“With plenty of local and far flung beers to choose from and a nice ambiance, this place is very much worth a stop,“

“This place is a bit of a drive from downtown Columbia but my wife and I thought it was well worth it. They didn’t have a ton of beers on tap, everything was from Bur Oak but it was all high quality. We will definitely be coming back.“

“I really wanted to like this place but I was not impressed. It looks great, on a huge campus with plenty to do outside. The selection was just plain bad with only a few LB beers and one guest cider. We could have tried their whole beer menu in a half hour. It’s hard to spend a lot of time here. The beer quality is good, but it seems everything they make is seasonal so you don’t have a lot of your favorites on at once. I think LB is on it’s way up but as of right now I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here again. Also, it is well outside of downtown Columbia while most other breweries were in walking distance.“

“Brewery has an old feel, like it’s been around a long time but was still clean. Very friendly service; they let you try anything they have free of charge. Good prices, the only drawback is the beer is so-so and they have no guest taps. They had a great bourbon selection behind the bar; perhaps I will drink that next time.“

“We came here for Sunday brunch. Great looking place with celtic decor. Great service. Good selection on tap, great selection on bottles. Great food, a bit pricey. Next time I’m in Columbia, I will be sure to stop in.“

“Very nice place but the prices aren’t too high. Ambiance is a solid 10. Service is on par with what you would expect from a nice restaurant. Their selection was not all that great but better than what you would expect. I was surprised to see SN Bigfoot on tap; maybe I’m just easily impressed. The food was really good. Fair prices for the quality. I’m judging it as an overall experience, not just a beer place.“

“The food here is excellent. If you are brewery hopping in CoMo you should eat here. The beers are just okay, not a huge selection but value was good and service was very friendly. Don’t come here for just the beers but if you make a whole meal out of it you will not be disappointed.“

“Visited for dinner on a Wednesday. Big sprawling traditional pizza joint located in downtown Columbia. The counter where you order pizza is directly ahead as you enter. You can order a beer from the 8 taps at the counter, or you can order a beer at the bar around the corner which offered a wider selection, looked to be about 16 beers. Cans and bottles also available. Solid list of local beers, as well as National craft. Nothing terribly limited, but all well chosen. Seating was in many different rooms, and built to handle any size of party. Local friendly crowd, I ordered at the counter, service was understandably quick and efficient. Pizza was great.

70 = ★★½ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Most of the beer is good, but not outstanding, but the Oil Change Oatmeal Stout is an excellent example of the style...smooth and very drinkable. The food is a great value, as would be expected in a small college town. Don’t expect to be able to walk right into the place on Mizzou football weekends as one and a half hour waits are not uncommon...one of the downsides of being located in the home of one of the most exciting and competitive college football teams in the nation. Go Tigers!! UPDATE: This place just keeps on improving. The beer is better than ever before and the food is outstanding. Highly recommended.“

“Great food and well thought out beer menu. The name 44 stone relates to the English method of determining a person’s weight, and is the combined weight of the two owners. I really like that the place is away from the center of this college town, so it can be a momentary refuge from the student population.“

“Visited after dinner on a Wednesday. East to find, just off College Ave on your way into town from the interstate. Big new brewery with parking in the lot or on the street. The interior tasting room is pretty narrow, with a long bar on one side and a couple of smaller tables on the other side. The brewery itself is visible through the windows in the tasting room. 11 house beers and 1 cider on draft. Nice range of styles, with a focus on English style ales. The highlight of the place is the huge grassy area outside that featured a food truck, picnic tables and all kinds of yard games (think Bocce, cornhole, rings, etc.). Nice people throughout, fun place.

76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“I can’t believe this place is in the database. But I went here after Chaminade’s state championship victory in 2016 and it’s already in the database, so might as well let people know what it’s like. It’s on the right upper floor of a weird half-submerged split-level two-story building downtown. A line forms just inside the door, where the long order counter is. There are some tables in the back, and a square bar. They bring your food out to you, and you order drinks at the bar. There are 6 taps, which manage both macros and locals (Logboat and Mark Twain when I was there; the third craft handle was out). $9 pitchers for the craft stuff, which is way better than I ever see in a non-college town, so that was great. A few craft bottles and cans in the fridge. The pizza is good, but this is just not a beer destination by any stretch. You’d have to be in Columbia a long time to make this a worthy stop for beer seekers.“

“Cool building. Bar room is in a shot gun kind of setup. Latest time I visited (yesterday) was really nice out and I enjoyed the outdoor area. Food truck was there too. Ive enjoyed their beers both times I’ve gone. Everything has been solid 3’s for me so far. I was a bit disappointed that I stopped in Columbia while driving through just to try Mocha beer as listed on their website, but they were out (and a day later the site still says they have it). If I still lived in Columbia I’d probably spend time here.“

“Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Good location near downtown Columbia. It was raining outside, so everyone was indoors. The taproom was good size so plenty of room to find a place to sit. It was a nice new building with glass behind the bar to see into the brewery. Music was a little loud, no big deal. They had eight beers on tap, all were good. Staff was friendly, you could tell they cater to the locals. Well worth the stop, will visit again.“

“Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, nice new building. The tasting room has about 8 tables and two tables in the brewery. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the two samplers they had, eight beers total. All were good. They offered a tour, but you could see everything from either the tasting room or stepping out into the brewery. Interesting concept, they had a rescue cat in the brewery to keep the mice away. Was told since there are fields around the building, had a mouse problem at one time. Well worth the stop, hope to visit again.“

“Very cute place just off the main drag of downtown Columbia. About 12 of their own taps. First one I'm having is the Katy Trail Pale Ale which is pretty solid. Food menu looks good - sandwiches, burgers, pizza and entrees. Just ordered the ribs. Service has been good so far, and prices seem reasonable. Definitely recommend!“

“Walking into ITap CoMO is impressive. There are 59 taps and countless coolers of beer, and the selection is the best in the entire city; you easily figure out that love at first sight exists. Although there are countless TVs throughout the entire bar, the extremely helpful staff and the beer nerds that hang out there create a great environment. They obtain many whales as well as local favorites, and there are no BMC beers to be found anywhere. It is here that I can truly indulge in my beer geekiness, and the staff enable me completely. In other words, I absolutely love this bar.“

“Large liquor store in a gas station, 2 4 1. This is a very good selection b/c you get some StL beers that dont make it to KC but they dont sell out as fast as they do in StL. Prices are also very good. They also had good prices on cognac. Would definitely pull in my way though town, you know... to fill up.“

“Visited here once and really loved the place. Hidden in a complex with lots of parking lots is what I remember most. But its a new place and nicely designed. Cool wall menu with the beer bottles, a specialty beer list and taps with all different sizes. the selection was varied and interesting. Nothing mind blowing rare but plenty of beers I wanted to try. I loved the food menu. It has standard stuff and some more adventurous food, I went for the adventure. I want to visit again.“

“Been here twice, the place is right in the heart of Columbia, which is great and just a stone’s throw away from Flat Branch. Go downstairs and has that college town feel. The food is college town good. The beer sways toward hops and big. Pretty well done stuff. Like the place and like drinking the beer. Would still chose Flat Branch but this is a a good spot to visit.“

“Ate lunch here on the way from StL. to KC. Not a huge tap selection, but well chosen. Overall beer list was interesting. They had a cellar selection section on the menu of harder to find bottles. Food was solid. Prices were good. Server seemed to know about beer. Definitely worth a visit.“

“Ragtag is kind of an interesting location in Columbia to grab a beer. It is an independent movie theater with a couple of movie screens, a bakery, and a bar all together. The beer selection is interesting too. They will get in some really cool beers that most places in Columbia won’t put on tap (The Beast, Saison DuPont, Delirium Tremens, etc.), but they only have around 6 beers on tap, so not a huge selection. It is nice that you can buy a great beer and take it into the theater and enjoy while watching a indie movie. But I never really felt like hanging out here, if I wasn’t there to see a movie. The weekends can get quite busy, and it was always took awhile to get a beer.“

“Where do I start with 44 Stone? As soon as you walk in the doors, you know you are in the care of people who care about what you are about to put in your mouth, whether that be beer or food. The aromas of fresh ingredients cooking is delectable and instantly makes you want to try any of the tasty dishes, which can be pricey although completely worth the money. The roast chicken I had and the bangers and mash my boyfriend had were both very, very delicious; furthermore, the fries and flourless chocolate cake were done extremely well despite the simplicity of the dishes. There are 12 taps that rotate very frequently and that always have some of the best beers around: Stone, North Coast, Firestone Walker, Founder’s, Southern Tier, Ommegang, Belgian brews, and tons of local breweries that pride themselves on artisan and real ales. On top of this, the bottles selection is almost enough to make you think there are too many options. Additionally, everyone there knows about the beers on tap, for the manager makes even the waitresses sample the beers in order for them to inform the customers as to what will be the best for their tastes. Even more, the bartenders are very friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic.“

“I always come here because of the tap selection, for it has the most taps in Columbia with a great selection of craft beers to boot; however, I always end up not enjoying my experience there because of the waitresses. Not one knows anything about beer, for they think everything complements a burger and chips. Once you do order, it takes forever for the beer to come out to you if you aren’t someone the waitress can flirt with, for that is what they only seem to be able to do. Really, the waitress lean on the table and flirt with single guys while ignoring families and couples, which is rude as hell. Looking to the food, it is general bar fare with burgers, wings, and pizza, but it isn’t executed that well because it seems like they count on everyone being drunk. Overall, I really only come here for the beer, but I’m starting to wonder if even that makes it worth it.“

“The location of this place is very nice, for they’ve taken the basement restaurant and turned it into an escape away from the bustle that fills Broadway Avenue on any given hour; also, the dim lighting sets the mood for the experience you are about to have. Not only is their beer brewed behind the windows at the rear of the bar, but all the food is local, which creates a very mouthwatering product. The food is amazing, but it sometimes is overcooked (the one time I’ve gotten a burger, it was dry). Their selection of beer seems to be alright for a small brewery just getting started, but none of their house brews are terribly impressive while still being quite expensive. Sometimes there are guest taps, which are always delicious beers when featured, but this isn’t always a reliable option. However, if I’ve sat at a table rather than at a bar, I’ve gotten horrible service. The first time, the waitress took about 10 minutes to even greet me, at which time she forgot to bring out silverware and a menu; because I didn’t learn my lesson the first time, my second experience at a table gave me a waitress that was visibly wasted, and she took to ignoring me for a glass of white wine at the bar. This second waitress, once I got her attention in order to ask for another beer because my glass had been empty for 10 minutes at that point, was rude as hell to me and even forgot to bring me the beer I ordered until I asked the bartender; turns out she hadn’t even placed the order. Also, neither of these waitress knew anything about the beer they were serving, which is horrible considering it’s brewed there. Seriously, if you go here, sit at the bar, for the bartenders have always been cordial and wonderful while the waitresses are rude, vapid, and incapable.“

“Flat Branch is a Columbian institution for a reason. If you arrive there and don’t have to wait, you immediately get ushered into the building, which is very spacious with high ceilings. Also, the way the space is organized is very nice, but the lighting can get awkward. If you go there once it has gotten dark, there are tables that are in the shadow and some tables that are in the spotlight and directly underneath low-hanging lights; however, you can sit outside in a very pleasant vine-fenced patio if it is nice enough to do so. I’ve never had a bad service experience here, but the business does lend itself to some issues with speed but not quality (on any given Friday or Saturday night, you will have people willing to wait an upwards of an hour just to be seated). There is a great variety of food that even the pickiest of eaters can find and enjoy something on the menu; I’ve had the pulled pork, the fish and chips, the pizza, the burgers, and others and have not once been unsatisfied with what I received despite not being blown completely away. Furthermore, the beer they have generally covers a great spread of styles on their 12 taps, but their beer tends to be on the malty side of the spectrum.“

“First and foremost, the pizza at this very low-key and informal corner restaurant is delicious. Whether you are getting a simple cheese pizza or a masterpiece with about 2 pounds of toppings, you are in for a treat. Alongside this delicious food, you can often find quality beer as well. Although there isn’t too terribly much variety, you can still find up to 12 different beers on tap between the front counter and the back bar, which will often include Bell’s, Founder’s, Boulevard, and Schlafly. In bottles, you can find some Southern Tier, Rogue, Tallgrass, and some other random good brews. It can get crowded, especially when its still early enough for families but late enough for the drinking crowd. All in all, this place is worth visiting for the food and some beer.“
