“Mostly a butcher shop - and the meat selection and quality are great. They also have a small selection of beer (and wine), including Kernel and some other locals. Good place to stop if on Broadway Market.“

“Corner unit on Broadway and pretty much in the middle of the busy commercial street. It's quite a small venue inside, with limited table space, quite a few people were sat at the bar on my Sunday afternoon visit, but as the keg options are located at one end they were pretty easy to access, and had a local selection of ales all new to an out of town visitor like myself.“

“Traditional styled pub offering up a fair selection of keg and bottled beer from the Low Countries, although if you're already familiar with the most popular offerings from these countries you might find this place a little disappointing in these choices. There's cask ales here though from the UK so it's not an entirely niche. Wooden interior, there's not a lot of natural light in here, but it's very cosy all the same.“

“Large twin floored older style pub given a modern makeover, but still retaining lots traditional charm. It's something of a food pub but the drinking is still decent with a focus on keg ales over cask, but the latter exist here and there should be something from a local micro. There certainly will be on keg. Beautiful people clientele.“

“Nice pub with an traditional interior and a good selection of Belgian beers. The barkeeper might have had a really bad day and it was somewhat crowded, but based on his reaction and behaviour when I asked him for a suggestion I am not likely going in there again.“

“Looks like an old pub from the outside, but it's certainly a food place once on the inside, but it's quite funky with a relaxed set-up, has a mix of large and small tables to dine at in an informal space. There's a few taps behind the counter which is on the left after you enter from the main street, but those worth ordering are very well known local stuff from breweries such as Camden which you'll probably see time and time again around the capital.“

“In the middle of the vibrant Broadway market, it's an off-licence with possibly a couple of bottles of interest, perhaps more so if you're a visitor to the area than a local. I noticed a few ciders here too.“

“More a cocktail bar than a pub but not too trendy! Only went in as I did not recognise the logos on 4 keg taps... turned out 3 were Deviant & Dandy brewery! Staff advise cuckoo brewed at Enefeld in Enfield by the owner. The 4th was 40Ft Larger. A few doors up and across from the excellent Dove pub.“

“Six good real ales on offer plus several excellent Belgian brews on tap and bottle. The Estivale from La Rulles on tap was very good at a very reasonable price. Can get very busy. Food good quality and not as expensive as it could be in this trendy area.“

“A pretty decent local wine and beer shop. The beer selection is strong in terms of London breweries, with staples such as The Kernel, Partizan, Beavertown, Camden, Weird Beard and Five Point all available. The prices are very good. The beers are all neatly laid out in the back room of the shop.

Overall, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this place, but if you live nearby then it would make for an ideal local option for picking up beers.“

“Busy pub next to a busy market. Nice dark interior with nooks and crannies. Tim Taylor and Brewers Gold tend to be on cask a lot, and I thought the condition seemed good on every occasion I’ve been here. Nice classic old pub.“

“Visited on Saturday 24/05/14 whilst visiting Broadway Market. Small general purpose offie/food store with a dozen or more local micro bottles from the likes of London Fields and Hackney, the latter who arent that widely distributed and i picked up a few ticks from. One or two interesting foreign ticks could also be acquired here if Thats your bag. Service friendly enough. As Leighton says, never a venue to go out of your way for but ill certainly stick my head through the door again next time i visit Broadway Market.“

“A pretty basic off-licence. The only reason I stop by here is because they have a mildly interesting selection of beers, including some local stuff like London Fields and Hackney. They also have some random country ticks and rare Shepherd Neame beers. Good value. The boys running the shop always seem keen to make the sale. Only worth stopping by if you are near; but it is convenient if you are cruising down Broadway Market.“

“Very going on a Tuesday night. Just popped in for one since it was on my way after getting the bright idea to walk home from Cock Tavern. Very nice service from a young bloke, fairly knowledgeable too. Told me they specialized in Belgian stuff while I was looking for local. They did have East London Brewing’s bitter on cask though so nice enough. A bit pricey.“

“Sister bar of the Dovetail located on the achingly hip Broadway Market. Nice, cheery ambiance. The place was heaving on my Saturday afternoon visit. Despite this, the service was friendly, attentive. The selection’s large, but not particularly interesting. Mostly your run of the mill Belgian options. Still, they sell Orval, so how bad can this place be? There’s also some random stuff on cask. The food was pretty cheap, but not especially tasty. Prices were decent, fair. Overall, this is a solid option if you’re in a fix for some Belgian beer. Otherwise, there’s better places within walking distance. “

“An OK spot on Broadway Market. They’ve got a few decent beers on keg and in bottle, with a light emphasis on local breweries - Camden, Meantime, London Fields. They also have some Harviestoun. Good looking food menu (I didn’t eat on my visit). Nice place, pleasant atmosphere. More of a food place with a few decent beers rather than a beer and food place, if you catch my drift.“

“Nice place. Mostly Belgian stuff on offer, though six casks keep it interesting. Average prices. Lots of tables on two floors of seating. Food looks good, although I wasn’t eating on my visit. Lively atmosphere on Saturday afternoon. As there are relatively few Belgian-focused beer bars in London, this place does fill a niche, and it does so reasonably well; however, while the Dove does have a respectable bottle list, don’t expect any ultra-rare Belgian beers - it’s mostly more common stuff. Worth a stop if you’re in the neighborhood.“

“A cold, snow covered London greeted me as I drew the curtains in my brothers flat late on this February Sunday morning in 2012: had we really drank that much last night? Anyway the plan had always been to walk through the park and visit The Dove for a lunchtime session: the four of us set off and half an hour later or so we entered the place. The bar has a good selection of Belgian beers on tap as well as hand pulls for cask UK ales: I had a Bruges Zot Blonde and a Delirium from the taps and later a pint of Brookman’s Winter Ale from Tring Brewery on cask. All were in fine order. The actual pub is on two levels, we dropped down into the back room and managed to find a table, which we shared with a couple of young ladies: the place was very full with more piling in by the minute. Once seated I had a good look through the beer menu and because I am a regular visitor to Belgium I found nothing to excite me, but don’t let that put you off coming here, they might have your favourite beer in the menu. Looking around and taking in the scenes I notice wood everywhere, under foot as well as the furniture and fittings. The whole inside is nicely done and feels homely, even down where we were, right at the back. Service was good, swift and polite, even though the place was busy. This is a popular eating place as well as a Belgian Beer Bar: we choose not to eat, my brother informing us the prices didn’t match the quality or quantity given. “

“Belgium beer bar in East london. Full of hipsters on the weekend. Selection is only belgiums in bottles so can get boring. But they have some good cask beers. Some interesting food like wild boar burger and etc.“

“Interior is funky and bar is situated on a superb shopping street. Belgian beers are the major attraction here: don’t expect to be blown away by the cask selection. This place is super for locals, but uninteresting for tourists in a quest for real ales.“

“A friend and I paid our maiden visit to this gem on 6th May. What a pleasant surprise and discovery! Visitors to the Dove will find a very pleasant, split-level, mainly wood panelled pub with the lower level dedicated to diners and the remainder of the pub open to non-diners. Pleasant, warm lighting afforded by tungsten, and no background music, but a live bass/piano jazz duo struck up some melodic numbers during our stay. The unisex toilets in the Dove are pleasantly furnished and illuminated by led and halogen. Attracts a mixed clientele spanning all age groups, socioeconomic classes and nationalities. Popular amongst local students, and others with an adventurous approach to drinking and dining. On the beer front there are six handpumps of which 5 were in use last night. The best real ales on by far were both Crouch Vale: Golden Duck (3.8%) – very refreshing session ale, light hoppy and moreish Brewer’s Gold (4.0%) – Crouch Vale’s flagship ale – good, but enjoyed Golden Duck more. Vast selection of Belgian bottle and draught beers, of which my friend and I adjoyurned to Brugse Zot bringing a spicy and fruity cadence to our session. A comprehensive and exciting food menu is offered, with regular specials, some imaginative starters (the crab and prawn tart was delicious) and some traditional Belgian specialities (fish waterzooi, for example). The “posh fish and chips” went down a treat. Prices for the food given its quality are not excessive, the most expensive mains being around £12-£13; beer, including real ales, is on the pricy side with the Crouch Vale beers being £3.20/pint. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Dove, and will return very soon. Meanwhile, I recommend it 100%. You may wish to know the pub offers private Belgian beer tasting sessions - check website for details. “
