JohnC (3007) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - APR 25, 2012I had this on tap at the brewpub in Ka’anapali. This black beer, with a roasty/toasty character was very good.

Dark black with fizzy tan head. Medium carbonated. Resinous nose. Fairly acidic resin and a "burnt toast" bitter and roasted finish.
anders37 (31473) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 18, 2011Draft @ Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy grapefruit aroma. Fruity roasted malty hoppy bitter flavor with hints of licorice. Has a roasted malty hoppy bitter finish.
chuwy (55) - JAPAN - DEC 17, 2011Not a bad pint, on tap at Devilcraft, in Tokyo as part of their Maui brewing event. Again thin bodied but nice hop flavors in here, along with enough speciality dark malt to give some character. Just the faintest hint of roastiness to remind you this is a black IPA, otherwise a thin bodied, gentle IPA/American pale.

oh6gdx (45104) - Vasa, FINLAND - NOV 12, 2011Draught@Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen (Aug 8th 2011). Quite much black colour, mediumsized off-white to beige head. Aroma is strong fruity notes mixed with ashes and some mild raisins. Flavour is fruity, rather bitter with some slight ashy and wooden notes. Probably nice to those who appreciate Black IPA as a beer style, but I didn’t find it all too enjoyable.
