Very little English spoken but the hosts are extremely polite and patient. Beer and food were on good form. Beware the restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.“ |

It’s around 10 mins from the station on the other side of the line from the town. The interior of the venue is very traditional in decor, lots of dark wood, the beer garden was pretty nice and spacious. Decent array of beers, service and food good. Prices decent. Solid venue and added bonus of a Getrankemarkt next door to pick up some bargain bottles.“ |

Neatly laid out so easy to peruse. Well lit. Not much is refrigerated, so keep that in mind. If you are in the area, this is definitely the place to go to load up. It’s not too far from the local train station, which is handy.“ |

After some negotiation, we were allowed to sit outdoors (in January...) and have some beers. Quite lousy service, and beers were not amazing. I dont plan to visit again.“ |
| 66 /100 toom Getränkemarkt (Beer Store) REGENSBURGER STRASSE 11 “Largeish getrankemarkt about a 5 minute walk from the city walls and a little more to the HBF. Visited on day 1 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, 24/01/14 around 5pm.
The place has an 80’s UK supermarket feel too it, bare floors, crates and pallets dotted about but we werent here for aesthetics lets be clear! Good range of national and local/regional offerings a good 100+ different beers on show.
Service was decent enough, no one to ask for help just a functional beer supermarket with an efficient cashier. Locals were starting to turn up in force bearing crates of empties as we were leaving, ready to be refilled for another weekends drinking! Prices, as typical in a German getrankemarkt are very cheap. We picked up over 30 bottles for about €24! Well worth the visit if in town and as others have mentioned the Amberg breweries are well represented.“ |

You’re going to walk past the Toom Getrankemarkt on the way there, so it’s worth it to step our of central Amberg for a short session.“ |

All were pretty rough and unclean, which surprises me since these are brewed at Winkler and given the relatively high quality of the Winkler pils you can find just down the street. Nice folks, though. Wouldn’t say don’t visit as Amberg is so small you should be able to hit every beer-related business in town in only a couple of hours. But this place certainly isn’t a destination.“ |

I arrived in Germany in May 2007, and within just a few days (that first weekend), I had made my way to this hotel on a business trip. They served up my first Munich dunkel (Kupfer Spezialbier), and I was forever hooked. I purchased a case of this brew, and I continue to do so each time I pass through Amberg (about 3-4 times a year). They also brew up a wide variety of beers, and even provide them in gift packs through one of the outlet stores located there in the hotel. The food is wonderful, and the hotel rooms are very clean. This is where I ALWAYS go whenever I’m in the area.“ |
