88 /100 ZWØLF by Yankee&Kraut (Bar) KREUZSTR 6 Visited twice, once with Max, the second time sadly without him. Impressive location next to the church, cozy modern interior, great beers on tap and some good snacks. |
56 /100 GUTSSTRAßE 4 Restaurant with Biergarten. Norbräu beers (the production is just next door). Around 5 tap beers available. Good service and ambiance. The food is good. |
88 /100 ZWØLF by Yankee&Kraut (Bar) KREUZSTR 6 We visited here Wednesday 5th January 2022, we were able to park very close by as the large car park on the edge of the centre has an area dedicated for campers. ZWØLF is a modern style craft beer bar, uncluttered, clean and minimalist. Interestingly there is room of similar dimensions downstairs, so this really is a fairly large place. In terms of location, it is reasonably central in Ingoldstadt, so for those using public transport it should be fairly easy to reach. It is the taproom for Yankee & Kraut and offers 12 taps of which about 9-10 are from their own range, I think that there was a beer or two from Wittman on our visit.
It was quiet when we arrived, however, we were here around 18:30, as the evening wore on more folk visited. I understand from Max (co-owner) who came and sat with us that this was the first night that they had opened since the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The beers were all very good to excellent, there is a clear leaning towards modern hazy styles of IPA of varying strengths but as Stefan states below there are styles for the traditionalists. Also, note that you can take beer away with you, there is a good range of cans in the fridges to the left of the bar.
We really liked it here, prices are very reasonable, Max is great, and being almost equidistant between Ingoldstadt and Munich this will make a great alternative option. |
84 /100 Yankee & Kraut Webshop (Internet-based) DONAUSTR. 3 Ordered the Tasting Box in August 2021. Website easy to navigate, smooth order and payment process. Fast processing and delivery. Free delivery for bundles, good value. Recommended! |
62 /100 SCHULSTR 19 Local BrewPub where we can try about 4 or 5 tap beers. Good ambiance and nice service. Prices are DE prices. |
88 /100 ZWØLF by Yankee&Kraut (Bar) KREUZSTR 6 Finally open, and located right next to the Ingolstadt Münster, this is a modern and hip craft beer place by the local craft brewery Yankee&Kraut. The interieur is modern "skandinavian" and simplistic, but it does what it should. The beer selection consist of a lot of Hazy IPAs, just like the brewery's portfolio, but they also brew a Helles and a Weizen of good quality, so even old school Bavarians will find something here (and of course, never forget the very hoppy Transfusion session Lager). Pricing is very fair for what the beers are, and you can even get 1.8l pitchers of any beers (beware, if you fill a pitcher with Hazy IPA you might lose track in some way).
For the hungry ones there was a local sausage on offer, but don't come here for the food, it will merely be a beer snack to gap some time
I had a lot of fun and I will definitely come back! |
72 /100 SCHULSTR 19 In the heart of Ingolstadt just around the corner from ZWØLF. Visited for a Frühschoppen, ate some local sausages that were very good. Beer quality is decent Bavarian quality. Fun place! |
60 /100 Weissbräuhaus zum Herrnbrau (Restaurant) DOLLSTR. 3 Visited for lunch. Busy place, a little bit overworked service. Food was nice, beers are okay. Standard classic Bavarian brewpub. |
82 /100 Yankee & Kraut Webshop (Internet-based) DONAUSTR. 3 So this is the webshop of Yankee&Kraut. You get all their beers and a couple extras, also some bundles available. Extremely fast handling of packages using GLS. I'm a base customer these days, it's great to be able to get those beers shipped. |
84 /100 Yankee & Kraut Webshop (Internet-based) DONAUSTR. 3 Shopped for beer last month, delivery was quick and well packaged. The website is clear, works very well and is easy to navigate. You can buy the beer in bundles or singles, you can probably get it a little cheaper by buying bulk bundles, however the prices are very good regardless. There is also a cool merchandise section with shirts, baseball cap, glasses etc. I have met one, maybe both of these guys a couple of times with the Ratebeer Munich tasting group, they are lovely, super cool and make some really great beer. I wish them all the best and really good to see this online webshop. |
64 /100 REWE (Grocery Store) ERIAGSTR. 30 One of the groceries stores in Ingolstadt where, besides the more commercial Bavarian beers, it's also possible to find some craft beers. |
64 /100 ROSENECKSTR 1 Local produced beer. Nice and traditional place, with traditional german dishes. Good service. Nice ambiance. |
44 /100 Weissbräuhaus zum Herrnbrau (Restaurant) DOLLSTR. 3 We visited Weissbräuhaus zum Herrnbrau in Saturday 10th August 2019. We had been to Kuchlbauer Brewery in the morning and then cycled alongside the Danube River in the afternoon from our campsite Campingplätz Felbermühle by Bad Gögging and Neustadt an der Donau. We hadn't intended visiting Weissbräuhaus zum Herrnbrau, we actually parked the bikes up outside the café/bar that houses Yankee and Kraut but while the café was open they didn't sell Y&K which was through the back and closed, so we visited here. We never really orientated ourselves around the town, however this place appears to be quite central. From the outside it looks similar to all of the other buildings that it shares it's side of the street with, so white in colour, though the name is picked out in gold lettering. I may be wrong but the street appeared pedestrianised.
Inside it was a little dark in the front part, in fact when I nipped back in to use the toilets which btw are off to the left side of the bar if viewed from front, but yes, it was really dark and gloomy in here. We walked through to a small covered courtyard at the rear, as this was where everyone else was sat. Service was poor, despite the fact that most folk here were drinking the man serving seemed annoyed when we asked if we could just have a drink, and even more annoyed when I looked at the beer menu and tried ordering beers *not seasonal beers btw, that weren't available. It's safe to say we didn't like the place, the beer was okay, the other customers were fine but we felt not welcomed and drank up quickly and left. |
60 /100 AM WESTPARK 6 Now with "Brauhaus 1516" name, 5 tap beers available (4 house beers + 1 external). Good food, good service and nice ambiance. |
56 /100 Biermuseum Weißbierbrauerei Kuchlbauer (Restaurant) SCHAFFBRAUSTRASSE 11A Visited for dinner, primarily. Unusually for a traditional Bavarian place, they have some vegan options on their menu.
The food was good examples of things you'd find in any number of places in Bavaria.
Solid selection of Kuchlbauer beers on offer.
The interior is quite a nice layout, with one side raised. Service was fast and friendly. |
64 /100 Flyts Bar (Bar) GRIESMÜHLSTR 2 Small bar, with a large garden outside. Turned on to it by the guys at Yankee & Kraut brewery as being the best place in town to get their beers. No lie, there are 6 of them in bottles.
The place is big on wine, whisky and gin and seems to specialise in offering tasting flights of these.
They have Herrn beer on tap, but 40 craft beer bottles. Some of which are from German craft breweries I hadn't heard of. There are a few not-so-uncommon world beers too, such as Siren, Firestone Walker and Chimey, but the vast majority is German.
It's small inside, and on a wet Saturday night, it's absolutely heaving, and people keep coming in. While I got my first beer quickly, I don't know how I'm going to attract anyone's attention for another. The garden is large, and on a nice day, this probably wouldn't be an issue. |
68 /100 GUTSSTRAßE 4 Typical bavarian "Biergarten" with huge chestnut trees (German: Kastanie) in it. Self-service restaurant with local food and beer from the Nordbräu brewery Ingolstadt located next to it. Delicious beers (I recommend the typical Weissbier) and gorgeous food (order the Schweinshaxe!!) in huge servings. You definitely won’t go out hungry. |
44 /100 Bräustüberl zur Sudpfanne (Restaurant) MANCHINGER STR. 95 We came here on 23.1.2016 on the way to a Bundesliga football match of the local team. Stadium is only 5 min from this place. The restaurant is attached to the quite large Herrenbräu brewery. Beers were very light and commercial. Food was ok, better than the beers. Decoration also very mediocre. Service was very friendly. |
74 /100 Bier Schmankerl (Beer Store) ZIEGELBRÄUSTR. 4 Well set-up and nicely decorated small bottle-shop in the center of Ingolstadt. Same guys who ran the Donaupoint beer-shop. Good selection of beers, mostly German, some Belgian and English beers. Few American and Japanese ones. All sorted by style. They offer a small selection of proper glassware, what is great. They do also offer homebrew suppliance stuff as hops and yeast, as well as metallic pots. |
70 /100 Weissbräuhaus zum Herrnbrau (Restaurant) DOLLSTR. 3 Typical bavarian restaurant with local specialities. Herrnbräu beers from tap (the most common: Helles, Hefeweizen, dunkles Vollbier, Pils) and the rest available in bottles. The service (an old lady) was typical bavarian style, a little rude but friendly. |
60 /100 Donaupoint (Beer Store) HOLLBRAUGASSE 5 Store seemed to be pretty new. Fine selection of mostly national, German (Craft) beers. Good choice of Bavarian beers. Some selected international beers, they even had few Japanese Craft beers in stock. Unfortunately they had no glassware to offer (what I needed very badly).
They seemed to be moved to another location in the city of Ingolstadt (Ziegelbräustr. 4) and changed the name to Bier Schmankerl. |
50 /100 Weissbräuhaus zum Herrnbrau (Restaurant) DOLLSTR. 3 Brewery-tap. 3 beers on tap + bottles. All brews on tap are nothing interesting. |
40 /100 AM WESTPARK 6 Brewpub in the shopping mall. Just one brew - helles and it sucks. |
64 /100 GUTSSTRAßE 4 Visited in May.
Large beer garden a good way from the Hbf (had taxi from WestParkBrau)
Decent range of Nordbrau beer available in a nice beer garden setting with a hunting lodge affair also. Lots of hunting related tat around the place.
Decent service and a nice place. Just one hell of a schlepp from hbf |
54 /100 AM WESTPARK 6 16 bus takes you from station to Westpark and a short stroll to WestParkBrau
1 beer on tap and 1 bottle available on this visit. Part of a shopping centre so very light and airy and quite a large place. Not many folk in when we visited.
Got the tick in, beer was OK. Wouldn’t dash back |
72 /100 Biermuseum Weißbierbrauerei Kuchlbauer (Restaurant) SCHAFFBRAUSTRASSE 11A If you don’t find it at first, don’t despair - the street curves ninety degrees while keeping the name and numbering. I was at first annoyed because of the unannounced change in opening hours (just a piece of paper slapped up on the door), but the friendly service and patronage (some of the guys were a hoot) quickly made up for it. They only have Kuchlbauer, which is not particularly great and the bar is dark, but the garden is bright and peaceful and the Spargelsüppchen was delicious. |
44 /100 Weissbräuhaus zum Herrnbrau (Restaurant) DOLLSTR. 3 Beers are kinda shitty and the service was slow and rude. Something of a side street but did have some some foot traffic and wasn’t bad to people-watch, and I think they have a garden in the back. But god LORD don’t be siting out on the patio when the nearby clock bells go off, unless you want some early-onset tinnitus. The beers are readily available all over town, I’d advise another spot unless you’re really hungry for the tick. |
