UPDATED: OCT 25, 2023 Bottle from Total Wine in San Jose near Cupertino. Dark brown color. Fast fading small bubble foam. Leans dry. Kind of like the border of a porter and watered down imperial stout. Interesting. I kind of like it.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2022 On tap at Abita, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and some gentle nuttiness. Flavour is dry, with toasted nuts, bready malt and a hint of sweet caramel. Clean and drinkable, but a pretty standard brown ale.

Beim Abgang keine erkennbare Hopfenbitterkeit. Wieder ein super Bier von Abita!

McGarnigle (773) - Rochester, New York, USA - OCT 22, 2022
UPDATED: OCT 22, 2022 6-pack bottles. This is a pretty solid brown ale. Malty with slight toastiness to it, but it could be richer. Not hoppy, but not too sweet either. Looks darker than it tastes. If you don't like the style you won't like this.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2021 Cherry like aroma, beautiful red color, but not the best tasting. Won't buy this brown beer from the commisary again. Cool label though...

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2021 12oz bottle from coworker, oddly enough the most attention getting note was a coppery taste.

raphael (1796) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 28, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 28, 2019 A reliable and well-distributed beer in Norleans. Hoppier than most browns, and that;s important to me. Malt that's rich but not sweet, toasted grains, a tad of chocolate. Aroma more on the sweet side, with toffee and a little sawdust.
