3.4 Wild Goose Snow Goose Winter Ale Hoppy w/ a little roast. Pours dark brown w/ a tan head & plenty of lacing. The aroma is primarily dark, roasty malt. The flavor has a bitter yet toffee like taste up front & finshes with a strong hop presence. It's a little dry on the palate in the aftertaste. Pretty solid brew! Wednesday, June 13, 2018

3.2 Wild Goose Oatmeal Stout Got a single of this today to try. Never saw them before...Wild Goose. Been seeing some new Oatmeal Stouts and Porters, so deciding to sample them since they are two of my favorite styles. This one was OK for me, but nothing special. Seemed a bit thin, not necessarily watered down though. Aroma a little on the sour side, but also nutty from the oatmeal. Dark dark brown appearance. The flavor is there, but nothing that overwhelmingly stands out. Worth the single, but dunno if I'd get it again. Tuesday, April 17, 2018

1.9 Wild Goose Spring Wheat Ale Rated from old notes. No real wheat taste here. Grainy, a bit like a mass produced lager and with odd additives I could not identify. Avoid. Sunday, March 27, 2016

3.2 Wild Goose IPA 1/22/2010 10:14:09 PM On tap at Beer Temple. Golden body with tall head. Hoppy nose. Creamy texture with a light taste of hops and oranges. A bit too mellow and harder to rate after the European Strong Lager I had just enjoyed. Pity that. Tuesday, September 22, 2015

3.3 Wild Goose Oatmeal Stout Bottle at MVP from old notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor had roasted malts, dark chocolate, earth, dry, not much in the way of oatmeal sweetness or that typical smooth mouth feel that comes with it, pretty bland and boring. 3.9 Blue Ridge (MD) Steeple Stout 17-Apr-14 (12-oz bottle, 2005 release: Obtained in trade with hopscotch, thanks Eric!) Drank a lot of Steeple Stout in the 90s when I lived in DC, one of my favorites back then. It’s still pretty solid. The beer pours a black body with a short, dark-tan head, fading to a ring. The roasty, chocolaty aromas are very pleasant and enticing, smelling moderately sweet. It’s really tasty on the palate, with prominent flavors of dark chocolate bar and cocoa, with lesser notes of coffee, tobacco, grilled meat, and cola. Light-medium sweetness is nicely balanced by mild, roasty, cacao-like bitterness. The beer is full bodied, medium in carbonation, and soft, smooth, and creamy in mouthfeel. Overall, this is such a perfect stout for me. It’s a little sweet, a little bitter, and a lot delicious. And talk about beautiful cellaring capability, wow! Thursday, April 17, 2014

3.5 Blue Ridge (MD) Subliminator 10-Apr-14 (12-oz bottle, 2005 release: Obtained in trade with slob, thanks Bert!) I used to drink Blue Ridge all the time when I lived in DC in the 90s, and back then, I thought this beer tasted more like a Barley Wine than a Doppelbock, and here’s this 2005 bottle that’s aged as well as a Barley Wine. The beer pours a hazy, brown body with a thin, tan head that settles to a ring. The nose is obviously focused on deep, rich malt, with toasted bread, milk chocolate, and dried fruits. It’s full bodied without being heavy or cloying and carbonation is light-medium. Overall, this is a very tasty and enjoyable beer, and considering the style, it’s pretty amazing how well this Doppelbock has held together. Thursday, April 17, 2014

3.9 Wild Goose Snow Goose Winter Ale After 4 years in the dark cellar alll alone, pours amber thicker with a ton of sediment and beige head. Aroma brings sweet malts with aging character, started to turn a big. Flavor brings the sweet aged malt flavors as well, maintaining the English style with honey like notes, not piercing sweetness at all. It aged pretty well for 4 years!
