+1 for Bamberg |
Having just been to Bratislava I can confirm it’s becoming a pretty decent beer city, well compared to what it was like when I first went 6 years back it’s beer paradise now!!! |
Bratislava is now really good beer city with 5 microbreweries. And not far from city are Sessler in Trnava (app 60 km), Sandorf in Prievaly (app 70 km), Bors microbrewery in Gyorzamoly - Hungary (app 60 km)and of course Vienna. If somebody could advice me what should be organized ( I know hotels, breweries, tasting...), I am able and willing to organize gathering in Bratislava if there will be interest. |
and +1 for Bratislava. |
I was in Bratislava around Christmas (sorry we didn’t meet up Cuso!) and I will agree that it is an excellent beer city. You can do a really solid pub crawl by foot, hitting numerous brewpubs. Accoms are pretty cheap, too. I would be interested in going back to Bratislava |
As far as timing goes, I would vote for July, possibly June. |
I am keeping good memories of Bamberg, except for the walk up to that castle. |
Bamberg (and Germany) are long over due. |
It’s nice to have wish lists & all but let’s not forget that none of this is going to happen unless there are local people on the ground who are going to make it so. Which rules out most of the places mentioned so far. |
Originally posted by chriso I think Cuso is in the Bratislava area. I also think that it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility to organize the event while outside the country. Of course you might not get the same experience that we had in London (which is my only RBESG, admittedly) in the form of meeting brewers, getting special beers made, mass transport, etc. But it’s easy enough to schedule a pub crawl and pick the bars/brewpubs to visit. It would take a bit more effort to find a grand tasting location, but I don’t think it’s impossible. Dream big, Chris! |
