An interesting little article about Gulf Islands Brewery and its staff of 8 unionizing:

I wonder if the new equipment will eliminate the diacetyl in many bottles? Those of you who’ve visited the brewery would likely have mentally noted that the facility wouldn’t rank terribly well in the "sanitary" department.

It will for a while at the start, until things get unclean again !!

Agreed. A company that lets defective product go to the market, for years, is not a company whose problems can be attributed to equipment.

Fermenters don’t brew bad beer, people do.

Don’t think I have ever had a clean beer from that brewery.

At point someone wanted me to bring them to Alberta, I ran away as fast as I could.

Their draft beer is often quite good - it’s obviously something to do with their bottling.

Diacetyl happens in kegs too. It doesn’t discriminate between kegs and bottles. Not sure I have even had one of their beers on tap.

I thought this was a joke when I heard about it a few months ago.
