72 /100 La Maison Russe (Grocery Store) 68 QUAI MAYAUD By chance, I found this small russian shop wandering along the streets at Saumur, next to the Loire. I found 11 new beers ; I already tasted their polish beer Zywiec at Jenlain during a festival. Otherwise, 1 beer from Bielorussia, 1 from Ukrainina, 2 from Czech Republic and 7 beers from Russia. Impossible to find in common beerstore nearby !! And the owner has ciders too. Friendly nice service. Ok price (2.5-3€ for France). You will find also russian food or art if you are interested. Apparently, you can also order beers online. |
68 /100 495 ROUTE DE MONTSOREAU Just after visiting the beautiful Fontevraud Abbey. I knew the name of the brewery for several years but curiously the old-fashioned TINA logo was not really appealing. Moreover, the fact that I couldn’t find these beers in Poitiers or nearby didn’t help. The atmosphere around this brewery was very summer-like. A park just behind, large parking. I had a nice chat with the brewer. 13 bottles, I think and 2 beers on tap. Ok price. I know that you can visit the brewery on Saturday but I didn’t have the chance to do it. |
64 /100 Saveurs de Mamilis (Grocery Store) 43 RUE ST JEAN Discovered during a small walk in Saumur after visiting the beautiful Fontevrault Abbey. A small shop with "produits du terroir", regional specialities. I found in this small shop about 20 beers (local and regional beers) (Brewery TINA from Saumur, Brasserie Angevine and a collab between local brewers from "Pays de la Loire". Friendly. Ok price. |
