“Liked the taplist slightly more than the Loma Fermentorium, also better selection of bottles to go. Food is very vegan-focused, a few meat options but not many, and what I had was generally fine but unremarkable. That beer though ...“

“Located in a beautiful little village, this is another worthy addition to the growing Modern Times empire. Large taplist, with the usual 5 oz pours of everything -- rather high prices as usual, but with quality to boot. It was busy when we visited, but was still quick to order beers. They have a separate section where you can buy stuff to go. I wouldn't necessarily come out of my way to visit this location, but it's a great stop if you're in the area.“

“A typical no-frills brewery outlet - a bar, a tap-list and too few places to sit - a modernist bare concrete vibe. Best to try a beer or two and move on.“

“A nice open air place along S Coast Hwy, right in front of Whole Foods. We enjoyed a couple of lunch dishes and some fresh draught beer. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food pretty good. There is a diverse selection of beers, leaning more towards local options.“

“Visited early evening on 8th May 2016 (Mothers Day in the US), very busy. Modern joint with a thin outside area out the back, one table wide (tall thin tables with uncomfortable high stools), this must count as a Bier Garden around here. We were squeezed into one of the outside tables with a shoehorn and had a beer each, we were going to stay and eat here originally but the stools were cramped and we decided to move on. Both beers were fine and the tap list seemed interesting to me, a visiting Brit. Service was fine but the overall impression I got was of an overcrowded hip party where everyone wanted to over talk everyone else and there was no escape. Might be a better vibe when less busy.“

“Visited early evening on 7th May 2016, just enough space for my wife and to get a table towards the rear of this fairly thin, but long bar. Good and interesting tap list and a very extensive bottled menu, if a little on the expensive side. Only down side for me was a bottle of Pretty Things beer (Hedgerow Bitter) was a strange taste, just though it was us until I discovered it has been retired for some years and our bottle was obviously old and not a beer that should be aged. Did not try the food, looked good though. Busy and lively on the Saturday evening we popped in, nice vibe, friendly and hip (to a 62 year old Brit and his wife on their 39th Wedding Anniversary).“

“Visited on 8th May 2016. Never been to an Oggi’s before. Square and large, bar to your left as you walk in, TV screens everywhere, hundreds of them. Beer selection was almost all their own, our first two beers came in frosted glasses and we had ice within the liquid, far too cold for any aroma or taste to be found. Server was pleasant and the Sweet Potato Fries were very nice. Slot machine area near the toilets, strange to me anyway. Not overly impressed with the beers, even when a little warmer. This will be the last as well as my first Oggi’s experience.“

“Friday 6th May 2016: spent most of the 15:00 to 18:00 Happy Hours in here and had a great time. The place was pretty busy, so we sat in a corner near the bar and kitchen entrance watching the staff and customers while tucking into our food and beers. Basic layout, wooden floor, iron stools and one TV screen, a few tables too. 20 taps, mostly local, with some well known Belgian and German brews in the mix, and changing, the chalk board and printed menu’s were altered mid session while we were there. Food was excellent and I thought the beer quality top notch also. A great start to our three night break in Encinitas.“

“Situé en face du Whole Foods Encinitas. Sélection de base intéressante avec des produits plus génériques greffés à ça. Comme c’est souvent le cas dans les environs, les prix sont gonflés. Pour une ou deux pintes sans regarder avec une bonne ambiance, ça le fait. Ça ne laissera pas de marque indélébile dans votre vie par contre.“

“This area liquor shop is located in an older area of Encinitas among out-dated architecture and revived architecture alike. The store has a fairly large beer selection and one of the best in San Diego county. The prices are average and service upon request. There are several lambics and barrel-aged beers accompanying a mostly CA selection.“

“Stopped on by here after a morning hike to get some food. Nice looking bar/restaurant. Draft list was decent - though the menu has a standard number of options, you’ll need to look at the chalk board for the rotating selection of brews. I thought the food was decent, the burger and sweet potato fries were highlights for me.“

Comments: Daytime restaurant transforms to crowded bar at night, surprsing tap list with at least 15 offerings, about half macro and half local craft including Alpine, Stone, Ballast Point, Port, Hop Concept, Lost Abbey, Coronado, Mother Earth, Pizza Port. Angry Orchard cider as well. Really impressive. Didn’t try the food since I was there later in the evening. Lots of fun- super packed though. As a bar, people tend to dress up here, which is a first for North County SD. Will be back. “

Comments: It isn’t a beer focused place, but someone added this to RateBeer and I don’t think deleting it would do any good. It’s a fish taco/seafood focused restaurant with a tight menu, fresh and bright flavors, no fanfare. Order up at the front and then sit down at small tables or high top shared tables. Food was a tad messy/drippy but everything was super fresh and delicious..tacos, fries, fish n chips, po’boys. They carry a good number of Alesmith, Coronado, Stone, Green Flash, Saint Archer bottles/cans. But on tap they make a real point to carry a good but small selection of local craft including Prohibition, Mother Earth, Saint Archer, Figuroa Mountain, Acoustic Ales, Amplified, Ballast Point, etc. Decent keg rotation. I’ve been coming here every once in awhile since it is great food and not too expensive. Great place in general to eat in Encinitas without breaking the bank. Beer selection is sort of a secondary bonus if you are so inclined. “

“The selection here is extensive and impressive. Lots of beers out on the shelves, but a number of coolers as well. Lots and lots of local, San Diego breweries as well as special releases from the Bruery, Almanac, Firestone, and others. Lots of imports as well, which is sort of unusual for Southern California and San Diego in particular.

The place itself is a solid store, but some of the prices are laughable. For instance, the Bruery/Dogfish head collaboration from 3? years ago for $40? Hah! It’s a good place and you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for, but you may have to pay extra for it.“

“Really long, somewhat narrow place. A bar that runs the whole length of the establishment and some tables off to the side as well. Quite a divey feel, which I typically like.

Extensive bottle list (though somewhat laughably priced) and a really nice, eclectic draft list. Prices are pretty good and they do flights for $10 (four pours), as well as 4 ounce pours of any beer for $2.50, which is appreciated.

We didn’t eat anything here, but the food smelled and looked great. Looks like a great burger place.

Will have to try to make a stop in Encinitas again and make a return trip.“

> Legit bottle shop off the 101 in Leucadia (north Encinitas)

>> 3/4 of beers are not fridged, but they do a fairy good job of putting hoppy beers in the fridge. Well organized by brewery and country. Was able to find ALL of the Almanac sour releases and the new Lagunitas NightTime. Some other older Stone collab 12oz bottles are hard to find nowadays. Normal prices, no price gauging. Staff seemed nice- no hassle. Will be back since as far as I know, only this place and Texas Liquor in the North County area get special releases. Yes, it is beer dessert in a beer paradise if you are bottle shopping. “

“Very impressed with this place- shocked that I’d never heard of it. Decided to give it a go after reading Leighton’s review. Awesome, cozy beer bar ambiance with few tables and a long bar. Very crowded, but not too loud. Diverse menu but specializing in burgers- they were quite good 8/10. Service was all surprisingly good when it came to beer knowledge. Our server knew much more about beer than most staff at any big beer place I’ve travelled to. He guided me through the bottle list quickly and we found quite a rarity here- Westmalle Extra, usually for sale only on premise at the monastery in Belgium. Tap list was extensive focusing on local CA beer especially highlighting nearby Acoustic Ales. Tasting flights available and not expensive. Tap list included rarities like Midnight Sun Moscow, which made my wife a happy camper. Will be back.“

“A so so place overall. The beer range is pretty good, but the beer range is pretty good at most San Diego area eateries. The food is also mostly sound. My beef here was as follows. We, a party of four, came here for dinner. We had our mains and a few drinks and were having a good time. We were planning to have some dessert, too, but when we flagged down our server he told us the kitchen had closed so we couldn’t get any. Really? Everyone I was dining with has worked in the service industry and we all thought this was shabby practice. (We would have expected a heads-up from the waiter in case we wanted anything else.) So here I am, telling it real to RB. Aside from the gripe, the meal was OK. As a silver lining, we went down the street to a place called 3rd Corner and had a fantastic dessert paired with some top notch beer and wine - probably a much better dessert than we would have gotten at Biergarden. If I go back to Encinitas I will go to dinner at the Encinitas Ale House and give Biergarden a pass. It’s not a bad place overall but you’ve got better options literally minutes away (and that’s walking, mind you).“

“Really quite an impressive place. I stayed in Encinitas for a week but, lamentably, I only came to this venue on my last night. The draft list is solid, with lots of local stuff and in addition to some fairly obscure CA beers (picked up a one-off Almanac beer here, for one). The bottle list is also really well put together, with lots of great American beers alongside a comprehensive range of European imports. The food is also good. I had a salad but my companion had a burger, to which he gave high marks. The prices are pretty damn good on everything. The service is also very good. If you are staying in Encinitas this place is a must-visit. The location is right on the main drag, so it’s easy to find.“

“(Visited 10/2013): Royal Liquor is located near the ocean on the 101 on the north side of Encinitas, not too far off the I-5. There is a parking lot next to the building.

The interior is laid out like a typical liquor/convenience store. The beer is located in multiple aisles on the right side, and in some coolers around the perimeter.

Regarding the selection there are hundreds of brands, more or less segmented by geography. California and the west coast are well-represented with beers from Lost Abbey/Port, Almanac, Bruery, Speakeasy and Russian River.

Service on our visit was friendly, although the cashier didn’t really go out of the way to offer assistance (not that we asked for or needed it). They did let me use the restroom which was appreciated.

All in all this is an unassuming spot from outward appearances, but has an incredible selection and is definitely worth stopping between Encinitas and Carlsbad.“

“One of my favorite beer bars in San Diego. They have a kick ass and knowledgeable staff. There draft list is incredible and changes every day, Belgians, Domestics, German, Austrian, beer from all over the world. They get some super rare beers as well! The Burgers are definately up there on the best burger I have ever had. My boyfriend is a vegetarian and he even loved his Veggie Santana Burger. Fish tacos are bomb, Pizzas delicious. My favorite local hang out spot, tiny European pub feel to it. Tons of locals that strike up conversation and are so friendly.“

“This is a nice local, though the space is too small and they have some weird table configurations. I’m impressed with their selection. Someone there likes Belgians, cause it’s heavily weighted in the beer list. They do mix it up really well. I’ve been about 5-6 times, and the beer selection stays fresh with new beers every time. The food is good, albeit a little pricey. They were actually serving lion burgers one day (is that legal?).“

“All BevMo’s in San Diego have a good selection as a whole, but some individual BevMo’s have a fair number of beers unique to them. This always seems to be the case with Encinitas. The place is huge, and you can always find 5-6 beers here that are not at the other locations. Though I have never bought food at this location, the cheese and sausage selection looks good. “Encinitas. The selection could be better, but it is pretty good. Good selection of California beers, and the import selection isn’t lacking. I wish they went out of their way to get more American beers from outside of California, but I guess that is the fault of the distributers, not the store. Supermarket ambiance. Staff is fairly knowledgable, but definitly not experts. I have had staff members tell me things that were blantently wrong, but they are at other times very helpful and nice. Large selection of CA craft beer, not a great selection of rare stuff from outside CA.“
