“I'd previously visited the Whole Foods shop in Kensington and been hugely impressed. I was therefore very pleased to stumble across this other branch in a much more accessible place near Piccadilly. Sadly, it turned out to be a huge letdown after the Kensington one. It still has the same fresh and organic theme, but it's just so much smaller. The choice in every respect is so much more limited than Kensington - the beer section in particular was very small and had nothing interesting at all. It's also far too busy (not surprising in Piccadilly) and some of the aisles are a bit tight making it an unpleasant shopping experience (especially during Covid). The staff were unsurprisingly harassed, and brusque to the point of rudeness. If I'd come here before the Kensington one I might have thought it was ok (but expensive). However, my recommendation would be to avoid this one and go straight to the much better (albeit still pricey) Kensington branch.“

“Now relocated to 35b Panton Street SW1Y 4EA. The supermarket is downstairs, you have to enter through the upstairs shop and the stairs down are at the back. Interesting range of Japanese beers, some cheap, others not so. I picked up a Japanaese Altbier for £2.50 which was a surprise. I didn't look at the sake selection, not my thing.“

“Ground floor pub between Leicester Square and Haymarket. This is tourist central, so expect a very changeable crowd, but not a very changeable selection of beers as they basically only serve Shepherd Neame brews here. I stumbled upon a new lager from the brewery in here, but it was just their long time regular ales otherwise. The decor is comfortable enough.“

“Glasshouse Street was a non-descript street for the six years I worked in the area, today it's a vibrant pedestrianised area and this place seemed a popular place for the many that currently work in the area. The beer selection in this supermarket is decent enough with crafted brews available, although those who've spent a lot of time in London will probably see a lot what's on offer all the time!“

“Behind the light facade of Piccadilly Circus and accessed by a moving set of escalator stairs, the shop itself on the first floor has all manor of oriental hardware and foodstuffs in a well presented enough manor. Prices are pretty high but this is tourist central. A range of saké takeaways are available in one section, but as I am not that familiar with this style it's hard to say they are rare or common. The Japanese beers available were certainly common.“

“Visited 11.01.19. Five ales on cask, all served without sparkler. Good serveice. A small bar, with limited seating and mostly bar stools. Also a restaurant upstairs.“

“It's a crowded grocery store in Piccadilly, typical Whole Foods vibe with a small craft beer selection, more so on the shelf than in the cooler. They have a few ciders available too.“

“A nice traditional English pub, wooden panel throughout. There is standing room at the bar, seats along the wall, and some tables. The smokers congregated in front the entrance. There were several draught selections and a few bottles. Friendly and attentive service.“

“Very nice small japaneese supermarket opstairs just NeXT to Piccadilly Circus. Very nice service. Fantastic selection of Sake. I didnt Count but more than 100 I would think. Also 10-15 japaneese beers, most of them the ususal suspect but I found Kirin Stout (can) which I havent seen before.“

“This is a tiny pub / free house just around the corner from The Lyric within the theatre area of town. There is a single bar, cosy but friendly with helpful bar staff. Local brewers to the fore in here, possibly a good list for the visitor, also some bottled beer choices. Well worth a visit.“

“Visited on 17th January 2017. Supermarket an escalator ride away from Shaftesbury Avenue. Not much in the way of ambience really but we’ll laid out. A decent range of Sake is available. Have daily free tastings advertised from 2 to 7pm but not sure what of! Prices looked ok. Service swift. Definitely one for style completists“

“This place has one major benefit - the best selection of beers in the area. Otherise it’s an over priced supermarket. A lot of quinoa and suspect they stock birch sap water, although the bakery items are pretty good if you don’t mind them having been breathed all over. Brought a couple of mates here to pick it up some beer. One summed the shop up: "So this is where all the wxnkers shop, no wonder you like it."“

“Large foody market that for me lacks a centre. That is it doesn’t really know what it wants to be. If you want a 2015 balanced diet - well it’s all here - sugar and salt. You can choose from 100s of different packs of crisps but good blinking luck finding a sandwich. Anyways the beer selection is definitely of interest. On my first visit I picked up 2 Kernels and a Partizan. Also some aged and overpriced Gouda. Service was friendly even if the queuing lines were abysmally marked out. Some punters were doing the limbo over the stupid lane markers which were leading them to a complete dead end. Anyway despite the frustrations if you are in the area visiting the Lyric or the Old Coffee House, worth a look.“

“It’s a Whole Foods in London, small beer section in 3 parts: Refrigerated, Domestic Bottles & import bottles. Nothing all that special but fine to pop in if near Picadilly. Bonus: drink in table near the beers.“

“Warehouse near Piccadilly Underground. Small selection mainly base on American and Belgian standards. I was disappointed by the lack of London beers, the only thing they had was 3 beers from the Kernel, 1 from Londn fields and a few cans from Beavertown. Positive point is prices are really good for London. They also sell a lot of food, for take-aways. This is certainly a decent place when you want to do more than beershopping, but it’s not a place to look out for when you want a lot of London craft brews.“

“Nice modern place just off Piccadilly Circus. Wandering round and came across a reasonable range of beers, had some German Christmas offerings plus Rogue and other Belgian and UK brews. Visited between Christmas and New Year, place was wedged, service fast but glad to escape. Might be nice at quieter times“

“The Japan Centre has been recently re-located to this new Shaftesbury Av. location on the second floor of the building. As you might guess this is sort of grocery store with a whole host of Japanese produce. Thankfully this includes a large array of sake, plus a few beers. I have not tackled any of the sake yet, but plan to. The beers are located in the fridge and seem to rotate fairly regularly, although there are only about 10 in total. These include typical things like Sapporo/Asahi, but also Hitachino and more obscure stuff like OWA beer & Kurohime Musashino beer. Prices are pretty steep unfortunately. There is a small seating area so you can even drink in if you want to! A worthy central London destination for sake if nothing else.“

“I’ve visited three times in the 10 months and to be honest twice there was barely any selection outside of Duvel and a small selection of German/Belgium beers (of no great rarity). However during the World Cup, the selection improved immensely and craft beers from all across the world (US, Canada, Australia and Latin America) appeared. So its hit and miss but when its hits, it knocks it for 6. Queues can be monsterous so its not a quick shop! Even post 7pm.“

“Whilst not as big or having the same beer range as the High Street Kensington shop, this is still a good fall back and one of the few places in central London where you can by The Kernel beers. Ground floor has a section which includes Chimay, The Kernel, Sam Smiths, Brewdog, Redchurch, Stroud, St Peters, Rochefort, HOBO, Brewers Union, Brooklyn etc.“

“As with every Whole Foods, there is a small but well curated selection of beers available here. The highlight, for me, would be The Kernel, though there are plenty of other interesting UK offerings in addition to more standard stuff from Belgium and the USA. Prices are quite good. The beers tend to be well kept, many refrigerated. As a Whole Foods this joint also has wonderful food stuffs. Probably the best option in the area for buying beer for takeaway.“

“Actually not that bad. It’s a tiny affair so expect a cosy session. They tend to have a small representation of London breweries here, either on tap or in bottle. Good service. The prices are a touch premium but, given the location, you take what you can get.“

“Used to work on the adjacent road to this restaurant which serves very good meals having ate here a couple of times Its location in the narrow Swallow Street opposite the old Swallow Street bar has been improved in the past few years with the pedestrianisation of the road which now allows for an outdoor patio for this venue. The reason beer seekers may want to eat here is the couple of rare ale options available to compliment the food including one imported from Ireland.“

“I’m surprised I haven’t visited here before, but then again I assume most pubs in central London are tied. Queen’s head is very centrally located indeed, right at Piccadilly circus. It is a very small (read cosy) traditional freehouse. They had about 5 casks on offer which as well as few common things included some smaller London breweries. They have also very recently given up one of their keg lines to Moncada for the time being. Their Red on Keg was rather impressive. In addition to tap they have a few London micros represented in bottle... namely Partizan and Redchurch. Staff were friendly and were asking for opinions on what was on tap and what they should have in the future. Definitely a cut-above the usual London boozer.“

“Decent little Whole Foods located right at Piccadilly Circus. The beer selection has been improving continually since it opened. They have a nice selection of Belgian, US and UK beers on shelves and in fridges. They just recently starting stocking a few Kernel bottles and canned BrewDog Dead Pony Club. I can’t say that it’s cheap, but what else would you expect in this location. I wouldn’t go out my way to visit this place, but it is a great central location for picking up a few chilled beers to drink in the park!“

“Great little pub just down the road from Piccadilly Circus. Very small and cosy. Bartender was friendly and comforting and was there anytime I had a question. Solid beer choices without being amazing. Had some Dark Star which was cool. Just a very homely pub. Nice place“

“Amazing little traditional pub hidden away from the madness of Piccadilly Circus. The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the beers they are serving. Pie and mash was fantastic! The Queen’s Head are obviously focusing on their real ales. Their selection is superb and all tasted incredible. I can’t recommend it highly enough!“

“A nice little pub close to Piccadilly Circus. A free-of-tie venue with a cask ale range worth searching for. Redemption, Moncada and other breweries in or nearby London. Uninteresting draught beers, although Brooklyn Lager isn’t a bad beer. Friendly service and we enjoyed a good lunch. (Visited February 15 th 2013)“

“A pretty standard little pub. Nothing too special to draw you in, save for a few Shep ticks. I found a few non-standard Shep beers on my visit, which was nice. Pints are a little shy of £4, so you aren’t really getting great value here. I stopped by because this place is literally right across the street from and Odeon cinema, so I killed some time in the pub after buying the tickets and while waiting for my companion to arrive. A convenience stop at best - certainly not a destination.“
