“I've been here a couple times now but never thought to do a rating for some reason. It's a cool spot in a unique location right across the Roebling Bridge from downtown Cincinnati. It's a nice space, with a market at one end and a bar and restaurant taking up about 75% of the space. There are only 8 taps but they're usually pretty good. The market space has a lot of cans, too, most of which are on the in-house menu, as well. The food is good. Sandwiches, pizza, apps, salads, and some unique offerings on the menu. Service is always friendly. Prices are fair. Nice spot.“

“Just over the bridge from Cincinnati, located in "downtown" Covington, this is a cool little spot that was very busy on a Wednesday night. They had 20 or so taps, with 4 oz pours of everything. I tried 5 beers, most of which were pretty solid, especially their Czech pils and west coast IIPA. Friendly service and decently priced, maybe a bit pricey. Worth visiting when in Cincy.“

“Dingy, old school, liquor store motif. Local selection was limited and local single selection was disappointing. However, they have a great choice of curated (i.e. out of production) bottles that is outstanding.“

“Nice, wide open, high ceiling location. Friendly, attentive staff and lots of drafts. Something for everyone. If you're in Greater Cincinnati, make the trip to visit.“

“Haven't been here since the place was still Cork 'N Bottle. The service and attitude of the employees have definitely improved and the selection, while not as comprehensive as The Party Source, seems to have gotten a little better as well. Decent selection, including some breweries whose beer isn't distributed across the river in Ohio. This was only my second time buying beer anywhere in Kentucky since before the pandemic, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Yazoo is now available in Kentucky. Some German beers were stocked that I don't see in a lot of other places. I wish the place sold singles but you can't have everything. Worth a visit if you're in the area.“

“A no frills pub nice enough to have a beer in but not a place I would stay for a second one.“

“Visited on a busy Sunday afternoon. Server was prompt enough but her only beer knowledge was the names on the beer list. Had to ask for what was on draft; couldn’t see list posted and there was no draft menu. Enough choices between cans and draft. I have a pet peeve: bars that don’t bring a glass when serving canned or bottled beer. Add this place to the list. Mac n cheese is their specialty with about half-dozen varieties, plus a special of the day offered by server. I ordered it but she came back to tell me they were out of it. I had a different Mac n cheese dinner that was okay, boy nothing exceptional.“

“Parking is tricky. It’s half a restaurant and a half deli with six packs for sale. The bottle and can list is maybe 40 beers. The taps feature mainly local beers. I went there for brunch and the menu was pretty small But the food was pretty good. It was kind of pricey: three adults for $62. Service was friendly but not that knowledgeable as our waiter admitted he does not drink and knows nothing about beer.“

“Visited late afternoon on a Thursday on the way to the airport. Located on a cool historic block in Covington. Remodel of the space is very impressive, with wood, brick and concrete featured in the design. The room is a big space with tables, high top, and long leather couch seating. The L shaped bar is oversized with plenty of seating. This place was built to handle a big crowd. The beer selection is 18 house beers available as full pours or 4 beer x 5 oz flight for $8. Most beers available to go as six pack can, bomber, crowler or growler. Also had coffee hot cold or nitro on tap. There was a bus brewery tour happening, so noisy fun crowd having a good time. Service was friendly.

76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Molly Malone’s is a Covington standard, right downtown on Fourth Street. It’s in a really old brick building and has a very lived-in feel, giving it a lot of authentic character. It’s got your typical American-Irish pub vibe and setup, and is the official bar of the local chapter of the American Outlaws, with plenty of soccer stuff on the walls. There are some American and English/Irish macros on tap, and a good selection of regional crafts. Braxton makes the house dry Irish stout, a solid Guinness clone, basically. They’ll also have some seasonals, along with a few other local breweries. I didn’t try the food, but it looked like standard pub fare. Prices were fine for the area. The service was slow, but I think the event that evening at the convention center made for more of a crowd than is typical on a Thursday after work. Overall, a good enough place in Covington for food and beers and soccer, and I’m sure I’ll be back again.“

“This bar is part of the newly renovated Hotel Covingtion. It would be great place to go for a business meeting, date or just to hang out. Spectacularly designed interior with 10 beer taps and 8 wine taps and numerous bottles. Drafts were $5.50 a glass, which is more than reasonable given the surroundings. Looked like the food might be good also. Classy place, within easy walking distance of Braxton’s Brew pub, well worth a stop.“

“This place just opened September 22,2016. It has 8 craft beer taps and 8 wine taps. Limited appetitizer type food(meats, cheeses & bread), all of which are quite good. Small, clean interior. Well lighted. Copper bar. A good selection of daught crafts. Owners were working bar when I visited, so the serve was quite good and friendly.“

“Visited in the late afternoon on a Sunday. There is metered parking in front of the location, and on Sunday’s it is free to park here. We got lucky there. Once inside, it looks like what a dream mancave would be like. There is a living room area, arcade games, a dining room area, you can see barrels and brewing equipment in the back, and there is a beautiful, nice sized bar. The beers on tap and nitro are on a hanging display that is visible as soon as you walk in. I like that. Up there, there is no way it could be blocked from view. The beers on tap were somewhat interesting. They had some German styles, plus a few different stouts and porters and some IPAs. It’s a good variety, but they are not all that adventurous in my opinion. Maybe they will get more adventurous as they get their footing. The beers themselves that I tried on my visit, were middle of the road, but previously I their Cream Ale and their Foreign Stout. Those were good. Service was good here, there were two bartenders and both stayed busy, but kept beer in front of all that wanted it. Pint prices were steep at $6+, but the flight price and sample price were fair. $6 for a flight of 4 and $2 per sample if done individually. All things considered, I will visit this place again. I enjoyed myself overall. Plus, their glassware is pretty sweet. They use their own labeled glasses for everything, and there are some pretty cool styles that they have. I do regret not getting the Teku-ish looking glass. Maybe I will next time I’m in.“

“Nice place to visit, quirky with trashy(funny) kungfu movies always playing. I had a draft(and I’m pretty sure there are more than 2 taps) and ample selection of bottles both imports, micros and locals. Food that I had was good. Definitely worthwhile visit.“

“A dump of a store, but has a good selection of beer and liquor - actually the best selection of micros that I know of in Covington. Another nice feature - it has very good prices on closeout beers. No costumer service to speak of for beer(they can and do just ring you up at the register), so you pretty much need to know what you are looking for.“

“Adored this place on a recent visit, in the company of phaleslu. Warm, brightly lit and decorated, it’s a quirky and quite winning place. Lively crowd and staff, very much a neighborhood feel to everything. The food was really marvelous, and the service terrific too. Loads of pleasant surprises on tap, including a rich array of locals and some Founders goodies from a recent tap takeover. Sampled some nice Mad Tree and Prairie stuff in the bottle too, and left with an overall really high impression.“

“Enjoyed some brew here with the estimable phaleslu, who rates 100/100 among tickers. As you can see from the photo above, it’s a really quite handsome spot. I enjoy the Covington vibe in general, and this place had a really strong neighborhood vibe. Dog-friendly, and convivial on every level. Oh, and the beers were might impressive, ranging from saisons to coffee stouts. Very fine place, and would welcome the chance to try it out again.“

“We stayed a few streets over at an airbnb for Reds game. After the missus crashed I went on a walkabout here. Really nice layout. Open space, couches, long bar, outside seating, games. Bartenders were enthusiastic. A number of people there, but reasonably chill for a saturday night. The beers are solid, middle of the road. Got a bag of their affiliated coffee beans.“

“After visiting during the grand opening (a sea of people), I’m back here now at 2pm on a beautiful Friday to get a better feel for the place, and to try their new Foreign Stout: Dead Blow. Making the journey over here is pretty fun, as I get to see a part of town that I’m not familiar with at all -- it really is a charming neighborhood. Parking isn’t too bad (meters are 35c an hour), and it’s easy to find free parking in the evening. Walking in, you’re greeted with a relatively large open space, lit well with natural light by big windows. There’s two huge leather couches in the very center, with a half-dozen tables on the left and the bar and more tables on the right. About 20 taps or so, half blank (they only opened a few weeks ago) Some local guest taps during my visit, stuff from MadTree, Ei8ht Ball and Rhinegeist. Past the first area there’s sort of garage within the building, with 6 6-top tables, and a shelf with about a dozen different boardgames. This garage has a functioning door, and I believe this garage-room can be reserved for private events. With the 3 big white boards opposite of the board-game shelf, it seems to be designed with corporate events in mind. In the back of the space is the brewery, which seems to occupy about 1/3 of the building. It’s separated by a waist high railing, and much more spartan than the reasonably well-decorated entrance. Aside from the two couches in the center, there’s another small lounge area on the left, sort of awkwardly placed between two arcade machines. Bathrooms are pretty impressive. Music was just a bit loud for my taste, and the place seemed to reflect conversation pretty loudly. A general hum of noise, despite the area being mostly empty. My pint was $6, I assumed the rest are too -- they seem to be adopting the OTR price standard. A pretty interesting space overall. Tables in the garage look fun for getting a round of catan in during less busy hours. Would probably visit causally if I lived in the neighborhood, but overall I’ll likely return only to try the new beers -- which overall so far have been solid but nothing super-interesting nor stand-out.“

“I’ve visited a couple times now - on opening night, and another less crowded weekend night - and Braxton was well-staffed with friendly people both times. The place is in Covington’s revitalizing downtown, just over the river from downtown Cincinnati. They launched with 4 house brews, which were average overall. Same for the fifth, released later. There’s no food, but you can bring it in from other places. The atmosphere is ’modern garage,’ which seems to be the brewery’s whole theme. They also are proud of their modern touches - large TVs, interactive social media, fast wi-fi, and a lot of other decorative and interactive bells and whistles. They’re very proud of the place. Pints are priced at $5.50 each and tasters are $2 apiece; fairly standard. There are lots of bells and whistles here and they’ve focused on a comprehensive, modern brewery all-around. I’m hoping beer quality catches up to this standard.“

“Probably not fair to rate this brewpub on its opening night - it was packed. Looked like a really great place to have a beer, but so far they only had 4 different beers on tap. I had the porter and IPA, both were good. On another visit I had a few of the other brews-not so good. I’ll stop back here soon and probably change my rating(higher I’d guess) when I do.“

Wunderbar (Restaurant)
1132 LEE ST
“Stopped in here on a Wednesday evening for an after-work dinner and beers. It’s a nondescript corner building on a busy street just outside downtown Covington, convenient to 71-75. The interior suggests a former neighborhood dive bar, and it’s been updated with some historic and German decor, cleaned up a little, and given a decent patio. The service was friendly but there was only one guy working when we went, and it got somewhat busy with what seemed to be regulars. There are awesome beer deals to be had, but of course I went for a German brew I hadn’t tried before. The food is really good stuff; giant pretzels with beer cheese and another sauce, house-made sausages, gigantic burgers, good sides - just all-around big, hearty, tasty, carb-loaded stuff. The beer list left a little to be desired; only 6 of 12 taps were full, though the bartender said they were gradually filling them up. West Sixth IPA, a seasonal MadTree, Weihenstephaner, Einbecker, PBR, and Hudy were on when I went. Ridiculously big mugs of Hudy and PBR are just a few bucks. The place has been open almost 2 years now, so they’re not going too fast in terms of filling the rest of the handles (the 12 taps in the details comes with an asterisk). There are about 30 bottles/cans, too, representing local and regional crafts, Germans, and macros. Prices overall are low for what you get. I’ll definitely be back, but I might wait a while until they get more into a groove beer-wise.“

“Popped in and out of here while looking for something sold out at The Party Source. The place is small and the beer section is really small. Mostly macro-type 6- and 12-packs in a room off to the side, along with some craft packs and some bombers. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but a few seasonal things that had been sold out elsewhere. Prices seemed in line with the area. The focus here is mostly on wine and spirits. Cork & Bottle is about a block away; you’ll do much better there beer-wise.“

“I wouldn’t go to Wunderbar for the beer, but it usually has one or two beers on tap that I will drink(mad tree, west sixth, etc) and a decent selection of german beers. Decent bottle selection also. I love the food here! Home made sausages, many with interesting herbs & spices. Fantastic brussel sprout, cabbage, etc (side dishes). Huge homemade pretzels and pretty good beer cheese. If you are near this area, make it a stop, have a beer, but definitely have the sausages with side dishes.“

“Molly Malone’s is rather loud, even after the large group left. For a pub, I had to almost yell at my server to give an order. The service was average. People were friendly, but they didn’t know some of the stuff they had and there were times we were waiting for the server for something. The food was not good. The meat was low quality. Thank goodness there were banana peppers to save my sandwich. The beer selection was pretty decent, but some of the beers on the list were not available. The value was alright. Things were not too expensive. I feel like the price was fair for the food. Overall this place was average. They had areas they could have been great in, like service and food, but they just seem to be like a place that is floating by rather than a place trying to be better.“

“Occupies a storefront on Madison Avenue. Interior is a typical Asian decor with typical well-done dishes, friendly prompt service. The edge is in the beer list - 100 bottles of great variety, including many top US and world brews. I am already familiar with nearly all the selections, but, what does it matter? Where else can you pair a Lindemanns Framboise with General Chicken? I’ll return.“
