UPDATED: MAR 28, 2019 Grabbed in the winter variety pack. For 75 cents per beer, really can't beat this on clearance. Reminds me of a brown ale. Maybe a little thicker and heavier as the black lager, but not as dark in malt. Medium to darker brown appearance. Mostly caramel malts with some light spices. Like a darker winter lager. A nice change of pace, or good dinner pairing, but I prefer their stouts.

December 26th, 2014 - I don’t know who Arthur is, and I am going to keep the topic unresearched for the sake of mystery, but he makes a sessionable Christmas Ale, which while not my favorite beer, allows those fans of dark beer to be able to find something to while away evenings full of visits with family and friends. The nose begins with a distinct tang on an otherwise malty aroma, deviating from the cookie cutter winter warmer style of brew without being too eccentric. There’s some blueberry sweetness in the nose too, though definitely overshadowed by the distinctive tang pang. The flavor is light, which I should expect from Guinness, and indeed, the palate and mouthfeel are similar to Guinness, with that nice, cleansing, coating feeling. The flavor profile, like the nose, features a bit of blueberry (blueberry skin in particular) with a light malt tone.

14.9 ounce can. Pours a clear brown with a tan foamy head that holds throughout the beer. Not a lot of aroma. Roasted malt flavor and sweet. Just enough hops to balance it, but nothing discernible.

441 ml can. Amber pour. Lightly fuirty aroma, some herbs. Flavor is malty, some candy, herbal hops, medium to low bitterness, some earthiness. Pleasant but uninteresting.

APPEARANCE - deep copper color. Strong white head. NOSE - not much to it. Light ale scent. FLAVOR - fairly bland. Light ale flavor with some maltiness. No hop flavor, but perhaps a bit of bitterness in there.

Can. Dark amber pour with a creamy off white head. Roasted malt, spice and a bit of vanilla in the aroma and taste.

A malty sweetness with an underlying bitter aroma come from this clear deep red brew with an offwhite head. The taste is sweet with a slight bitterness and the taste of tin (probably from can). The aftertaste is sweet fading into a dry and bitter typical of this style. It's medium bodied and smooth.

Can @ home, thanks to MacBoost for this one off! Pours an orangish brown appearance with a foamy, brown head. The aroma is creamed corn, lemon, grass, and wood. Twangy lemon flavor. Moderate high sweetness, low bitterness. The flavor is metallic and lemony. Not too good.

Can @ home. Thanks, Boost. Cooper pour with a khaki head. Aroma is big on bread, toast, and grass. Not terribly fragrant. The flavor is just kind of toasty and grainy. Grassy and slightly bitter finish. A decent bit of bready malts. Ok.
