outdoors in front of beautiful scenery while a fire is warming you up. And the food is superb. Extremely high recommendation. Service is a bit slow and the wait is long but that's because this place is great.“

“We were trying to have a dinner at the Pfriem but it was unfortunately full with a 45 minute wait. So we decided to try our luck here. We were directed to the deck as we were with small children. I can't say the staff was really friendly but we got food and beer. The view from the deck was really nice. The kids loved the freight trains going by. The food was tasty. The beers varied quite a lot. Their regular beers were quite mediocre but the Bourbon barrel aged ones were excellent. They serve a flight of 6 beers. Altogether they had 20 beers on tap. “

“Near the water in a high end industrial type park. Long lines and lots of people have this place hopping. Unfortunately service was some of the worst I have experienced. 8 bar stools, we were on 2 and we couldn’t have been more ignored. Drinks, information and food were hard to come by. I have never felt so poorly at a craft brewery. Food was ’fancy’ and pricey but not worth the money. I will not recommend this place. UPDATE - Later that night we met the bartender at another bar and he gave us a bottle of the RIS for fun and free. Nice gesture, but much too late.“
