COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
May alse be / have been produced at Tadcaster.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey’s Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor’s Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.
The ABV was reduced from 4.8% to 4.2% in 2001 and, in March 2010, was further reduced to 3.8%. ABV may vary in export markets.

cogorano (127) - - APR 9, 2024
UPDATED: APR 9, 2024 Una bitter rinfrescante. Testa morbida e persistente, al naso molto tenue, agrumi. In bocca acida e ferrosa, ma piacevole. Acido e amaro il retrogusto, ancora una volta però gradevole.

Grumbo (20274) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - AUG 18, 2023
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2023 18/8/2023. Draught at The Harp, Ipswich, a recently reopened/renamed local Irish themed pub/guest house of many previous guises which I've not stepped into before today. Not much beer selection but did find I'd not rated this one before. Pours clear reddish amber with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, caramel, malt, bready, biscuit. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness and body. Quite smooth, soft carbonation. Not bad.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2023 440ml widget can purchased at Aldi expires 21 Oct 23. Pours an attractive red/amber with about a finger of persistent creamy foam. Very low carbonation. Little malt or hop aroma but fairly inoffensive. Quite sweet and not particularly bitter.

jonathan_reviews (405) - Preston, Lancashire, ENGLAND - JUL 31, 2022
UPDATED: JUL 31, 2022 440ml can @ 3.8% ABV Dark brown ale with a creamy white head. Aroma is of sweet malts, toffee, cream and notes of dark chocolate. Taste is malty, creamy, toffee and slightly chocolatey much like the aroma. Nitrogen adds a creamy and soft mouthfeel. Overall quite a refreshing beer and not bad for a typical Irish ale.

radassace (1327) - SCOTLAND - MAR 28, 2022
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2022 Not had this in about 25 years, until today. Lower abv than I remember. Pours amber/copper with wonderful cascade nitro. Inch of creamy head when settled. Aroma is pretty nice tbh, bready, caramel, toffee, hint of banana and floral. Light but creamy mouthfeel. No carbonation. Taste is is fairly subdued as expected but it’s actually quite pleasant. Malty, caramel, sweet, some yeasty banana and a light licorice bitterness. Overall nothing to jump up and down about, but a nice trip down memory lane to when this kind of beer was excepted as “ something decent” bland but refreshing and easy to sink!
