“Pretty big place, very busy too, just to the right and slightly uphill at the start of the Zoigl area. The main area was completely booked, so we found a table in the "hallwayish" area by the entrance. Good, busy service. The Zoigl came highly recommended, ended up being fairly soapy, though showing some promise, mild disappointment - shame that it's such a hit&miss apparently. Got convinced to try the meat loaf, and it was quite tasty and a solid portion for the price - got it with potato salad, which was well made - I mean, I hate it normally and I could finish this, so it's probably the best one of my life (not excessively mayo-forward). They seem to be proud to use only local ingredients etc., which is cool. Hope to experience it again in a better shape (was getting tired), I'm sure that the same experience with better beer in the main area could be far better.“

“As Gene noted, just off the Hauptstrasse - just turn left to Braugasse once you see it coming up from the direction of the station etc. Bigger Zoiglstube than most, it seemed, and the only one with its own brewery! Actually looks like it might be even nicer in warmer times, when they likely have a patio. It was entirely, ENTIRELY packed, and we were even made to switch tables once in the busy service's attempts to Tetris people somehow into all fitting. Ended up with some nice older people, which was cool. Wider food selection than some, and we went for the lemon cakes, which were quite tasty! Was considering to go for pretzel with something but it was just too busy. Their Zoigl was pretty tasty, on the maltier side than others, but well developed - had it in minimally better shape the day after elsewhere, but I reckon it's minimal in-batch variance. A must-visit all in all, if open, and you should probably go for food.“

“Visited February 2023 on a mild but windy Saturday. Bit far away from the main and popular venues difficult to find in a quiet neighbourhood. Rustic 70s / 80s interior. Nice staff, rustic crisp Zoigl for 2,50€ , excellent warm and homemade Brezen. Insider tip.“

“Visited April 2022. Biergarten / Wirtshaus located on a camping areal in the middle of nowhere about 5 minutes by car from Windischeschenbach. We sat outside and had a nice lunch and some Zoigl. Food is pretty simple and standard Wirtshausküche, but excellent! Beer is Zoigl hell and Zoigl Weizen from Wolframstubn, Windischeschenbach. Fair prices. Your place to go in this area when no places are open during the week plus they serve the original Zoigl every day and no need to pay attention to the Zoigl calendar.“

“Visited April 2022. Rather big Wirtshaus compared to the other ones in Neuhaus. More crowded, service busier, less friendly. Zoigl nice though, but this place misses the familiar and down to earth feeling, prices also bit more expensive. Not as good as the places in Neuhaus that were open on the same day.“

“Extremely busy, even in Covid-19 Times. Good food (the Schlachtschuessel was perfect!). Good beer, the brewer was sitting at the same table. We talked: he brewed zoigl for at least four stubes, like Weisser Schwan, Fiedlschneider and Loistl. Each to their own recipe. I just brew sugared wort and that’s it, he said. Then it is fernented and cellared in their own cellar, and he pointed at the place where the Zoigl of Fiedlschneider was lagered. Great place.“

“Its so funny. Last year the Zoigl was perhaps the best ive had, this year barely drinkable full of mistakes. A cool place.. But its a complete gamble with the beer..“

“SinH4, CS and I entered through a small courtyard with a tractor. Looks like a large living room with a view into the brewer's kitchen. Most people were eating when we arrived, so it was pretty quiet. Zoigl was just OK, a bit too much on the buttery side. Folks were friendly. I asked for directions to the toilet and was told turn left at the tractor. Nice stop.“

“Just off the main street through ton, you'll see the zoigl sign on the corner but it's a few door in. Large interior but a bit dark. Just one other table drinking when SinH4, CS and I arrived, so it was fairly quiet. Zoigl was tasty. Food was tasty too, I had the wurst cocktail. Nice place.“

“Visited with Travlr and CS. A very rustic Zoiglstube with a Zoiglstern pendulum swinging above the entrance. Local fair, quite busy when we were there around lunchtime. Good beer as well, though not as great as I had expected from the ratings. Fun!“

“Visited with Travlr and CS. A classic Zoiglstube, located on the other side of the house row that faces the main street in Windischeschenbach. Beer was not excellent when we were there (though still tasty), but we had some tasty food. Fun place!“

“Last visit of the day. Very authentic Zoigl place which still feels like you are sitting in the brewer’s family kitchen. Mainly because you actually really are. Decent Zoigl made by a brewer who only drinks wine himself. Had a great chat with the brewer and some other guests, including a fellow beer traveller from Italy. Learned amongst others that a real coolship is still in use. Food is good and prices are more than decent. Would go again!“

“Visited on 14th July 2017. In the centre of town this is a large Zoigl stubl with a patio out front. Inside is a single room, nice decor that features a lot of wood, plenty of seating, only cold food available, cheese plate was really good value, the single beer available was a great example of zoigl, prices were good, service friendly. Good stop.“

“Visited on 14th July 2017. A two level Zoigl Stube in the centre of town. It’s got a little covered patio out back and plenty of seating dotted around. Decor is pretty homely and and is very smart. 1 beer on, a solid kellerbier, service and prices very good. Liked this place and it’s open most of the year which helps!“

“Visited on 14th July 2017. A little off the main drag and essentially a tent in the back garden of a sizeable house this is the second time I’d been Zoigling and first time I’d been here. Weather was a bit naff so thankful for the tent cover although bit of a pain with smokers but tolerable just!. Only the 1 beer, a decent kellerbier, service good, prices excellent. A decent venue.“

“Archetypal small-town gemütlich tavern where the two draws are the Zoigl beer - light amber, rustic, palate enveloping and deliciously simple - and the chance to natter and joke with your mates, especially if they are over 45.“

Ambiance - More of a traditional German tavern with a small patio. Relaxed feel. Kinda surprised they closed down, locked the place and went to church leaving us with our beer on the patio but that was also quite nice and relaxed instead of forcing us to leave when shutting down.
Service - Prompt.
Selection - One beer IIRC and it was a solid Zoigl.
Food - Did not eat.
Value - Very fair.
Additional comments - None!

Ambiance - My first ever experience of a Zoigl-stube and it was a nice one. Small outdoors garden-like serving area located on a very small street in a small German village fairly close to the Czech border. Beutiful setting in the sunny weather with plenty of garden flowers. Very relaxing!
Service - Prompt!
Selection - only one beer but it was a good one!
Food - Did not eat.
Value - Extremely fair. About €2 for 500 ml Zoigl.
Additional comments - Lovely beer culture experience.

“Nice Zoiglstube in that city with the longest name I have seen. We came for the Zoigl and kinda liked it. Rather interesting that the waitress and the owner both left and locked the biers tube. Good for us we were on the patio and could finish our beers...“

“My first visit to a Zoiglstube. You find this place on a small street and first it looks like you are coming to someones house. But once you gets there, you can see that there are quite a few seats. Some locals visited when we got there on a Sunday afternoon. Only one beer available of course, but it was quite nice. We had a good relaxing time in the sun.“

“Walked past it a couple of times. Make a note of the address as this will confirm you are about to walk into some one’s house. No external signage, just the small zoigl brewers sign at the entrance which is located on the side of the house. Very welcoming hosts, zoigl is good. Went during a lunchtime rush, lots of workers. Opens from 1000. Food is mad-for-meat. Service is like being a guest in someone’s home. Check the calendar before coming, the town of Windischeschenbach is pretty dead.“

“On a personal visit guided by the brewer Martin Popp, we were treated to one of the most exceptional beers ever had in our lives. At 6 weeks in the maturation tanks, the Gloser Zoigl was in stunning shape: toasty, nutty, minerallic, rich and savory in the mouth, the aroma and flavor not unlike the crackling burnt edges of artisan bread. The beer is a gem of Oberpfalz, and the experience a singular one in our beer travels. The character of the stube and the quality of the beer speaks to Martin’s commitment to quality. I would go out of my way to visit again during an open weekend.“

“If you’re going to enjoy a little genuine Zoigl in Eschawo on a weeknight, you can choose from either of the two local hotels or Loistl. Or you can start at Loistl and move on to one of the hotel Zoigl Stub’n later on. Either way, Loistl is a classic locals’ pub, yet friendly and inviting for visiting guests as well. Don’t miss it.“

“Visited on a very special day in mai with my parents. We went by car sp easy to get there, and parking just outside. This pub is in an old cityhouse, multiroomed and very cosy. They also have a big beergarden outside., perfect on a sunny day. Being a zoigl place they only have one beer, served in good condition. The landlord was very friendly. And as most other zoigl places, they serve a few dishes. For sure worth another visit, you have to check out for opening hours, and check if the zoigl star is out, otherwise they are closed.“
