60 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 3 beers on my visit. One beer had diacetyl, one clean yet very bland and a pretty good malty pilsner. We had a spicy schnitzel. Cave like feel. Very friendly service. The place to stop out of the 2 in town. |
30 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 16 A large sports - hall where they brew beers. 3 beers avaliable on my visit. All filled with massive amounts of dms. Could probably Seat a few hundred people but we were the only visitors on a thursday Night. Right in front of Kieler Brauhaus but I couldnt drink the beer in here. |
72 /100 Brewcomer (Beer Store) STIFTSTRAßE 1 Onlineshop mit Schwerpunkt auf Norddeutsche Brauereien. |
18 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 16 A combined Brauhaus and sports bar right next to Kieler Brauhaus . A modern building, with cosy booth type seating downstairs and upstairs its quite large and spacious, they are a couple of "blue" pool tables and dart boards plus a few TV's to watch sports on (if that’s your thing?). The upper area can be reached via a staircase or elevator. I can imagine it gets quite noisy at peak periods. They have five of their own beers available usually and you can get them all in a flight, they are nothing to rave about, ranging from average to poor! The food menu is typical European fare and quite passable. The staff are not very attentive. |
52 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Typical German brewpub, not a very wide selection, mostly classic German styles. Central location and worth dropping by if one happens to be in the neighbourhood. |
74 /100 Brewcomer (Beer Store) STIFTSTRAßE 1 Solid nice selection of german beer
Also a lot of solid stuff from other countries
Absolutely recommendable
|
72 /100 Brewcomer (Beer Store) STIFTSTRAßE 1 Small beer store with a good selection of local craft beers and some from other parts of Germany as well. They also have a reasonable selection from abroad. Since they have an up to date website I was able to browse the beers from home in order to save time, so I just picked up my box at the store. Enthusiastic service. |
60 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Traditional brauhaus right in the middle of the altstadt in Kiel. They had three of their own beer on at my visit. Pils, kellerbier and a seasonal rauchbier. All were about average for their styles. We had already eaten at Tom Kyle across the square, so we did not try the food, but it was traditional brauhaus dishes and it looked and nice. |
64 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 16 This is a combined brauhaus and sports bar right next to Kieler Brauhaus. They had the usual pils and dunkel and a seasonal beer as well. That was a pils as well, so not the most adventurous of brewpubs. All were pretty average, but not bad by any means. The food was good, although their menu lacked the Wiener Schnitzel, we were looking forward to. Good service. |
62 /100 Edeka (Grocery Store) SOPHIENBLATT 20 Grocery store with a decent bottle selection
Not far from the ferry terminal or the railway station
|
68 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Visited with my wife on 30th Oct 2018, lunchtime. Brewery shop across the pavement, benches outside the brewery entrance, which is a cave like, dungeon opening before you actually get inside. Nicely done decor, touristy, but also functional with the space well utilized. We liked the easy atmosphere and vibe the place gave off. Three of their beers on tap and some Flensburger options too. Pleasant lady served us, beers were good if a little 'uninteresting', the huge Currywurst mit Pommes a delight. Large area at the rear caged off for functions and busier times. The only bar we actually used while in Kiel for two days and nights. |
86 /100 Brewcomer (Beer Store) STIFTSTRAßE 1 IN LOVE :) |
72 /100 Brewcomer (Beer Store) STIFTSTRAßE 1 Solid online shop with a focus on German craft beer including some locals and relatively unknown breweries as well as international beers. Shipping is fast, packaging is solid, communication is very good. Prices are average by German standards. Recommended. |
50 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 The Kieler Brauerrrei is located downtown Kiel. It is an old style brewpub with old style beer. At the visit, only the Kieler Bier (Zwickl/Kellerbeer) was available. Food is simple, but tasty. Walk in for a beer or some food. |
62 /100 Edeka (Grocery Store) SOPHIENBLATT 20 Large supermarket in the Sophienhof shopping mall, near the railway station, and a fairly short walk from the ferries to Oslo and Göteborg. The selection of beers (mostly German) is more than decent, and the prices are reasonable. |
60 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Located just in the center of the city, pretty typical design for local brewpubs and pubs for tourists. Same about beers they serve, classic, boring German styles with very light body and similar taste. The staff is very nice, helpful and speak good English. Food is basic but solid and very tasty - fried herring was absolutely amazing!!! Nothing special but being next time in the city will step in again. |
58 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Got a brewpub feel but more like a German theme pub you’d find in a different country. Loads of cheesy loud music, a monk wandering around plying folk with strong spirits. Didn’t eat here as the food looked somewhat uninspiring but wish we had as Kiel only offers dodgy burgers and kebabs after 10pm....service was good and the beer was in good order. Probably the worst German brewpub I’ve done but it was better than anywhere else in Kiel! |
58 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Interior a bit tatty and touristy. The only brewery in town. Tried all beer made in house the Keller beer was best but all were pretty boring- typical German beer -lacking in body taste and hops. Food was also solid but average.
Once was more than enough. |
90 /100 Martins Weindepot (Beer Store) HOLTENAUER STRASSE 126 Best selection in town. Nice mix of domestic and international beers. Some beer are refrigerated, but most are not. The only place I found in Kiel for such beer. |
60 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Visited on a Thursday afternoon in July 2015. Modern exterior leads into a traditional beer Keller, plenty of seating. 80s one hit wonders on the juke box made for a pleasant ambiance, service was ok. 3 beers on tap which were ok. Worth a look for the ticks and a handy place really in a Bunder where brewpubs are scarce. |
50 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Typical German brewpub. 3 nice taps. |
100 /100 Brewcomer (Beer Store) STIFTSTRAßE 1 The first real Craft beer store in Kiel. |
60 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 If the Germans had invented the brewpub, this would be a German brewpub? I don’t know. A fun place in Kiel, with all the German trimmings. Not a hell of a lot of beers on offer, but they are made in-house, and that sure is a draw in any German town (German beer is solid but boring). Good food, good ambiance, enough to make a long "cruise" from Oslo worth while. |
68 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 An excellent brewery and I recommend their Maibock, the Dunkel and the "Kielerbier" (a kellerbier!) All 3 were of a high standard. Food a bit basic but filled a gap. A must if in this part of Germany. |
66 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Located at the heart of what can reasonably be called the Old Town in Kiel, the big brewpub seems to draw crowds of all ages and from all walks of life (well, I visited the place on a busy Saturday evening, so that might be one of the reasons.) Not exactly beautiful but still cozy, with copper brown walls and (vaulted) ceilings, it creates an atmosphere of a stylish but pseudo-oldie place to hang out. The staff are busy but friendly, although not all seem to know enough about the locally brewed beer, which is acceptable, if not extraordinary. Other than the local produce only a few basic German beers are to be had but that is acceptable in a brewpub, I think. The food is decent, too. Not pricey, not poshy, just a little to noisy but that is OK on a Saturday night :-) Will be back one day for sure. |
62 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 NIce typical cosy german bewpub in citycenter. 3 taps of own beer. 6 bottles nothing interesting. NIce service. Had very good bratwurst mit saurkraut, very nice with the pilsner. I could be back. |
42 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Limited selection, but brew their own Beer.
Atmosphere is ok, but very touristy. |
46 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 The selection is not of the greatest, but more understandable because they brew their own beer. The athmosphere is ok, a bit touristic. |
60 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Visited september 2009, just before running the Berlin Marathon :-). Nice cosy brewpub, placed in the citycenter. Easy to get to and parking is within walking distance. Friendly staff, the beers were well served in ok condition. |
54 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Nice brewpub in Kiel with their homemade beer. 2 available at the time Kieler bier & Kieler Pils- for the moment they were out of their seasonal choice.
Nice outdoor seating. Had some very good flammenkuchen. They also make their own licquer- decent.
We really enjoyed ourselves for a couple of hours and also brought 2 bottlers of Kielerbier home with us |
60 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Ideal location walking from where the cruise ships dock and the main train station. A fair amount on tap and a nice space for a snack or meal. |
62 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Neat place in downtown Kiel. They have about 5 beers on tap including one or two from outside breweries and a few bottled beers to choose from. I had a couple of their beers which were not bad at all. The service was good and servers were very friendly. A nice relaxing atmosphere. The meals served seem to be good German pub fare. The brewery is not fancy but just a nice place to stop by, relax, have a few pints of the local beers and something to eat. Good place to check out if your ever in Kiel. |
58 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 A dark cozy cave at the end of a walking street downtown Kiel. Really polite, quick and well English speaking staff that made the stay quite nice. Did not try the food, but It both looked and smelled quite good from where I was sitting. Downstairs you can see the brew kettles fermenting. The place was actually quite a big place, and I can imagine the noise level is quite high when the place is packed. They were unfortunately playing the CD "The best of summer 1999" on repeat when I was there which naturally drags the total score a bit down... Otherwise a must if you are in Kiel. |
70 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 A short visit in November 2009. A nice place and easy to find. Did not try the food but tried a Kieler bier, 20 cl Helles and 20 cl Schwarzbier. Ok and easy to drink, before I ran down to the harbour. I had to reach the ferry to Gøteborg! |
60 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Nice small brewpub close to the catedral in Kiel. Go down to the sellar, where they have windows so you can se the brewery, nice! Worth a visit. |
66 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Quick and friendly service, we only had 2 beers, pilsener which I did not fancy and a schwarzbier which I liked. Food consisted of some mixed fish roasted potatoties and a minimum of vedgetables. The best food I han on our tour. Atmosphere OK and relatively dark. Looked like a cave. |
58 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Classic brewpub atmosphere, built to be rustic, buit for tourists, I guess. We had two decent beers. The food was average, but served with an ice cold salad... Service was friendly and efficient, and we had a free tour of the brewery. |
82 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Great little brewery, well set up and easy to see all the open fermentation tanks and brewery at work. Prices were ok, we bought a 10L keg for 50 euro... the beer was amazing though so it was worth it. I only tried the keller beer and didnt eat, the atmosphere was amazing with singing and all that jazz. A must visit if in the area. |
52 /100 AM ALTEN MARKT 9 Cozy restaurant with typical german food. Friendly and efficient service. They have an outside seating as well, which is recommended if the weather allows it. You should of course go for their own beers. |
