COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blend of 1-2-3 year old lambic from various producers. Typically: 50% 1-year old lambic, 30% 2-year old lambic, and 20% 3-year old lambic. ABV varies (has been 6.4% for example). Draft version is separate entry since it is totally different blend: it contains Meerts (low ABV lambic), 1 and 2 year old lambics (no 3 year old lambic). 2019-2020 description for example: "The Gueuze Tilquin à l’ancienne (7.0% alc / vol) is a spontaneous fermentation beer obtained from the blending of 1, 2 and 3 years old lambics. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, it is re-fermented in the bottle for a minimum period of 6 months. The lambics used were fermented and matured in our own oak barrels at the blendery. They are made from worts brewed by Boon, Lindemans, Girardin and Cantillon. The taste is tart and dry but has a certain roundness that makes this Gueuze à l’ancienne particularly accessible for non-experts. It will also delight fans of the genre for its sweet complexity. It also has a slight dry bitterness because of the youth of the oak barrels used, as they still release some tannins. It has a fresh lemony nose."

jamestulloch (8843) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 30, 2023
UPDATED: JUL 30, 2023 Bottle (7% ABV), gift from Pam. Hazy orange body with a white head that holds well. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of grapefruit peel, green apples, lemon sherbet and a hint of vinegar. Flavour of bitter lemon and funk with no hint of the ABV. A very dry, mouth-puckering finish. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Light fizz. It’s tart and refreshing, just a bit too sour/sharp for me to love it.

PowY (4562) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - JUN 17, 2023
UPDATED: JUN 17, 2023 19.5.2023: 375 ml bottle at home, 7% ABV, vintage 2020/2021, bought at La Mise En Biere webshop. Pours a nearly clear dark golden with a frothy white head and some sediment at the bottom of the bottle. The aroma is pretty funky with leather, cellar, light moldy notes, wood, wet wood, light citrus notes and light dusty notes - nice smell. Medium to medium-full body with an average carbonation, a medium acidity and a medium tartness. The flavor starts with acidic funk, light citric notes, wood, elderflower, leather and tart wood. Finishes dry with a a light residual acidity, woody and with hints of elderflower. Overall with a decent complexity, pretty funky with lots of wood but a bit harsh. MicroGrog (3462) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JUN 2, 2023
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2023 2012 bottle vintage, 6.4%, stemless pour@RLRL. Still, dark ruby, no chunks. Dark fruit, raisin, port, chocolate oxidation, veg, Dr pepper spice. Carbonic & real acidy upfront. Old fruit, sour plum, lemon juice, peach pit, subtle cider vinegar sweetness. Rindy, bitter earth, decent oxidation, somewhat boozy. Complex, but it was a bit too old. BB: 29/03/2022. Cheers.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2023 750 ml bottle, 2017 vintage. Aroma of barrel, almond, citrus, moderate stone fruits, slight funk. Tastes similar. Medium, a bit creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes dry, wooden, citric, fruity, with almond. Tasty, classic Geuze, with a great balance between barrel notes, quite a lot of fruits and some funk. Very refreshing, elegant stuff. 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 17
