Augustiner Brau München From the Tap. Drinking on May 5th so definitely in season and from the Voss. Quite Malty however prefer over the typical Helle’s as much more flavor. Never tried on the bottle however believe this would be best enjoyed in Munich/on Tap

Augusta 1856 IPA
64 oz growler. Pours a hazy amber with a nice foamy white head. Smell is initially peachy then some green pepper, some dank grassy herbal earth notes. The pepper sucks, but the rest is nice. Flavor is sweet up ront. Lots of bubblegum flavor, sweet herbs, very mild bitterness, caramel nougat malt but not too much.

Augusta Farmhouse Saison
750 c&c from Bu11zeye. Pours hazy orange amber with a slight head. Aroma is fruity, but with a dark malt suggesting contact with wood. Med body. Very light carbonation. Flavor is arguably a bit oxidized, which may be where the wood suggestion comes from. It’s very lightly spicy, has some fruit esters, but overall its very dark. It’s not quite dry in the finish, a bit fruity, and still seems to have a woody component. It’s actually reminding me of some of the Fuller’s Vintage Old Ales. For which, among other reasons, I’m rather liking it. "rerate": After looking at other ratings, I’m thinking my 750 is rather like that of Zymurgeist2.

Augusta Barrel Aged Barley Wine
Growler... RBSG 2014... Cloudy mahogany pour with a miniscule, creamy, off-white head. The bouquet offers malty caramel and dark fruits with nice bourbon and toasted oak components. Full-bodied, über-velvety and even fatty with pillow soft carbonation. The flavor is boozy and quite bitter, yet malty at the same time. Finishes with caramel, hot bourbon and scorching hop bitterness.

Tasted at RBSG grand tasting. 750ml bottle. From Washington, MO. Apparently this is yet to be released. Hazy orange color. Thin off-white head, loose bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft crisp lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Great oaky lemony woody tart flavor, light yeast influence. Satisfying moderate sour taste, light sweet. Awesome balanced smooth complex wild ale.

Pour from a growler at the RBSG brunch. Pours a cloudy amber-brown with almost no head, but a hint of an off-white ring. Notes of caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, dark and dried fruits (dates, figs), oak, and some earthy hops. Medium-full bodied, with modest carbonation and a rich, warming mouthfeel. Good barrel-aged barley wine. I’d like more time to sit with this one.

Augusta Wine Barrel Wild Ale
750 ml bottle shared by the brewer at the RBSG grand tasting. Thanks again, Sean! Glad to finally try the fruits of your wild experiment. This one pours a hazy pale gold with virtually no head. Vinous and funky from the start, with citrus fruits, musty basement, oak, yogurt, cheesecloth, tropical fruits, dough, earth, hay, and some acidity throughout. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a dry, funky mouthfeel. Really interesting. I could go on longer about this, and wish I had another bottle to try again. Great stuff.

Augusta Wine Barrel Wild Ale
Sampled at the RBSG14 Grand Tasting - Pours golden orange with a white head. The aroma has clean oakiness, funk, vanilla, bugs and a chardonnay style of buttery flavor. It has a medium body that starts out smooth and has some light semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor begins with oak, vanilla, some sharpness, tart slant, chardonnay and clean sourness. The finish stays clean and has light lemon and enough malt to balance it out. I think this is the first sour attempt from Augusta and a pretty good one at that.
