68 Large Wetherspoons with loads of tables, a long bar and a little outdoor seating area at the back. Usual cask options (Doom Bar, Abbot, Ruddles) available along with 6 other wickets, 4 in operation on my visit (Gadds, Byatts, Oakham & Silhill), with crafty cans in the fridge. Good for random ticks if you’re lucky and beer quality not too shabby. Cask Marque accredited too, whatever that’s supposed to mean! |
56 Has your typical city centre spoons feel to it. It's busy and looking a bit tired now. Has 6 cask options with 3 rotating which is one more than Soloman Cutler close by. I prefer the later venue as it looks a bit more modern and spacious but an extra cask option is always nice. The beer garden is a nice feature. |
76 Fairly large pub , open early on a Saturday. Good variety of casks and Wetherspoons normal pub grub. Friendly and comfortable. Got d place to get out of the rain. £2 pints |
62 Central location at Broad street, close to the Gas Street Canal. A long bar to the left, large beer garden to the rear and a medium-sized, open-plan dining and drinking room, including a library section.Ten ales by hand-pumps, two of them new to us. Friendly service. Pretty quiet early on a Tuesday morning. Over par for a spoon. (Visited for breakfast with Finn 04.02.2020). |
58 Modern ´spoons. Nothing special. |
68 Very long time trying to get served so nothing changes on that front for a JDW but the Glamorgan Jemima's Pitchfork beer I selected was fine. Otherwise a typical JDW bar. |
52 City centre Spoons between the University area and the main shopping streets, big and rangy in typical Wetherspoons decoration and feel. Highly difficult to get served on a lunchtime in the lead up to Christmas. Didn’t linger too long. |
66 Visited on 1 April 2014. Our second Broad Street Spoons of this trip. Has a much more traditional spoons look and feel that the nearby Solomon Cutler. And a far better beer range too - 10 handpumps including a few festival winners for me (the fact that it was Spring festival time was the main reason for looking in). The barman who served us was actually enthusiastic about his wares, which can not always be said of city centre Spoons. Throw in a pleasant beer garden and it all added up to a worthwhile stop. |
58 Normal weatherspoons. Not so busy. Not too many varieties but in this neighbourhood, you have little choice. |
64 Normally has a decent selection of cask, really pleasant beer garden, an oasis from the craziness of Broad Street. The toilets are a fucking disgrace though. |
