58 Big restaurant with classic look and full of old people. Food is classic Flemish dishes. They have one vegetarian dish which is a fucking joke as it’s just cooked veggies with rice which they charge a massive 17 euro for, a disgrace really. A few vintage 3 Fonteinen bottles, classic Belgians and a few draft including 3F lambic. It’s nice if you like classic Flemish rustic food, but it’s really nothing special and prices are quite high. |
72 Classically styled restaurant serving classic Belgian dishes. Cooked every well I have to say full of flavour lots of meat though (vegetarians be warned). I don’t mind , the stewed pork was delicious. Professional and knowledgeable service, but not very proactive (as typical in Belgium). 3 Fonteinen on wood tapped fresh here, so yeah, that’s nice. Very limited amount of special releases bottles lists too (at probably reasonable prices but I’m far from an expert. Clientèle consists seemingly solely of beer nerds and old people. 😊 |
70 Old fashioned interior, slow service and the waiter we had wasn’t very friendly. The food is nice and tasty. Beer selection is ok. Nice place but I was a bit disappointed in the service. |

82 Authentic Belgian restaurant. I had the tartines which was ok. The beer list was great though a few listed was not available. |
78 I enjoyed my visit to the 3 Fonteinen Restaurant. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. I enjoyed trying their beers alongside their dishes, which made the experience feel more unique. The steak was great and reasonably priced. As were the beers, although the Zenne y Frontera was expensive for a direct purchase from source. |
80 Visited for dinner on Friday 20/11/15.
3 Fonteinen restaurant is located in the centre of Beersel, around the corner from the brewery/bottle shop and six or seven minutes walk up the hill from the station.
More cafe like in appearance the menu itself does not disappoint. It was game season during our visit so the likes of pheasant and venison were on offer, the latter which I had was well presented with various pureed vegetables, pear, apple, wild mushrooms and croquettes.
Service was friendly and top notch. Part way through our meal we were asked if we wanted any more croquettes or chips and fresh warm servings were promptly dispatched to our table.
On the beer front I had hoped to see more of the rarer 3F offerings but these were limited to some vintage gueuze (97 I seem to recall) and the relatively recently released Zenne for €50, which I thought was a very fair mark up for a restaurant bearing in mind it was circa €30 when available at the bottle shop.
Some of the less common 3F beers were available on tap such as the Faro and the Oude Lambic.
Overall a great stop for some pucker food and you may well pick up some of the less common 3F beers. |
82 Nice cosy restaurant. With Lovely lambic during your meals. Moules with lambic. Great service. A must visit when you are hungry |
76 Big yet cosy is a very local sort of way. Great food and three handpumps, two of them on our visit dispensing 3 Fonteinen Faro and unsweetened still Kriekenlambik. |
80 These guys really bailed me out. After heading down by train then waiting for an hour for a bus to check out Oud Beersel I get out into the pissing rain only to find the brewery closed! Pop into the flower shop chat with owner who’s like they should be open. He looks outside, oh no signboard... oh wait it’s a national holiday in Belgium. Damn, bad luck. I was going to walk to 3 Fonteinen in the rain hoping the brewery was open but the florist kindly offered me a ride. The brewery was closed but the restaurant had just opened. I was meeting a friend at 2 so I settled in for a long wait. Had the 3 Fonteinen Jonge Lambik which was great, the faro was out but I ordered the Cassonade a la Flammande which I believe has a sauce made with the Oud Lambik. Big portion, great fries, Service was good even as the place got packed. Free wifi kept me busy. Top class, chatted with the owner a bit on my way out and hope to visit again someday. |
