downender	3.3 Shires Dabley Ale Cask-conditioned at the Black Country Inn, Walsall,12/11/2015 as ’Best Bitter’. Golden with a decent, white, head. Aroma of hedgerow fruits, leafy hops and a touch of caramel. Biscuity malt flavours, more fruits and a decent, bitter finish. Good. Sunday, December 13, 2015
BlackHaddock	3 Shires Severn Gorgeous Gravity poured cask pint on 5th Nov 2015: 1st CAMRA beer festival in Shifnal, Shropshire. Golden bodied beer with a white head. Tropical fruits with a citrus taste and aroma leading the way. Yet another golden/citrus flavoured beer: popular with most people I am fed up with them. Nothing wrong with this, just so, so ’samey’ to maybe 10 other beers available at the 24 beer festival. Scored objectively. Tuesday, November 10, 2015
leaparsons	2.6 Shires OBJ Cask, The King’s Head, Leicester. Hazy gold with a thin head. Aromas are dusty yeast with grain and mellow lemon. Woody with yeast. Flavours are mellow lemon with wood and yeast. Fourth very similar dull golden beer on the trot. Tuesday, June 23, 2015

BlackHaddock	2.5 Shires SPA Another very pale/golden coloured ale to come from a Shropshire brewery: I wish they didn’t sell so well and they’d add more colour into the process during the mash. This is a review from a hand-pulled pint on 28 Feb 2013 in The Cock Hotel, Wellington Shropshire. Bright light gold with a crystal white head on top. Now the bit that really gets my goat: it has citrus overtones, undertones and just plain tones. Yes, it is refreshing, yes it is hoppy, but I’ve had umpteen of these citrusy styled golden beers and I’m fed up with them. I know almost everyone else loves them: but I’ve had enough. BlackHaddock	3.2 Shires OBJ Light golden brew with a clean white head on top: hand-pulled pint on 2 Mar 2013 in the excellent Cock Hotel (Wellington, Shropshire). The Fuggles give the brew a full hop feel more than a full hop blast: they are evident in both the aroma and taste but the malts hold their own and this is a well balanced if slightly dry finnishing beer. Wheat is also used in the brewing process although I couldn’t find any trace of it in my pint. Pleasant and easy to drink: would have liked more colour, but light beers sell around here and darker more amber brews don’t seem to fly out the pumps as fast. Brewers will therefore brew to local tastes, not just mine! Monday, March 4, 2013
BlackHaddock	3 Shires Dabley Gold Hand-pulled pint in the excellent ’Cock Hotel’ Wellington, Shropshire on 21 Dec 2012. As the name suggests the beer is a golden coloured beer, clear and bright: on top a well formed foaming head of white bubbles. Mixed fruit aroma: semi-citrus with sweeter orchard smells coming through as well. The taste is also semi-citrus with a mini-bitterness throughout the mouthfeel. You’d never guess it carried 5% ABV within its thin looking body: if it had some depth of colour I’d really like it, but Gold is the colour around these parts at the moment, so that is what’s brewed. BlackHaddock	3.5 Shires Dabley Ale I have drank this in three different pubs including the All Nations (it is brewed round the back of the pub): this review however is for a cask hand pulled pint from The Plough in Shifnal about 10 miles from the brewery. Pale blonde/golden body, bright and sparkling look to it. On top sat a full but thin white crown of bubbles. The taste and smell were of floral hops which in the mouth began to turn more bitter and sharper than in the nose. This is a good session beer and should be taken in large mouthfulls to ensure you have another (and another). Saturday, June 30, 2012
shoulderbroken	3.4 Shires Summer Classic Cask at Pineapple beer fest. Very pale blond colour. Translucent with no head. Aroma is very apple like, almost cider. Taste is predominately malty though, mainly biscuity, with a bit of doughiness coming through too. Also there is still the apple elements. Finish is slightly sweet and nice and biscuity. Strange beer. Bit like a beery apple juice. Tiny carbonation. Strange and nice! Monday, February 20, 2012
imdownthepub	3 Shires Severn Gorgeous Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Hazed gold with slight head. There is a leafy tobacco type flavour from the off, which lingers right through the beer. Bitter but with perfumed edge. Average. Saturday, September 17, 2011
downender	3 Shires Ginger Cob Cask-conditioned at the Three Kings, Hanley Castle, Worcestershire 27/05/2011. Pale gold in colour with a frothy, white head. Aroma of sweetish, slightly earthy malts with a trace of ginger. The ginger was more prominent, but not dominant, on the flavour, balanced by some solid malts and a decent bitter finish. Fine. BeerCast_Rich	3.1 Shires Coalport Mild [cask at the Wellington, Birmingham] Dark ruby pour with a thin head that reduces pretty quickly to almost nothing. DanielBrown	2.6 Shires Coalport Mild Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Chestnut red brown, with speckled head. A flavour that reminds me of heaving myself through acres of UK ales at Olympia. Thin in gob. Some sweet roasted malts with some ghost of cherry liqueur; then glossy, icey nothing. tommann	2.9 Shires Dabley Gold Cask at The Duke William, Stourbridge. Pours golden with a small head. Aroma was of some trpical fruits and a faint hint of some piney hops. Some orange to start with some light, fruity malt. Slighty piney, medium bitter finish. Little bit thin in the mouth. Not a bad pint. Friday, September 10, 2010

berkshirejohn	3.8 Shires Coalport Mild [Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham.] Deep tawny brown with a thin tan head - tar and tobacco aromas - lactic and rather thin to start, then becoming floury and dry before a sweeter finish. An excellent mild. Friday, December 5, 2008

Cask Handpump at the All Nations, Madeley 20/08/2005 Sampled at the beautifully serene All Nations pub in the Shropshire countryside which has a rich brewing history and is well worth a visit. Golden hoppy fruity beer with some bitterness in the crisp malt finish. 2. Cask Stillage at Bridgnorth Station Festival 12/09/2009 (as Shires Dabley Ale 3.8%) Fruit and hop aroma. chriso	3.5 Shires Dabley Ale Much the same as the others have said really, so I won’t go into more detail. Definitely more a golden ale than a bitter. Grassy, clean and fresh. Sigmund	4 Shires Dabley Ale Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Listed as "All Nations Dabley Bitter". Pale golden colour. Lovely aroma of citrus and tropical fruits, reminds me of the Oakham ales. Light bodied, fruity flavour. Hoppy finish. A nice session bitter / golden ale, esp. for the summer months.
