“I read somewhere that this is an old Nabisco factory. Took a $15ish cab out here on a recommendation. I haven't done the subway thing yet & since moving out of NY I feel like I don't want to. Little boxed in wood patio, inside is a large open space. A cute Xmas tree in the corner, I was going to miss the holiday market they had going the next day. Big tables, lots of kids & a few dogs on a weeknight, less lawyer bros then downtown. Long metal bar off to the right, thick old wooden boards made into some impromptu book shelves above the taps. They have this one glass shelf in the middle that is bowing significantly. I couldn't stop staring at it. Big back hallway behind a very lockable door to get to the ample bathrooms. Board games stacked in another corner. One of the young bartenders was in charge of the lone tv in the corner & was a fan of old black & white movies, played it on mute. I appreciated that. The other bartender was very eager to keep my water glass filled & she may have known a little more about the brews had I asked. Beers were all solid to great but I couldn't find enough to try out of 13 or so taps. Good lager game, too many ipas. My only solid negs were no tasters, no half pours. Regurgitated to patrons I overheard constantly These are lazy rules, especially on slow days. I also just about ran the table & didn't get one buy back. Generic burger truck outside was good but the bread sucked. Anyway, nice place. I'm sure its easy to get here on the metro.“

“Walked up here from Churchkey because they were missing a little variety that night. Looks like a diner with a heated tent courtyard. Security to see your I.D. Small, pastel-colored but still uninviting cinder block seating area. $5-6 half pours in plastic wine cups were my default choice. A few too many stomach churning candy sours on tap. Every other beer I had wasn't good. At 9pm, the place still smells a little of the sweet coffee they serve in the AM & even though it was pleasant, it really threw me off. I didn't love the ambiance & I mostly disliked the beers, but the aloof bartenders were kind. Or maybe I just went a week in town without that one great beer & I was easily irritated. Shit, didn't even count as D.C. rates...“

“Second floor, steel stair walk-up. Long, dark wood, booths, fridges, tvs, poor lighting, a touch too loud when only half empty. Wafting kitchen scents of both deep fried fish & ugly sewer endtrails as you look closer to the bathroom. Bartenders are nice but very young on my visit. One knew more about the beers, the other might not have liked me. Both left my water glass empty for too long. No half pour option, only $4-5 4oz or $8-10 13oz. Good to great tap list of interesting locals & long distance but still a few too many ipas. The closest place I could walk to with any variety. For anything more, it's an Uber. There are better bars, but it really is all about location.“

“Smells like ketchup in here. Walking through & past the dark elevated train station, next to REI in a very pedestrian friendly area. Three sided bar. Far side is bigger & quieter. Too much seating really. Tanks by the door. Big shelf of board games by the door. Too much swag hanging from the ceiling. Ciders, beers, cocktails, all separate digital menus. Big walk-in groups looking to get whatever pleasure had alcohol in it. One of the staff was jokingly smashing his head against the wall in frustration. Big, burly, heavy bathroom doors were the one unique bit of architecture in the place. Beers were plentiful, okay to bad to pretty good, with several local ciders on tap. Tasters or full pours only. Hated that. Head the chicken strips were dope but the kitchen closes an hour before doors. Overall it wasn't top tier but worth the visit.“

“Visited here on a Sunday afternoon in late May '23. Industrial feel to the brewpub, lot of pipes and exposed metal. Has decidedly Northwest theme to their beers in name and styles. Have about a dozen or so on tap, the porter and red ale I had were spot on. Plenty of space on both sides of the bar with couches and comfy chairs as well as tables and seating outdoors. Have a kitchen as well, did not partake. Good crowd for a Sunday afternoon.“

“Visited here on an early Saturday evening in late May '23. Located on a busy stretch of a commercial and residential area of NW DC. From what I could tell, everything was outdoors. Share space with their coffee operation. Place was hopping, had to stand as all the tables were full. Solid selection of various styles, had a peanut butter chocolate stout which was pretty solid. Very young, hip crowd. Prices about on par for the area.“

“Visited here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in late May '23. Classic high brow restaurant a stone's throw from the White House that has been a DC staple since the 1850's. Visited here a few times about 25 years ago when I used to work in DC. Classic look and feel to the place, lots of brass and wood, servers dressed formally. Has a decent selection of local craft on draft and in bottles/cans. I enjoyed a DC Brau The Public Pale Ale. Huge menu, everything from sandwiches to seafood to steak to caviar. Prices are standard for the DC area (high) but well worth the experience. Excellent service.“

“Visited here in late May '23 on a Saturday afternoon. When I worked in DC about 25 years ago this was known as the Red River Grill and was my neighborhood hangout. Very sports bar-like atmosphere, lots of TVs, seating inside and out. Have about a dozen on tap, mostly local with a few labeled just for them. Full menu with sandwiches, wraps, wings, salads etc., - appear to have brunch as well. By no means a "beer bar", but a decent place to wet your whistle while hanging out in the Capitol Hill area.“

“Visited here on a Friday night in late May '23. Great location near the Navy Yard and Water front. Large patio area out front, nice high ceiling interior with lots of brass and glass and great views of the brewing operation. Have about 20 of their own on tap and a handful on cask. The ESB I had on cask was great as well as the Dunkel. Did not parake in the food - appear to be the standard sandwiches, burgers, salads etc. Lively crowd, prompt service. Great way to start an evening on the town.“

“Consistently not that busy, which makes it a draw for my daughter. Beer so so, shows signs of goodness, they hope it continues to improve. What I had was just that, average. Beautiful place, and a decent variety of beer. Did not try the food this time.“

“Great addition to the Crooked Run family of locations--this one much closer for me to get to. Open, airy place around the corner from Union Market in an up and coming trendy district. Has about 20 taps, available in full pours or in half pours. Lots of good beers on tap, and quality is good like in their other locations. Service friendly enough. A TV plays old movies. Big open window looking out to street. They have pizza and an interesting sandwich menu, but I had already eaten.“

“Visited on Monday, 6th March 2023 after the air and space museum, with Matthijs, sat outside on the terrace in the sun, as it was 8 degrees or so, and got stuck in to the IPAS. Dario and Mads also joined for lunch. The beers were all solid, and I tried 8 small pours, 6 IPAs and a coupe of Pilsners, great time and also a decent chicken burger“

“Went here on 4th March 2023, with Mads fresh of a flight from London and after enduring stupidly long immigration lines at Dulles, unacceptable at over 3 hours, making me late for our 7pm table booking here. The bar is really neat, nice atmosphere, although I called ahead to say we were running late, my table had been given away, however the GM was super helpful and set me up at the bar, and another table was sorted out within 20 minutes. They had a Monkish event, so I tried all the beers, which were very solid. Great burgers too and a good beer venue, to relax in a more formal environment to Churchkey, upstairs“

“Visited multiple times in March 2023, whilst over for Sales Kickoff with Boomi, the place is upstairs, nice long bar, neat printed menus for the beers, which are numerous. The selection was good with a mix of IPA, Stouts, Sours, the small pours are a good option but pretty pricey compared with the larger pours. Got to know the General Manager a bit, who was a really friendly and helpful chap. Food was also decent, best place in DC for beer that I went to.“

“We stopped in for Dinner after a afternoon of quickly walking around the DC Mall area to see the sights. I must of looked how I felt, hot and sweaty cause they put us as the 1st ones in the over flow area beyond the glass wall in the hotel lobby area. This is a area where the wait staff comes to gossip, cause little groups of them kept walking around corner of the glas and just a few feet from us started complaining about diff. people. Until the boss came by and they cleared out. It was at least 20 minutes before another group was put back there with us. I got a OK beer with my ok meal.“

“Very cool new brewery, and a great addition to the DC beer scene. These guys have great quality beer, and on a brief survey on one visit, I'd already place them among the best in DC alongside Right Proper and Bluejacket. Everything is done very well, and their stouts were very good. Lagers very pleasant as well. I love the literary theme, and the old roof in this old factory building makes for rustic charm. 4oz pours available, they had a food truck outside when I was here. Kid and dog friendly, and they have wifi. Definitely worth a visit. It's kind of halfway between Rhode Island and Noma metro stations. Great service.“

“Cool place on 14th street set up like a gas station in an empty lot by the looks of it. A bar in the corner and some food trucks. Walkable from Churchkey, and adds more needed craft beer injection on 14th street. A decent number of taps from Aslin and a Nighthawk. Beers available in half pours. Most centrally located of all the Aslin locations, so it's good for people visiting and such to hit compared to all the suburban locations. Beer was really good when I visited--hopefully this trend continues, as I had an old Aslin vibe to the taste that I haven't experienced in a while. Service is just the robot delivery through app vibe, hence the relatively low grade here. They also have some ciders and wine available.“

“Visited with a friend in July 2022. Located in a residential area, in a condo commercial complex, this place is modern yet cosy, funky, lots of communal tables and large bar. Gay theme. The beers were ok to decent, nothing special. Flights of 5 but didn't see the price as my friend took care of the bill. The food was great, had the Philly cheese steak which was excellent.“

“This review is for the Navy Yard location by Nats Park. We visited on a non-game day so parking was easy to find. On game day, it would have been a zoo. Nice outdoor area with additional seating inside. They use that open garage door ambiance that I love. Tons of helpful employees, 13 taps, all their own stuff. The 2 pints I had were good. They serve good pizza, they even gave us a few slices for free! Good place.“

“Very cool space in a very cool section of DC. Not sure me & my family were well dressed enough to go in but we did anyway. The place is absolutely huge, clean and modern. Service is done by ordering on your phone, but the beers come out quickly. Tons of their own taps, all different styles. Had a sampler, all the beers were good. The food was good too. This is a must visit in DC. I would love to come back.“

“A quick dive off the I-295 thoroughfare, nestled in the historic area right across from the Marine Barracks, this is a cozy little, brick-laden place, reasonably well laid out for its environs. I love their themes and really wanted to enjoy this place. I expected more military heraldry, but absent the monikers, this really doesn't have much of a vibe. It's just another little bar. The bartender was friendly and prompt. But unfortunately the beer lacked, more like a fledgling home brewer. The cost per pint didn't help either, but gotta figure, "Hey, it's DC." (Street parking was $2.75/hour, too). Brewery #957.“

“Large brewpub over a few stories, with lots of seating indoors and out. Beer selection pretty varied, with lots of lagers. Beer quality pretty good. Food excellent. Small pours available, and you can order as you many as you want at a time because it's done through a QR code, and they bring them pretty fast. An excellent spot to visit.“

Tap99 (Bar)

“So this is the place with self pour system of 99 taps. 75 of them are dedicated to beer, but out of those some were finished and there was a dozen of Kombuchas and Hard Seltzers. Also 5 ciders. Sour beers seem to be well represented with 15 brews and there are also some macros like Bud and Michelob. Rest of the selection leaves some interesting brews, but the Von Trapp beers I had were not in best condition. Seems that it's not even possible to sit inside these days, but there is a (very basic) patio outside. Sports screens are there, not bringing much to the ambiance. System is quite simple - you get a card and pour yourself whatever. Sounds like a heaven in theory, but leaves much to be desired.“

“Came here because I saw they had Maine Dinner on tap. Tap list is actually quite solid with some usual suspects like Delirium Tremens and Left Hand Milk Stout, but also locals like DC Brau and 3 Stars. Also 3 Floyds, Maine and Other Half. However it's one of those obnoxiously loud places with dozen of screens where everybody has to shout. And also full pours only, beer not kept well and kind but not the best service out there. Anyway I had my Dinner and fled the scene right away.“

“New brewery to DC in the Brookland neighborhood. Right off the MBT, so if you're a cyclist this is easy to hit. Nice size inside with tables and arcade games. Big, industrial patio that is covered too. Kids and dogs definitely welcome. 8 taps to start, good range of styles and middle of the road DC prices. The quality of the beer can improve some, but nothing was bad. Food trucks every day. Staff was extremely friendly. An easy walk from Right Proper Brookland makes this a welcome addition to the DC scene.“
