On tap @ Stone. Finally got to try this. Hazy dark copper pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of sweet dates, candy, brown sugar, caramel, and vanilla. Decent notes of brandy and a somewhat vinous character. Hints of maple and raisin. As expected, very sweet taste. Tons of brown sugar, caramel, and vanilla. Nice maple syrup and intense fruitiness. Brandy, mild oak, and a slightly tannic, vinous note. Slightly chocolatey as it sits.

Good but very strong, amber but hoppy and dark at the same time, would order again

Draft at the brewery for Winter Storm 2012. This was a 2006 Double Bastard vintage. Pours a ruddy red with very little foam. Aroma is sweet and fruit with caramel and molasses notes. Flavor has lots of fruit (more than normal Double Bastard) with cherry standing out. Also woody sweet brandy, brown sugar, and boozy notes. Syrupy mouthfeel. This is less hoppy and more fruity than the regular DB. (136, 672)

2006 vintage at stone for winterstorm. Reddish caramel pour with thin white head. Aroma is dusty and sweet with some brandy and brown sugar. Taste is mild sweet with brandy oak. Very balanced.

When I had this it was aged approx 7 years and freakin fantastic. Smooth, subtle, all sorts of flavors and hid the alcohol completely. Slgiht bit of brandym, sweet, a little floral, hard to describe because I’ve never had beer aged that long, but it was amazing. Tasted last year at churchkey stone tap takeover...old notes

RBSG 2008, in Stone’s then-new outside tasting area. Rich and sweet with overripe currants and apricots. Hot and tangy, alcohol all over the business and down the throat, warming the belly. Smell is the best part of this beer: luxurious alcohol with brown sugar. The alcohol mixes well with bitterness on the end, but it’s still a bit harsh. Almost syrupy, too, but not quite. Definitely American, definitely strong.

On tap at Small bar into a tasting glass for the Stone 40 tap takeover...Black pour with a thin light tan head...The aroma is the star of this beer, very strong with tons of bourbon showing throughout. Light oak, alcohol and bourbon are showed off. The beer malt character shows off with lots of chocolate...The taste is not dominated by the bourbon sadly as even though it was strong I was excited. The malts show through here in a creamy fashion, cream, vanilla and some chocolate...The beer is to light on the palate but pretty easy to drink. One of the better beers of the night.

Had on tap at the Stone Total Tap Takeover in Baltimore A-pours a clear copper color with a thin dark tan colored head S-light notes of oak, big time caramel and brown sugar, wet cardboard and obvious oxidtion with hints of sweet brandi in the back. T-lots of oxidation, light notes of oak, so much sugar in this with burnt caramel and brown sugar, wet paper, the brandi comes in at the back with a fair bit of boozy heat. M-full bodied and very thick and grainy, rough to drink with strong carbonation and a messy finish. D-this has been oxidized and has a ton of sugar in it. very messy malt bomb.

Tap at RnH for Stone tap takeover: very aroumatic, sherry and brandy and vineous. Apples and smooth sweet caramel, sharp carbonation sticky astringency and some burnt caramel and bitter finish.

On tap at DLD 2009. Poured a darkish brown with some nice red highlights. Nice, thick head. The brandy is definitely the main component of the nose along with miscellaneous fruity esters. There are some hops still kicking. A bit of woodiness and vanilla. Sweet brandy comes through along with some bitterness. Medium body.
